FIRE DETECTION AND ALARM SYSTEM / INERGEN - 541 GAS SUPPRESSION SYSTEM - ENGINEERING SPECIFICATIONS DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Design

and installation of an engineered Fire detection and IG 541 total flooding clean agent, Fire suppression system at Datacenter, SDB 1. GENERAL: Explaining all engineering design and materials for a complete Fire detection / IG - 541 suppression system including charged storage tanks, nozzles, control panel, detectors, wiring, annunciators, alarm and all other equipment necessary for a complete operational system. Drawings will indicate locations, installation details and operation details of all equipment associated with the IG - 541 system. Floor plans are provided showing equipment locations, piping, point-to-point wiring and other details as required. Sequence of operations are explained completely to describe the operation of the IG 541 system controls at Datacenter. SYSTEM CONSIDERED: The following are the types of Fire protection systems proposed for the Data center. Aspiration smoke detection system Analogue Addressable type Fire Detection & Alarm System Inergen (IG-541) Gas suppression system(150 Bar) Portable First Aid Fire Extinguishers Illuminated safety signages AREAS COVERED: Data center Server area, Viewing room, Telecom room, Backup room and Network room. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION: Aspiration smoke detection system High sensitivity smoke detection (HSSD) like air aspirating technology will be provided, allows the earliest possible detection of a combustion event. However, HSSD should never be used to initiate the discharge of a suppression system. The graphic software

for Aspiration detection system at Graphic workstation will be provided, to display the air sampling piping network in datacenter area. Analogue Addressable Type Fire Detection & Alarm System - Cross-zoned Smoke Detection: The IG - 541 system shall be automatically actuated by cross-zoned detection circuits. Detectors shall be installed at not more than 25 Sq.m of coverage per detector. The detectors will be installed throughout the protected area with the system requiring that the detectors in two different zones should be detected to automatic agent release. Inergen (IG-541) Gas suppression system The system shall be an IG - 541 total flooding clean agent, fire suppression system designed to provide a mixture of Nitrogen 52%, Argon 40% and carbon dioxide 8% at a pressure of 150 bar for the protected areas. The amount of IG - 541 to be provided shall be the amount required to obtain a uniform (minimum) concentration of 34.2% and discharge time of 60 seconds maximum. The design concentration shall be discharge at temperature of 210 C to 270C. Pressure Vent Dampers Mechanical pressure vent dampers will be provided at appropriate place to exhaust the excess pressure during gas discharge in datacenter area. Portable First aid fire extinguishers The extinguishers are used to put-off small fires. The extinguishers will be used in the incipient stage of fire. Fire extinguishers are easy to handle. This is useful to put off the fire in the initial stage itself and thus avoiding major losses. The Fire Extinguisher of CO2 type will be provided as per IS 2190:1992. Illuminated safety Signages Signages of Discharge Indicator and Pre Discharge indicator will be provided at entry of datacenter area. SEQUENCE OF OPERATION: DETECT: Detection - Detectors are cross-zoned, allows the end user protection against false discharges of the suppression system, by requiring one of each type of detector to be in alarm, prior to the initiation of a discharge.

A. Early detection of smoke through Aspiration smoke Detection system shall: Cause a warning alarm from Air sampling detector. B. Activation of any single multi criteria detector in any one detection zone shall: Cause a first-stage pre alarm from fire alarm panel. RESPOND: C. Activation of a other multi criteria detector in second detection zone shall: 1. Transmit an alarm signal to Fire alarm panel. 2. Cause a second-stage alarm with pre-discharge indicator notification 3. Activation of detectors in both zones will send signal to Gas release panel from Fire alarm panel. 4. Activates auxiliary contacts for air conditioning shutdowns and Fire dampers through control modules. 5. Initiate a programmable time delay (IG - 541 agent release) through Gas release panel. ACTION: D. Upon completion of the time delay the IG - 541 system shall: 1. Energize control solenoid valves for IG - 541 cylinders releasing gaseous agent into the protected area. 2. Gas discharges into datacenter area with discharge alarm and Discharge indicator notification. E. In case of failure of solenoid valve actuation, the system shall have: 1. Manual releasing station will be provided at entry of the protected area and shall be activated during immediately release the gas agent and cause all audible/visual alarms to activate. 2. In addition, activation of the manual releasing station shall cause immediate actions of tripping other ancillary devices. F. In case of malfunctioning of detectors, the system shall have: 1. Abort switch shall be provided at entry of the protected area and shall be operated and interrupt the discharge of IG - 541 agent by increasing time delay. G. The Graphic workstation shall display the entire IG - 541 protected area and shall indicate each detector and its proximity. The signal will also be repeated in main fire alarm panel of the building and at the repeater panel.
