Hypersonic Propulsion Development and Testing: NASA has a continuing program in hypersonic aero-thermodynamics and air-breathing propulsion in support of space transportation
systems development technologies. This program involves research related to ramjet and scramjet propulsion flow-paths alone and combined with turbine or rocket-based cycles, which
support national programs such as Hypersonic X-Plane, Advanced Reusable Transportation, and Spaceliner. The Contractor shall operate and maintain certain NASA test facilities for the
purpose of conducting hypersonic technology research at conditions that duplicate atmospheric flight from sea-level-static (SLS) to Mach 20 and above. These tests shall include the use of
measurement systems and test techniques to acquire the appropriate experimental data that define the test conditions and enable determination of the performance of the test article or
hardware. The Contractor shall design, fabricate, instrument, and test specific test hardware and models and report the results, as specified in individual task assignments. The objective of
this contract is the advancement of hypersonic technologies to further the achievement of air-breathing trans-atmospheric flight to enable more efficient space access.
