SLA 1614
Colloidal PTFE in oil dispersion
DESCRIPTION
SLA 1614 is a concentrated dispersion of PTFE in highly refined petroleum oil. Compared to ordinary PTFE dispersions, it is exceptionally stable at room temperature. Its translucent color makes SLA 1614 desirable for applications where use of other dark colored solid lubricants would be objectionable. SLA 1614 demonstrates significant reduction of friction and improves the extreme pressure, load carrying, and anti-wear properties of lubricants. This results in energy savings, smoother operation, extended life, and reduced maintenance costs of the object being lubricated. The PTFE prevents surface-to-surface contact and scuffing while providing reliable lubrication under boundary conditions.

FEATURES
Stable colloidal suspension of PTFE Fine particle size distribution

BENEFITS
Minimal mixing costs for blending into your finished lubricant Provides cost-effective usage in finished lubricant to provide superior lubrication performance, consumer confidence and repeat sales Superior lubrication extends equipment life, reduces maintenance costs and lubricant intervals Addresses consumer perception of clean lubrication, driving revenue by your formulated product Minimizes formulation costs for achieving stable and effective product

METHOD OF USE

Dilution SLA 1614 can be blended with most commercially available oils. The services of Acheson Colloids Companys laboratories are available to advise and/or evaluate the compatibility of SLA 1614 with proposed diluents, oils, and additive combinations. SLA 1614 is compatible with most oil additive treatments. When blending large quantities, the oil should be heated to about 50-55C (122-131F) since blending is more efficient when oil viscosities are reduced. Stir SLA 1614 thoroughly to achieve a uniform consistency; then premix equal parts of SLA 1614 and the oil diluent before blending with the balance of the oil. Maintain continuous agitation by mechanical stirring throughout the blending operation. Note: A small amount of soft settling of the larger particles may occur during long periods of storage. Mild agitation will restore these particles back into suspension. Application For best results, use SLA 1614 at one percent PTFE solids by weight in the finished oil, or approximately five percent by weight of SLA 1614. Final concentration of SLA 1614 may be determined by the level of performance desired. SLA 1710, a colloidal dispersion of boron nitride in oil, is recommended when the use of boron nitride is preferred. SLA 1286, a colloidal dispersion of molybdenum disulfide in oil, is recommended when the use of molybdenum disulfide is preferred. SLA 1275, a colloidal dispersion of graphite in oil, is recommended when the use of graphite is preferred. SLA 1286 or SLA 1275 can be blended with SLA 1614 for a combination PTFE graphite and/or molybdenum disulfide product.
