Shannon Leaper Acquisitions and Collecting Exercise

Leaper 1

This collection is based on the work of fantasy author David Eddings who along with his wife Leigh Eddings, authored twenty-seven novels from 1973 to 2006. The purchases highlighted in this assignment are meant to augment an already developed personal collection. The collector currently possesses all but three of David and Leigh Eddings published books, but most are massmarket paperbacks, collected over a twenty year span. All exhibit the wear and tear one would associate with an avid reader of a beloved author. The collector is ready to make the transition from book-buyer to book-collector (Randall, 1992, p. 70) and to add her collection which currently includes four first edition hardcover novels by the aforementioned authors. To do so, she will attempt to obtain hardcover, preferably first edition copies in very good, fine, or very fine condition (Carter & Barker, 2006, pp. 71-73).
