ALWAYS inspect the unit for fuel leaks before each use. During each rell, check that no fuel leaks from around the fuel cap and/or fuel tank. If fuel leaks are evident, stop using the unit immediately. Fuel leaks must be repaired before using the unit. ALWAYS move the unit to a place well away from a fuel storage area or other readily ammable materials before starting the engine. NEVER place ammable material close to the engine mufer.

Do not operate this unit with a blade unless the unit is equipped with a Shindaiwa-approved handlebar. Always wear a harness when operating this unit with a blade. a harness is also recommended when using trimmer line. Beware of blade thrust. A jammed blade can cause the brushcutter to jerk suddenly and may cause the operator to lose control of the unit.

IMPORTANT! The operational procedures described in this manual are intended to help you get the most from this unit as well as to protect you and others from harm. These procedures are guidelines for safe operation under most conditions, and are not intended to replace any safety rules and/or laws that may be in force in your area. If you have questions regarding your B530-series power tool, or if you do not understand something in this manual, your Shindaiwa dealer will be glad to assist you. You may also contact Shindaiwa, Inc. at the address printed in this Manual.

General Safety Instructions The Properly Equipped Operator

WARNING! Use Good Judgment ALWAYS wear eye protection to shield against thrown objects. NEVER run the engine when transporting the unit. NEVER run the engine indoors! Make sure there is always good ventilation. Fumes from engine exhaust can cause serious injury or death. ALWAYS clear your work area of trash or hidden debris that could be thrown back at you or toward a bystander. ALWAYS use the proper cutting tool for the job. ALWAYS stop the engine immediately if it suddenly begins to vibrate or shake. Inspect for broken, missing or improperly installed parts or attachments. ALWAYS keep the unit as clean as practical. Keep it free of loose vegetation, mud, etc. ALWAYS hold the unit rmly with both hands when cutting or trimming, and maintain control at all times. ALWAYS keep the handles clean. ALWAYS disconnect the spark plug wire before performing any maintenance work. ALWAYS, if a blade should bind fast in a cut, shut off the engine immediately. Push the branch or tree to ease the bind and free the blade. IMPORTANT! B530 brushcutters units do not have the spark arrester installed in the mufer. Before placing the brushcutter in service, check local, state and federal regulations to determine if a spark arrester is required in your area. See page 16 for installation details.
Wear appropriate footwear (non-skid boots or shoes): do not wear open-toed shoes or sandals. Never operate the unit while barefoot!

Wear close-tting clothing to protect legs and arms. Gloves offer added protection and are strongly recommended. Do not wear clothing or jewelry that could get caught in machinery or underbrush. Secure hair so it is above shoulder level. NEVER wear shorts!

Wear hearing protection devices and a broad-brimmed hat or helmet. Always wear eye protection such as goggles or safety glasses. Always wear a harness when operating a unit equipped with a blade. Always operate with both hands rmly gripping the unit.

Keep a proper footing and do not overreach maintain your balance at all times during operation.

Keep away from the rotating blade at all times, and never lift a moving attachment above waist-high.

Always make sure the appropriate cutting attachment shield is correctly installed and in good condition.

Be Aware of the Working Environment

Avoid long-term operation in very hot or very cold weather. Make sure bystanders or observers outside the 50-foot danger zone wear eye protection.

Be extremely careful of slippery terrain, especially during rainy weather.

Reduce the risk of bystanders being struck by ying debris. Make sure no one is within 50 feet (15 meters)thats about 16 pacesof an operating attachment.

Always make sure the appropriate cutting attachment shield is correctly installed.

If contact is made with a hard object, stop the engine and inspect the cutting attachment for damage.

When operating in rocky terrain or near electric wires or fences, use extreme caution to avoid contacting such items with the cutting attachment.

Be constantly alert for objects and debris that could be thrown either from the rotating cutting attachment or bounced from a hard surface.

Prior to Assembly
Before assembling this product, make sure you have all the components required for a complete unit. Engine assembly (powerhead).

Outer tube assembly. Cutting attachment shield. Double shoulder harness. Cutting attachment (trimmer head or brushcutter blade).

Tool kit, which includes 3mm, 4mm, and 5mm L type hexagonal wrenches, 8mm/l0mm open-end wrench, combination spark plug/tool and holder wrench. Components required for assembly (cable ties, throttle cable connector, and throttle cable sleeve).

Carefully inspect all components for damage. Included Accessories: Double shoulder harness, and tool kit. IMPORTANT! The terms left, left-hand, and LH; right, right-hand, and RH; front and rear refer to directions as viewed by the operator during normal operation of this product.

Install Mainshaft and Outer Tube.

1. Place the powerhead on a at surface, resting on its stand. 2. Lubricate the mainshaft splines with molybdenum disulde (moly) type grease. 3. Loosen the 6mm socket head cap screw on the powerhead union clamp. Verify that the D-shaped shim washer is positioned as shown in Figure 5. 4. Insert the shaft tube assembly into the powerhead connector clamp. Make sure the powerhead connector clamp aligns with the outer tube Insert up to here decal. See Figure 6.

5. If necessary, rotate the outer tube assembly until the gearcase output shaft is pointing down, opposite to the spark plug. 6. Tighten the union clamp screw securely. CAUTION! Do not remove the D-shaped shim washer! The shim washer prevents damage from overtightening the tube clamp screw.

CAUTION! Do not force the outer tube into the powerhead! Forcing the outer tube into the powerhead may damage the splines on the mainshaft and/or clutch drum shaft. If installation proves difcult, rotate the powerhead or mainshaft until you feel the mainshaft splines slide into the clutch drum shaft.

Install the Cutting Attachment Shield.

1. Insert the cutting attachment shield between the outer tube and the cutting attachment mounting plate. See Figure 7.

CAUTION! Make sure the clamp screw and retaining nut are securely tightened before tightening the four sockethead cap screws. 3. Tighten the four socket-head cap screws to secure the cutting attachment shield.

NEVER use this machine without sub-shield when using a trimmer head.

NOTE: It may be necessary to loosen the retaining nut and clamp screw to adjust cutting attachment shield mounting plate. 2. Fit the bracket over the outer tube and loosely install the four sockethead screws. See Figure 7.

CAUTION! Make sure the sub-guard is completely hooked at the hook receiver.

To Change Position of Line Cutter.

The line cutter can be positioned in 2 positions to obtain different line length for cutting. 1. Remove the 2 hex screws with a 4mm hex wrench. See Figure 7A. 2. Rotate line cutter. See Figure 7A. 3. Reinstall the two hex screws and tighten them securely. WARNING! The line cutter is very sharp. Wear gloves to protect your hands when handling. NOTE: Be careful to not lose the 2 nuts in the cutting attachment shield, they are not captured.

Throttle Cable Installation

1. Slide throttle cable and terminal wires through the cable clamp and grip. See Figure 8. 2. Install the throttle cable sleeve on the powerhead throttle cable. See Figure 8. 3. Connect the powerhead and the throttle cable ends. See Figure 9. IMPORTANT! Make sure the metal end of the powerhead throttle cable jacket ts in the grooved end of the cable connector. 4. Center the throttle cable sleeve over the connected cable ends and place the assembly in the throttle cable connector. See Figure 10. 5. Using hand pressure, close the throttle cable connector. See Figure 10. IMPORTANT! For steps 6 through 9, refer to gure 11. 6. Secure each end of the throttle connector with a cable tie. See Figure 11.

7. Connect the powerhead and stop switch wire terminals. 8. Connect the stop switch ground wire and the powerhead ground wire terminals.

9. Slide throttle cable and connected terminal wires into grip by gently pulling on throttle cable housing. See Figure 11.

Handlebar Installation
1. Remove the 4mm retaining screws and lower cap from the handlebar bracket. See Figure 12. 2. Mount the handlebar on the outer tube and align it with the Attach Handle On This Line decal. 3. Reinstall the lower cap and retaining bolts. Tighten the retaining screws evenly.

Adjust the Throttle

1. Test throttle control for smooth operation. If stiffness or binding are noted, the cause must be identied and corrected before the brushcutter can be placed in service. 2. Check the throttle control lever free play clearance. Free play should be approximately 0.276 inches (7 mm) in the idle position. See Figure 13. If necessary, the free play clearance can be adjusted as follows: (refer to Figure 14). a. Slide the adjuster cover forward to expose the cable adjuster. b. Loosen the cable lock nut. c. Thread or unthread the cable adjuster until the throttle control lever has approximately 0.276 inches (7 mm) of free play clearance. d. Tighten the cable lock nut. e. Slide the adjuster cover over the cable adjuster.

NOTE: The B530 is shipped with Holder A, the safety clips, Holder B, shaft bolt, and bolt guard installed. The shaft bolt is a LEFT-HAND THREAD AND IS REMOVED IN A CLOCKWISE ROTATION! 1. With the gearcase output shaft facing up, rotate the gearshaft and holder A until the hole in holder A aligns with the matching hole in the gearcase ange, and then lock the holder to the gearcase by inserting the ong end of the hex wrench through both long holes. See Figure 15. 2. Remove the shaft bolt, bolt guard and holder B. See Figure 15. 3. Slide the safety clip off center on the gearcase shaft. See Figure 16. 4. IMPORTANT! WARNING! The blade must t at against the holder ange. The blade mounting hole must be centered over the raised boss on blade holder A. NOTE: When installing certain blades, it may be necessary to temporarily remove the safety clip. 5. Lock the blade on the shaft by centering the safety clip. See Figure 18. 6. Install holder B on the gearcase shaft. See Figure 19. The machined recess in Holder B must completely surround the safety clip, and both holders must be at against the surface of the blade. 7. Lock holder A to the gearcase by inserting the long end of the hex wrench through both holes as done in step 1 and tighten the shaft bolt securely with the combination spark plug/screwdriver wrench. See Figure 20. 8. Remove the hex wrench.

The brushcutter should be fully assembled.

Install the Trimmer Head (optional)

NOTE: The B530 is shipped with Holder A, the blade retainer (safety clip), Holder B, shaft bolt, and bolt guard installed. The shaft bolt is a LEFT-HAND thread. Remove it by turning CLOCKWISE!

1. With the gearcase output shaft facing up, rotate the gearshaft and holder A until the hole in holder A aligns with the matching hole in the gearcase ange, and then lock the holder to the gearcase by inserting the long end of the hex wrench through both holes. See Figure 21. 2. Using the combination spark plug/ screwdriver wrench, remove the shaft bolt, bolt guard, holder B and the safety clip. (The bolt guard, shaft bolt and safety clip are not used with a trimmer head). See Figure 21. 3. Install Holder B on the gearcase shaft. The splined hole on Holder B must engage with the gearcase shaft. 4. Using the hex wrench to secure Holder A , install and hand-tighten the trimmer head (counter-clockwise to install). See Figure 22. 5. Remove the hex wrench from the gearcase and holder. 6. If the line cutter was removed during unit assembly, install the line cutter on the cutting attachment shield. See Page 7.

Mixing Fuel
CAUTION! Some types of gasoline contain alcohol as an oxygenate. Oxygenated gasoline may cause increased operating temperatures. Under certain conditions, alcoholbased gasoline may also reduce the lubricating qualities of some 2-cycle mixing oils. Never use any type of gasoline containing more than 10% alcohol by volume! Generic oils and some outboard oils may not be intended for use in high-performance 2cycle type engines, and should never be used in your Shindaiwa engine. CAUTION! This engine is designed to operate on a 50:1 mixture consisting of unleaded gasoline and a premium 2-cycle mixing oil only. Use of nonapproved mixing oils can lead to excessive maintenance costs and/ or engine damage. Use only fresh, clean unleaded gasoline with a pump octane of 87 or higher. Mix gasoline with 50:1 Shindaiwa Premium 2-cycle mixing oil or with an equivalent high quality 2-cycle mixing oil.

Filling the Fuel Tank

WARNING! Minimize the risk of re! STOP engine before refueling. ALWAYS allow the engine to cool before refueling! Wipe all spilled fuel and move the engine at least 10 feet (3 meters) from the fueling point and source before restarting! NEVER start or operate this unit if there is a fuel leak. NEVER start or operate this unit if the carburetor, fuel lines, fuel tank and/or fuel tank cap are damaged. NEVER smoke or light any res near the engine or fuel source! NEVER place any ammable material near the engine mufer! NEVER operate the engine without the mufer in good working condition. 1. Place the brushcutter on a at, level surface. 2. Clear any dirt or other debris from around the fuel ller cap. 3. Remove the fuel cap, and ll the tank with clean, fresh fuel. 4. Reinstall the fuel ller cap and tighten rmly. 2. Slide the ignition switch to the I (ON) position. See Figure 24. 3. Move choke lever down to the open choke position. See Figure 27.

Examples of 50:1 mixing quantities

1 gallon of gasoline to 2.6 oz. mixing oil 5 liters of gasoline to 100 ml. mixing oil IMPORTANT! Mix only enough fuel for your immediate needs! If fuel must be stored longer than 30 days and oil with fuel stabilizer is not used, it should rst be treated with a fuel stabilizer such as STA-BIL. Oil is a registered JASO FC classied oil and also meets or exceeds ISO-L-EGD performance requirements. Shindaiwa One is recommended for use in all Shindaiwa low emissions engines. Shindaiwa One also includes a fuel stabilizer.

1. Under normal conditions this machine can be started without setting the throttle control tofast idle position. However, if machine is difcult to start then set the engine control to fast idle as follows: (refer to Figure 23): a. Depress and hold throttle control lockout lever A and throttle control lever B. b. Depress throttle control lock button C and while holding throttle control lever lock button C in, release throttle control lever B and lockout lever A. c. Release throttle control lever lock button C. 2. Slide the ignition switch down to the I (ON) position. See Figure 24. IMPORTANT! A two-position ignition switch mounted on the throttle control body controls the engine ignition system. This switch button is labeled STOP and has a white arrow pointing towards the STOP position. The letter I (ON) and O (OFF) are embossed on the left side of the throttle handle, near the switch button.

1. Set the throttle control as described in Step 1 from above.

3. Purge the air from the carburetor fuel system by repeatedly depressing the carburetor primer bulb until resistance is felt and fuel ows back to the tank through the return tube. See Figure 25. 4. Move the choke lever to the close choke position. See Figure 26.

Starting the Engine

WARNING! Before starting the engine, make sure children, bystanders, and pets and/or any other objects are well clear of the cutting attachment! The cutting attachment will rotate when the engine is started with the throttle control set in the fast idle position. CAUTION! Never operate the brushcutter without a cutting attachment installed! 1. Place the unit rmly on the ground. 2. Hold the outer tube rmly with your left hand and grasp the starter handle with your right hand. 3. Pull the starter cord out slowly until you feel the starter engage. See Figure 28. 4. Pull the starter handle outward rapidly to start the engine. Make sure the cutting attachment is clear of obstructions!

When the engine starts or attempts to start

1. Move the choke lever down to the open choke position. See Figure 29. 2. If the engine stalls, repeat the applicable starting procedure for a warm or cold engine.

Starting a Flooded Engine

1. Slide the ignition switch button to the STOP position. 2. Disconnect the spark plug wire, and remove the spark plug. See Figure 29. 3. If the spark plug electrodes and ceramic insulator are fouled or soaked with fuel, clean or replace the plug. For spark plug specications and gapping procedure, refer to page 17. 4. Open the choke. 5. Hold the throttle control lever depressed and Rev the engine several times to clear excess fuel from the combustion chamber. CAUTION! Incorrect spark plug installation may cause serious engine damage!

6. Reinstall the spark plug nger tight and tighten it rmly with the spark plug wrench provided in the tool kit. If a torque wrench is available, torque the spark plug to 148-165 in.-lb. (170190 kgf cm).

Carburetor Adjustments
WARNING! The cutting attachment must NEVER rotate at engine idle speeds! The engine should return to normal idle speed whenever the throttle control lever is released. Idle speed is adjusted to permit the clutch mechanism to disengage power to the cutting attachment whenever the engine is idling at the specied setting. To adjust the idle speed: 1. Start the engine, and allow it to idle 2-3 minutes to warm up. 2. If the cutting attachment rotates while the engine is idling, turn the idle adjustment screw counterclockwise until the cutting attachment stops rotating. See Figure 31. 3. If a tachometer is available, adjust engine idle speed to 2500 RPM 250 RPM. If a tachometer is not available, adjust engine idle speed until the cutting attachment stops rotating.

Carburetor Adjustment
This B530 Brushcutter is equipped with an adjustable carburetor. On this unit, the carburetor fuel mixture setting may be readjusted as follows: CAUTION! The engine may be damaged if carburetor is adjusted incorrectly. A lean (air-rich) mixture setting can result in an engine seizure!

L = Low Speed Mixture from closed: 0-1/2 turns H = High Speed Mixture from closed: 2 1/4 turns The high-speed mixture screw must be adjusted so maximum engine speed does not exceed 11,000 RPM without a load. See Figure 31.

Shoulder Strap & Harness

IMPORTANT! Adjust the shoulder strap so the shoulder pad rests comfortably on the off-side shoulder and the cutting path of the cutting attachments is parallel to the ground. Make sure all hooks and adjustment devices are secure.

Double Shoulder Harness

Adjust the double shoulder harness straps so the shoulder pads rest comfortably on the offside of the shoulder and the cutting path of the blade is parallel to the ground. Make Figure 32 sure all hooks and adjusting devices are secure. See Figure 32.

Position of hanger
Adjust the hanger forward or backwards on the outer tube so that the unit is balanced and the cutting attachment is parallel with the ground.

Brushcutters
WARNING! Always wear a harness when operating this unit with a blade. NOTE: Using a harness with a bruscutter allows you to maintain proper control of the unit and reduces fatigue during extended operation.

Checking Unit Condition

NEVER operate the unit with the cutting ALWAYS make sure the cutting attachattachment shield or other protective ment is properly installed and rmly devices removed! tightened before operation. WARNING! A cutting attachment shield or other protective device is no guarantee of protection against ricochet. YOU MUST ALWAYS GUARD AGAINST FLYING DEBRIS! Use only authorized Shindaiwa parts and accessories with your Shindaiwa trimmer. Do not make modications to your unit without the written approval of Shindaiwa, Inc.

NEVER use a cracked or warped cutting attachment: replace it with a serviceable one. ALWAYS make sure the cutting attachment ts properly into the appropriate attachment holder. If a properly installed attachment vibrates, replace the attachment with new one and re-check.

ALWAYS stop the engine immediately and check for damage if you strike a foreign object or if the unit becomes tangled. Do not operate with broken or damaged equipment. NEVER allow the engine to run at high RPM without a load. Doing so could damage the engine. NEVER operate a unit with worn or damaged fasteners or attachment holders.

Using A Brushcutter Blade

Blade Thrust
WARNING! Before working with a bladeequipped unit, always inspect and clean the area of objects that could interfere with or damage the blade. Never use a blade near sidewalks, fence posts, buildings or other objects that could cause injury or damage. Never use a blade for purposes other than those for which it was designed. Whenever you strike a hard object with a blade, always stop the brushcutter and carefully inspect the blade for damage. NEVER OPERATE THE BRUSHCUTTER WITH A DAMAGED BLADE! A blade-equipped unit must be equipped with a bicycle-type handlebar as well as a harness or strap. Always make sure the cutting attachment shield is properly installed before operating the unit. The blade rotates counter-clockwise. For best performance and to minimize being struck by debris, move the blade from right to left while advancing on your work. Position the blade so cuts are made between the blades 8 oclock and 10 oclock positions (as viewed from above). DO NOT cut between the 10 oclock and 5 oclock positions (shaded area). See Figure 33.

WARNING! When cutting wood with a blade, feed the blade slowly. Never strike or slam a spinning blade against the wood.

Blade thrust is a sudden sideways or backward motion of the brushcutter. Such motion may occur when the blade jams or catches on an object such as a sapling tree or tree stump. BE CONSTANTLY ALERT FOR BLADE THRUST AND GUARD AGAINST ITS EFFECTS! A brushcutters handlebar helps prevent the operator from moving forward, or the unit moving rearward, thus preventing inadvertent bodily contact with the blade. ALWAYS KEEP THE HANDLEBAR SECURELY IN PLACE ON THE UNIT!

WARNING! DO NOT use 2-tooth or NONShindaiwa approved 4-tooth cutting blades with Shindaiwa brushcutters.

Vertical cuts
Hold the brushcutter with the blade at a 90 angle to the ground so the blades bottom edge rotates toward the operator. Move the blade from top to bottom through the cut, and cut only with the bottom edge of the blade. See Figure 34. WARNING! When making vertical cuts, never allow the blade to exceed waist height.

Brushcutter Harness

A harness provides additional protection against blade thrust. In addition, a harness gives signicant support and comfort to help ensure safe and efcient operation. When operating a brushcutter, make sure both the handle and harness are adjusted to the size of the operator using the unit.

Engine Operating Speeds

Operate the engine at full throttle while cutting. Best fuel efciency is obtained by releasing the throttle when swinging back after a cut. To prevent possible engine damage, do not allow the brushcutter to run at high speeds without a load. Avoid operating the attachment at low speeds. Doing so can lead to rapid clutch wear. In addition, slow-speed operation tends to cause grass and debris to wrap around the cutting head.

Trimming/Mowing Grass Using A Trimmer Head

CAUTION! Do not push the rotating trimmer line into trees, wire fences or any material that could entangle or break line. Your Shindaiwa B530 brushcutter can be equipped with one of several Shindaiwa trimmer head models, each with designed features for specic applications and/or to meet operational requirements. For the correct application and operation, always refer to the instructions included with the trimmer head. Available trimmer head models include: Semi-automatic: Trimmer line is fed when the head is rotating and operator taps the trimmer head line release button on the ground. Manual: The operator pulls the line out manually while the head is completely stopped. Fixed: The operator must stop the machine and add new pre-cut lengths of trimmer line manually. CAUTION! Operation at low speed may cause premature clutch failure. For best cutting performance and extending trimmer line life, follow these recommended procedures when using a string-type cutting head. See Figure 35. Cut from left to right, with the trimmer head angled slightly towards the cut. Use full throttle when cutting, then release the throttle momentarily before beginning the next cut. Cut only with the tip of the trimmer line.

Spark Arrester Installation

IMPORTANT! See Figure 37. 1. Obtain Spark Arrester and Gasket from an authorized Shindaiwa dealer. 2. Remove the mufer cover to gain access to the tail pipe. 3. Remove the tail pipe from the mufer. 4. Push the spark arrester and gasket into the exhaust opening and re-install tail pipe and retention screws. See Figure 37. 5. Re-install mufer cover.

WARNING! Never operate this machine with a damaged or missing mufer! Operating with missing or damaged exhaust components is a re hazard, and may also damage your hearing. If the unit has had the spark arrester installed, carbon deposits lodged in the spark arrester screen may cause hard starting or a gradual loss of performance. In such cases, removing the spark arrester screen and cleaning it with a stiff, bristle brush usually restores performance. If carbon deposits are heavy or no performance improvement is noted, the unit should be serviced by an authorized Shindaiwa service center.

Periodic Maintenance
WARNING! Before performing any service and maintenance or repair work on the machine, make sure that the switch button is in the STOP position and the engine and the cutting attachment are completely stopped. Always disconnect the spark plug lead.

10-hour Maintenance
Ever y 10-hours of operation(more frequently in dusty or dirty conditions): CAUTION! Do not operate the machine if the air cleaner assembly or element is dirty, damaged, or if the element is wet. Operating the engine with an air cleaner in any of these conditions will cause premature wear of internal components. 1. Inspect the lter. If the element is damaged or distorted, replace it with a new one. IMPORTANT! The B530 uses a special high capacity dry-type air lter element. The lter should not be cleaned with a liquid cleaner and must NEVER be oiled! 2. Tap lter gently on a hard surface to dislodge debris from element or use compressed air from the inside to blow debris from the air lter element.

Blades
WARNING! Never repair a damaged blade by welding, straightening, or by modifying its shape. An altered blade may break during operation, resulting in serious personal injury. DO NOT use 2-tooth (lawnmower type) cutting blades. Use only blades approved by Shindaiwa for use with your brushcutter, such as approved 3-tooth and 4-tooth cutting blades, Shindaiwa Tornado blades, and 30-tooth brushcutter blades. Shindaiwa edger blades and brushcutter blades are not interchangeable. Operating any machine with a blade or attachment not authorized for use on the unit can result in serious injury to the operator and/or bystanders. Keep blades sharp and check blade condition frequently. If cutting performance changes suddenly, stop the engine and check the blade for cracks or other damage. Replace the damaged blade immediately!

Daily Maintenance
Remove dirt or debris from the engine and mufer, check the cooling ns and air cleaner for clogging, and clean them as necessary. Check and clean the cooling system (air intake grills, ywheel ns, cylinder ns, and air lter). Dirt build-up in these areas could cause engine overheating, induce premature wear, or create a re hazard. Check for loose or missing bolts or components. Make sure the cutting attachment is securely fastened. Check the unit for leaking fuel or grease.

Spark Plug
Keep the spark plug and wire connections tight and clean. CAUTION! Before removing the spark plug, clean the area around the plug to prevent dirt and dust from getting into the engines internal parts. Ever y 10 to 15 hours of operation: Remove and clean the spark plug. Check the spark plug electrode gap. If needed, gap plug to 0.024 (0.6 mm). See Figure 39 & 40. Clean the spark plug and check the gap between the electrodes. If the plug must be replaced, use a NGK BMR6A.

50-hour Maintenance
(perform more frequently in dusty or dirty conditions) Remove and clean the cylinder cover and clean all grass and dirt deposits from the cylinder ns surface. Remove the cutting attachment and the gear shaft collar, and force new grease into the gearcase until the old grease has been pushed out. Use only lithium-base grease (such as Shindaiwa Gearcase Lubricant, P/N 13-57). See Figure 41.

Storage
Short Term Storage
(Less than 30 days) Clean the air lter. Clean cylinder ns, ywheel ns, and mufer surfaces. Clean cooling air intake grill. Clean debris from gearcase and outer tube exterior surfaces. Lubricate gearcase. See Figure 41. Drain fuel tank. Cover engine and store unit in a clean, dry place.

IMPORTANT! All units to be stored, for 30 days or longer, with fuel remaining in the fuel tank, hose, and carburetor and fuel system should be conditioned with a fuel stabilizer such as STA-BIL. Whenever the machine is going to be stored for 30 days and longer, prepare the unit for storage as follows: Drain all fuel from fuel tank and allow unit to run until all the fuel in the carburetor is spent. Remove the spark plug and pour about 1/4 ounce of oil into the cylinder through the spark plug hole. Slowly pull the recoil starter two or three times so oil will coat the cylinder wall and piston rings. Reinstall the spark plug. Repair damaged or faulty components as necessary. Service air lter as outlined in page 17. Clean all external parts thoroughly. Cover the engine and store the brushcutter in a clean, dry place.

Storing with fuel remaining in the fuel tank, fuel lines and carburetor may cause gum deposits in the fuel system. This units warranty policy does not provide coverage for damage caused by fuel gum or varnish deposits.

WARNING! Sharpen the cutting teeth only. DO NOT alter the contour of the blade in any way. When the blades cutting edges become slightly dull, they can be resharpened with a few strokes of a le. In order to keep the blade in balance; all cutting surfaces must be sharpened uniformly. Use a round le to maintain a radius of 0.04 to 0.06 (1 to 1.5 mm) at the base of each tooth. Teeth cutting edges must be offset equally on each side. See Figure 43.

As the engine owner, you should however be aware that Shindaiwa Kogyo Co., Ltd. may deny your warranty coverage if your engine or a part has failed due to abuse, neglect, improper maintenance or unapproved modications. Estos recibos y registros de mantenimiento debern transferirse a cada propietario subsiguiente del motor. Shin-Daiwa Kogyo Co. Ltd., se reserva el derecho de negar la cobertura de esta garanta en caso de que el propietario no hubiera dado un mantenimiento apropiado al motor. Mantenimiento Cada 50 Horas Almacenamiento

(menos de 30 das) Limpie el ltro de aire. Limpie las aletas del cilindro, aletas del volante y la supercie del silenciador. Limpie las rejillas de toma de aire para el enframiento. Limpie de la caja de engranajes y la supercie del tubo exterior. Lubrique la caja de engranajes como se ndica en la gura 41 de este manual. Vacie el tanque de combustible.

(ms frecuentemente bajo condiciones sucias o polvorientas) Retire y limpie la tapa del cilindro y elimine la maleza y la suciedad de la supercie de las aletas del cilindro.

IMPORTANTE! Toda mquina destinada a almacenarse por 30 das o ms con combustible en el tanque, manguera, carburador o sistema de combustible debe acondicionarse con un estabilizador de combustible tal como STA-BIL. Cada vez que la mquina va a ser almacenada por 30 das o ms, prepare la mquina para almacenar de la siguiente manera: Vacie el tanque de combustible y permita que el motor est encendido hasta que agote todo el combustible en el carburador.

Retire el accesorio de corte y el collar del eje de engranajes. Introduzca grasa nueva dentro de la hasta que la grasa usada haya salido. Consulte la gura 41. Use solamente grasa a base de litio (como por ejemplo, el lubricante para caja de cambios Shindaiwa P/N 13-57).

Cubra el motor y almacene la mquina en un sitio limpio y seco.

PRECAUCION!

Retire la buja y vierta aproximadamente dos gotas de aceite en el cilindro a travs del agujero de la buja. Haga que el motor de vueltas 2 3 veces para que el aceite se distribuya uniformemente en la pared del cilindro y en los anillos de los pistones. Renstale la buja. De haber alguna pieza daada en el motor, reprela conforme sea necesario. Limpie el ltro de aire de acuerdo a las instrucciones indicadas en la pgina 17. Limpie todas las partes externas y aplique una capa ligera de aceite a todas las supercies metlicas. Cubra el motor y almacene la desmalezadora en un sitio seco y limpio.

Silenciador
ADVERTENCIA! Nunca opere la mquina sin silenciador o guardachispas, o con alguno de estos componentes daados. El uso de la mquina con componentes daados o faltantes, representa un peligro de incedios y puede tambin daar su oido.

ADVERTENCIA! Antes de efectuar un servicio de mantenimiento o reparacin en la mquina, cercirese de que el interruptor est en posicin de apagado (STOP) y el accesorio de corte completamente detenido. Siempre desconecte el cable de la buja.

Discos/Cuchillas
ADVERTENCIA! Nunca repare un disco/cuchilla daado soldndolo, enderezndolo o modicando su forma. Una vez alterado, podra quebrarse en plena operacin y ocasionar lesiones personales serias.

No opere esta mquina si el ltro de aire o el elemento est sucio, daado o si est hmedo o impregnado con agua. El uso del motor con un ltro de aire bajo dichas condiciones puede causar el desgaste prematuro de los componentes internos. 1. Inspeccione el ltro. Si el elemento est daado o distorcionado, reemplcelo por uno nuevo. IMPORTANTE! La B530 usa un elemento seco de ltro de aire especial de alta capacidad. El ltro no debe de ser limpiado con un producto lquido y NUNCA debe ser aceitado!

Un arranque difcil o la prdida gradual de potencia se puede deber a la acumulacin de carbn en el silenciador o en la malla del guardachispas. En estos casos, generalmente la potencia se puede restablecer retirando la malla del guardachispas y limpindola con cepillo de cerdas de alambre. Si la acumulacin de carbn es severa o no se observa mejoramiento en el rendimiento del motor, ser necesario llevar la desmalezadora a un centro de servicios autorizado por Shindaiwa para revisarla.

Mantenimiento Diario

Elimine toda suciedad o residuo de csped del motor y del silenciador, revise las aletas de enframiento y el ltro de aire en busca de obstrucciones y lmpielos de ser necesario. Revise y limpie el sistema de enframiento (rea de admisin de aire, cavidad del volante, aletas del volante, aletas del cilindro y ltro de aire). La acumulacin de suciedad en dichas reas puede ocasionar el sobrecalentamiento del motor, desgaste prematuro a ciertos componentes o un incendio. Revise que no falten tornillos y que no haya componentes ojos. Cercirese de que el accesorio de corte est rmemente asegurado. Revise la mquina en busca de fugas de combustible o grasa.

No use discos/cuchillas (para podadoras) de 2 dientes. Use solamente discos/cuchillas aprobadas por Shindaiwa para el uso de su desmalezadora, tal como los discos/cuchillos de 3 y 4 dientes aprobados, discos/cuchillas Shindaiwa Tornado, y discos/cuchillas de 30 dientes para desmalezadoras.

2. Sobre una supercie dura dle una palmadita suavemente al ltro para desalojar despojos del elemento o use aire comprimido desde adentro para soplar polvo y/o suciedad del elemento del ltro de aire.
Filtro de aire

Los discos/cuchillas para corte de bordes y los discos/cuchillas para desmalezadoras no son intercambiables. El uso de cualquiera de estas mquinas con discos/cuchillas o accesorios no aprobados para la respectiva unidad puede ser peligroso y ocasionar lesiones graves al operario y/o transentes. Mantenga alados los discos/cuchillas e inspeccionelos frecuentemente. De notar algn cambio repentino en el rendimiento de la cuchilla, detenga el motor e inspeccinelo en busca de quebraduras o daos. Todo disco/cuchilla averiado debe cambiarse inmediatamente.

Corte/Poda de Casped con Cabezal de Nylon

PRECAUCION! PRECAUCION!

Corte De Bordes
Incline el mango aproximadamente 100 grados hacia la derecha (desde la posicin horizontal) y camine hacia adelante, con la desmalezadora B530 en posicin vertical. Consulte la gura 36.

No acerque el cabezal de nylon a rboles, cercas de alambre o cualquier otro material que pueda enredarse o quebrar el nylon.

Operacin a velocidades bajas puede causar fallas prematuras del embrague. Para obtener un mayor rendimiento y extender la vida til del nylon, siga los procedimientos indicados cuando use un cabezal de nylon (consulte la gura 35). Corte de derecha a izquierda, con el cabezal ligeramente en ngulo con respecto al rea de trabajo. Corte siempre con el motor a mxima potencia; luego reduzca un poco la velocidad antes de iniciar el prximo corte. Corte nicamente con la punta del nylon.

Uso de la Unidad con un Disco para Cortar Malezas

Las desmalezadoras provistas de discos para cortar maleza son herramientas profesionales que exigen cuidado y disciplina. Podr hacer un uso seguro y eciente de la desmalezadora con slo observar las siguientes pautas de operacin. ADVERTENCIA! Su desmalezadora est equipada con un mango tipo manubrio de bicicleta, un arns y un protector para el accesorio de corte. Todos estos accesorios deben estar debidamente instalados y ajustados de acuerdo a las instrucciones de este manual antes de usar esta mquina con un disco de corte, o un cabazal de lnea con accesorio de corte. Un modelo equipado con un disco puede lanzar o enredarse con objetos sueltos. Antes de comenzar, inspeccione cuidadosamente el rea de trabajo. Retire todos los objetos sueltos, tal como, rocas, vdrios rotos, clavos, cables,pitas los cuales pueden ser lanzados o enredados en el accesorio de corte. Fjese en la ubicacin de rocas grandes, tocones, y otros objetos jos para evitar golpearlos. Asegrese de que nios, personas y animales se mantengan a por lo menos 15 metros (50 pies) de distancia. De entrar nios, personas o animales a esta zona de seguridad, detenga inmediatamente su trabajo.no estn mal instalados o daados.

Manubrio ergonmico

El manubrio de la desmalezadora es un manubrio tipo ergonmico que contribuye a evitar que el operario se mueva hacia adelante o que la unidad se mueva hacia atrs, impidiendo as el contacto del cuerpo con el accesorio de corte. El manubrio ergonmico debe ser instalado de acuerdo a las instrucciones provistas en este manual. Siempre mantenga el manubrio asegurado rmemente al tubo exterior. El arns ofrece proteccin adicional contra los rebotes del disco. Adicionalmente, brinda un gran soporte y comodidad para una operacin segura y eciente. Mezcla de baja velocidad

Al soltar la palanca del control del acelerador, el motor debe volver a marcha mnima. La marcha mnima normal es ajustada para permitir que el mecanismo del embrague desenganche el motor del accesorio de corte cuando el motor est en velocidad mnima de acuerdo a las especicaciones. Para ajustar la velocidad mnima:

1. Encienda el motor y djelo funcionar en marcha mnima durante 2 3 minutos hasta que caliente. 2. Si el accesorio de corte gira mientras el motor est en marcha mnima, dele vuelta al tornillo de ajuste de marcha mnima en el sentido contrario a las agujas del reloj hasta que el accesorio de corte deje de girar. Consulte la gura 31. 3. Si tiene un tacmetro disponible, la marcha mnima se debe ajustar a 2500-RPM + 250 RPM. Si no tiene un tacmetro disponible, ajuste la marcha mnima hasta que el accesorio de corte pare de girar.

La desmalezadora B530 esta equipada con un carburador ajustable. En esta unidad, la mezcla prejada de combustible del carburador puede reajustarse de acuerdo a lo siguiente: PRECAUCION! El motor puede ser daado si el carburador es ajustado incorrectamente. Una mezcla pobre (rica en aire) puede resultar en que el motor se funda.

L= Mezcla de velocidad baja desde la posicin cerrada: 0-1/2 vueltas H= Mezcla de velocidad alta desde la posicin cerrada: 2+1/4 vueltas El tornillo de mezcla de alta velocidad debe ser ajustado de forma que la velocidad mxima del motor no exceda 11,000 RPM sin una carga. Consulte la gura 31.

Arns
Ajuste los tirantes del arns de forma que la almohadilla de hombros descanse comodamente sobre los hombros y que la trayectoria del disco de corte est paralelo al Figura 32 suelo. Cercirese de que todo los accesorios de ajuste y ganchos estn asegurados. Ver gura 32.

Posicin del colgador

Inserte el gancho del arns dentro de uno de los cuatro huecos en el colgador de forma que la mquina est balanceada y el accesorio de corte est paralelo al suelo.

Comprobacin del Estado de la Unidad

NUNCA use la unidad sin el protector del accesorio de corte y/o sin otros dispositivos de seguridad. SIEMPRE asegrese de que el accesorio de corte est debidamente instalado dentro del porta cortador apropriado. SIEMPRE asegrese de que el accesorio de corte este debidamente instalado y asegurado en posicin. Si observa que el accesorio vibra a pesar de estar bien instalado, cmbielo por uno nuevo y vuelva a inspeccionarlo.

SIEMPRE apague el motor inmediatamente si la mquina golpea un objeto o se enreda e inspeccione en busca de daos. NUNCA corte con cuchillas desaladas. Use cuchillas aladas y en buenas condiciones. NUNCA haga funcionar la mquina si sta tiene sujetadores o los soportes de los accesorios desgastados o daados.

NUNCA deje que el motor funcione a altas velociades sin carga. El sobre revolocionar el motor varias veces sin carga podria daarlo.

Cuando el motor enciende o trata de encender

Combustible
PRECAUCION! Algunos tipos de gasolina contienen alcohol y oxigenados. Gasolina oxigenada puede aumentar la temperatura generada durante el funcionamiento del motor. Bajo ciertas condiciones, gasolina con alcohol puede reducir las propiedades lubricantes de ciertos aceites de mezcla para motores de 2 tiempos.

Llenando el tanque de combustible

ADVERTENCIA!

IMPORTANTE! Este motor est certicado nicamente para funcionar con una mezcla de 50:1 de gasolina sin plomo y aceite de mezclar para motores de 2 tiempos. Mezcle solamente el combustible necesario para uso inmediato. De ser necesario almacenar el combustible por ms de 30 das, mzclelo primero con un estabilizador, como STA-BIL. Mezcle combustible combinando gasolina sin plomo y aceite Shindaiwa Premium de dos tiempos en proporcin de 50:1 (un litro de gasolina mzclada con 20 ml uidas de aceite de mezclar de 2 tiempos). Use nicamente gasolina fresca, limpia y sin plomo, con ndice de octanaje de 87 o superior.

Nunca use ningn tipo de gasolina que contenga ms de 10% de acohol por volumen! Aceites de marca genrica y algunos aceites para motores de fuera de borda pueda que no sean elaborados para el uso en motores de 2 tiempos de alto rendimiento y nunca deben ser usados en su motor Shindaiwa.

Disminuya el riesgo de incendios! Siempre deje enfriar el motor antes de volver a llenar el tanque! Limpie todo derrame de combustible y aleje la desmalezadora por lo menos 10 pies (3 metros) del depsito y tanque de combustible antes de volver a encender el motor! Nunca fume ni encienda fuegos cerca de la desmalezadora ni del depsito de combustible! Nunca coloque material inamable cerca del silenciador del motor! Nunca opere el motor sin antes comprobar que el silenciador estn funcionando adecuadamente. 1. Coloque la desmalezadora sobre una supercie plana y nivelada. 2. Limpie cualquier tierra o desperdicio alrededor de la tapa del tanque de combustible. 3. Retire la tapa del tanque y llene el tanque con una mezcla de combustible fresco y limpio. 4. Instale la tapa del tanque y apritela rmemente.

El sistema de encendido del motor montado en el cuerpo del acelerador es controlado por un interruptor de dos contactos. Dicho interruptor est indicado con la palabra STOP y tiene una echa blanca indicando la posicin de apagado. La letra I, que signica encendido (ON) y la letra O, que signica apagado (OFF) aparecen en el lado izquierdo del acelerador, cerca del botn del interruptor. 2. Deslice el interruptor del sistema de encendido a la posicin marcada I (encendido). Consulte la gura 24.

Expulse el aire del carburador del sistema de combustible , oprimiendo la bombilla de cebado varias veces hasta que sienta resistencia y que el combustible uya de regreso hacia el tanque por la manguera de retorno. Consulte la gura 20. 8. Retire la llave hexagonal.

ADVERTENCIA! Nunca opere la desmalezadora sin el retn de seguridad instalado y ambos sujetadores asegurados rmemente y planos contra la supercie del disco !

La desmalezadora debe estar completamente ensamblada.

ADVERTENCIA! El disco debe encajar en forma plana contra el borde del sujetador. La muesca de montaje del disco debe estar centrada sobre el patrn elevado en el sujetador de disco A.

Antes de ensamblar este producto, cercirese de que tenga todos los componentes necesarios para armar una unidad completa:

Llaves tipo Allen de 3mm, 4mm y 5mm, llave de boca de 8mm/10mm, combinacin de llave buja y porta herramienta.

Inspeccione cuidadosamente todos los componentes en busca de daos. Accesorios Includos: Arns tipo chaleco, y juego de herramientas. IMPORTANTE!

Motor. Tubo exterior completo. Protector del accesorio de corte. Arns. Accesorio de corte (cabezal de nylon o disco para cortar maleza).

Componentes requeridos para el ensamblaje (amarres de cable, conector del cable de acelerador y pasa cable del acelerador).

Los trminos izquierda, y mano izquierda, derecha, y mano derecha, delantera y trasera, indican direcciones desde el punto de vista del operario durante la operacin normal de este producto.

Instale el eje principal y el tubo exterior.

Consulte la gura 5. 1. Coloque el motor sobre una supercie plana, apoyado de su pedestal. 2. Lubrique las puntas estriadas del eje central con una grasa de base de molibdeno. 3. Aoje el tornillo de jacin de 6mm en la unin de la abrazadera del tren motor. Consulte la gura 6. 4. Inserte el conjunto del tubo dentro de la unin del motor. Cercirese de que la unin motor est alineada con la calcomana Insert up-to here en el tubo exterior. Consulte la gura 5.

5. Si es necesario, gire el tubo exterior hasta que el eje de slida de la caja de cambios quede apuntando hacia abajo en direccin opuesta a la buja. 6. Apriete rmemente el tornillo en la unin de la abrazadera. PRECAUCION! No debe quilarse la arandela de calce D! La arandela del calce previene dao en caso de sobre-ajustar el tornillo de la abrazadera.

PRECAUCION! No fuerce el tubo exterior dentro del motor! Esto puede daar las estrillas del eje principal y/o el asta del tambor de embrague. Si la instalacin se diculta, gire el motor o el eje principal hasta que sienta que las estrillas del eje principal encajen dentro del tambor de embrague.

Evite trabajar durante largo tiempo bajo temperaturas muy calientes o muy fras.

Tenga extremado cuidado al trabajar sobre terrenos resbalosos, especialmente en tiempo de lluvia.

Reduzca el riesgo de que algn transente sea golpeado por un objeto volante. Asegurese de que nadie est dentro de 50 pes (15 metros) de distancia de un accesorio en operacin. Esto es aproximadamente 16 pasos.

Si hace contacto con un objeto slido, detenga el motor e inspeccione el accesorio de corte en busca de daos.

Siempre cercirese de que el protector del accesorio de corte est correctamente instalado.

Cuando trabaje en un terreno rocoso o cerca de cables o cercas elctricas, use extremo cuidado y evite tocarlos con el accesorio de corte.

Instrucciones Generales de Seguridad

ADVERTENCIA! Use Buen Juicio SIEMPRE use proteccin para los ojos como escudo contra objetos lanzados. NUNCA arranque el motor cuando transporte la mquina. NUNCA opere la mquina en el interior! Cerciore que siempre haya buena ventilacin. El humo o gases del escape del motor pueden causar serias lesiones o la muerte. SIEMPRE mantenga su area de trabajo libre de basura u objetos que pueden rebotar contra usted o contra transentes. SIEMPRE use el accesorio de corte apropiado. SIEMPRE pare el motor inmediatamente si repentinamente empieza a vibrar. Inspeccione y busque accesorios o partes quebradas, faltantes o instaladas incorrectamente. SIEMPRE mantenga la mquina lo ms limpia posible. Mantengala libre de vegetacin, barro, etc. SIEMPRE sujete la mquina rmemente con ambas manos cuando corte o recorte, y mantenga el control en todo momento. SIEMPRE mantenga los mangos limpios. SIEMPRE descenecte el cable de buja antes de hacer mantenimiento a la mquina. SIEMPRE si el disco/cuchilla se enreda en un corte, apague el motor inmediatamente. Saque la rama o rbol para liberar el disco/cuchilla. IMPORTANTE! Las desmalezadoras B530 no tienen las guardachispas ya instaladas en los silenciadores. Antes de usar la mquina averigue con las normas locales y federales para determinar si guardachispas son requeridas. Vea pgina 16 para las instrucciones de instalacin.

El Operario Propiamente Equipado

Use un protector auditivo y un casco o sombrero con alas.

Siempre use proteccin para los ojos tal como lentes de seguridad.

Use ropa de su talla para protejer su piernas y brazos. Los guantes siempre proveen proteccin adicional y son altamente recomendados. No use ropa holgada o joyas que puedan atascarse en la mquina o en la vegetacin. Amrrese el cabello largo de tal forma que est sobre el nivel de los hombros. NUNCA use pantalones cortos.

Siempre opere con ambas manos sujetando el mango rmemente.

Mantengase alejado disco de cortar maleza en rotacin en todo momento, y nunca levante un accesorio en rotacin ms arriba de su cintura.

Mantenga una posicin apropiada y nunca extienda el cuerpo. Mantenga su balance en todo momento durante el uso de la mquina.

Use calzado apropiado (botas o zapatos antideslizantes): no use zapatos con los dedos descubiertos o sandalias. Nunca opere la mquina descalzo!

No opere esta unidad conun disco/cuchilla al menos de que est equipada con un mango aprobado por Shindaiwa. Siempre use un arns cuando opere esta unidad con disco/cuchilla. Un arnes tambien es recomendado cuando use cable de nylon. Si esta unidad se usa como una desmalezadora, mantengase alerta de los rebotes del disco. Un disco atascado puede causar que la desmalezadora tenga movimientos repentinos y puede que el operador pierda control de la maquina.

SIEMPRE pare el motor y permita que se enfrie antes de volver a llenar el tanque. Evite sobre llenar el tanque y limpie cualquier derrame de combustible. SIEMPRE inspeccione la mquina por prdidas de combustible, antes de cada uso. Durante cada llenado, verique posibles prdidas alrededor de la tapa o tanque de combustible. Si existen prdidas de combustible evidentes, para inmediatamente de utilizar la mquina. Prdidas de combustible deben de ser reparadas antes de cada uso. SIEMPRE aleje la mquina del rea de combustible o de otros materiales inamables antes de arrancar el motor. NUNCA coloque materiales inamables cerca del silenciador de la mquina.
