History of the USPC

Maverick Playing Cards are manufactured by the the United States Playing Card Company. The company was originally formed in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1867 and was primarily for printing circus poster, placards, and labels. Playing card production began in 1881, and about 13 years later the playing card division broke off as its own company. Over the next hundred years the company expanded and released several different brands of playing cards. Each have gone through different redesigns. Some of the major lines include Bicycle, Bee, and Maverick.

Big Idea
To the majority of our target group, playing cards are playing cards. Especially if you are looking for an inexpensive deck, deciding which brand to purchase is going to be about one of two things: 1. Do you recognize and trust the brand? 2. Does the packaging catch your eye? With that in mind, the plan is to give Maverick a louder, more attractive design that will help it grab more of the market share from its competitors.

Related subtitle text can be placed nearly directly next to, but not touching the MAVERICK letters. Other text or visual elements must not be nearer than the distance from the base of the A to the bottom point of the flourish. The maximum recommended size on a box of playing cards is 2 inches wide.
