Summer Fun!
Many people ask me how long I will be in Honduras...my response, I am here for now, until God calls me elsewhere. Why? In the words of a popular praise song...Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe. Well, it's officially summer here in Honduras. We did receive a little bit of rain in the month of May and now we are into the hot and dry season. All the trees along the road are some shade of brown. The road is very dusty and the sun is very hot. Just riding the motorcycle back and forth daily, I am getting a pretty nice tan on my arms. It's sometimes hard to stay hydrated in this heat. Please pray for health for the missionaries here. I just finished a 12-week, inductive Bible study on the book of 1Peter with 6 other missionary women. It was such a blessing learning about suffering, submission, holiness, grace, salvation, eternal perspective and humility. It has been a blessing in my devotional time with the Lord. He has shown me new and exciting things such as how much I am an alien and a stranger here on earth because this is not my home. I am to have an eternal perspective knowing that I am living on this earth temporarily. God is changing my perspective, renewing my mind, and drawing me closer to Him. When I got back from the states in February, the girls in my Bible study kept asking, every time they saw me, when we were starting Bible study again. I had thought about stopping it, thinking they were losing interest as they got older. But, with all that interest, I couldn't stop. Shortly thereafter, God started working in two of their lives in very obvious ways. Please pray for them (Andrea, Samely, Dania, and Cindy), that God would transform their lives. I am claiming Isaiah 55:11 for these girls knowing that God's word is active and will accomplish what He desires.

We are going through big changes at the hospital. The Honduran government has raised the minimum wage by 46%. We, as a mission, cannot support a change that great and still keep the doors of the hospital open. So, we have raised their wages and cut their hours hoping this will work. We have had to let people go, cut hours and change the clinic schedule. Starting May 1st, the clinic part of the hospital is only open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The rest of the week we are open 24 hours as an urgent care center. We have a skeleton staff on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Many of the employees are anxious about all the changes. We just started this past week with their new wages and less hours. We are in the trial stage to see if it will actually work. Please pray for our employees and the changes. We need the Lord's wisdom and grace. Please pray for the Honduran church that I attend in the little town of Margarita where I have been teaching Sunday school for two years. We recently baptized two brothers named Raul and Gabriel (16 and 18) which was a wonderful testimony to what God is doing in Margarita. What a wonderful example for the other youth in the church. Please pray for them as they continue to grow into the men God created them to be. We really need good leaders to step up right now. Norma, who started the church about 8 years ago, is leaving to go back to Guatemala, where she originally was a missionary. Lucy, a missionary from Guatemala who was here for about 8 months, will come back to help in September. I will continue to teach Sunday school. God has a plan for our church. We are entrusting it into his hands.
