As women in science, ina and I have both navigated a field histori-cally dominated by men. When I entered graduate school a decade after ina, the field was still predominantly male, but progress had been made thanks to pioneers like her who opened doors for others. ina’s achieve-ments exemplify the invaluable contributions of female conservationists who work to protect our planet, overcoming significant barriers along the way. Her legacy not only celebrates these contributions but also inspires us to continue to strive for greater inclusivity and recognition of diverse voices in our efforts to protect nature.
