Reception, Year 1 and 2 had a special treat last Wednesday when two actors from Rose Bruford College performed their play, How High. From fairy tale giants, to the tallest buildings, from the highest of high jumps, to simply growing up, the play explored children's relationship to the world through the notion of height. It was the fourth collaboration between Bexley Borough Council and Rose Bruford College's homegrown children's theatre company Theatre Jemilda, as part of their response to 2012 and the Cultural Olympiad. Faster, Stronger, Higher (the Olympic motto) was the inspiration for much of the work so far. This lively piece of music-theatre supports the English, Art and Design, Music and Maths areas of the Primary Curriculum, as well as offering children an opportunity to consider their place in what is often a very grown-up world. The children (and the teachers!) had a great time, and all were chatting about the play for days to follow! Many thanks to Miss hope for organising this event.

FOOTBALL: The girls football team played in a Bexley Tournament and won their first two games, 5-0 and 2-0 but lost their second two. The girls played very well and we were all proud of them. They behaved well and in a sporting manner. The organiser said we had some very good players! Many thanks to Mr Capelli for coaching the team. FOOTBALL REPORT FROM Aaliyeah Weise Forbes 5C: The Brampton Girls football team were anxious as they were soon to play their end of the league match on Saturday. They had been doing particularly well and had won most of their matches despite being new to the league. The team was made up of an unlikely bunch of characters: Francesca, Libby, two Ellies Aaliyeah, Patsy, Taylor, and also the fantastic goalkeeper Charlotte. The team were so nervous about their forthcoming match and they could also sense that the team coach was too. Mo was not the usually nervous type but he new that winning the league was important to all of the girls and would be a good indication of all his hard work that he had put into training the team. The match was only 5 hours away but the girls did not stop practices until the final 3 hours. After Patsy, Aaliyeah, Taylor went off to Thorpe Park. They got the train there but they packed their clothes neatly. They were in high spirits they went on lots of rides nevertheless they just noticed they had an hour to make the most difficult match of the year. They made it back in time but youll never guess what? Tyler, Ted, Conor, Can and Dylan V were there. Also they won! They were so cheerful all of them had a celebration spraying water, dropping on the floor, some were even crying. Mo said You lot did brilliant today well done. After that all of them went back to Thorpe Park. SWIMMING REPORT FROM Danielle Hills 6M: Lawrence Goff, George and Danielle Hills, all swam in a Bexley School Swimming Gala representing the school. George swam two races , front crawl and backstroke. He came 1st in both races in the heats, but in the finals he came 2nd in the front crawl and 1st in the backstroke. For his front crawl he got a silver medal and in his backstroke he didnt get a medal or trophy because he false started. But luckily he is still going to Crystal Palace. Lawrence swam in the same races as George, front crawl and backstroke. In the heats he came 4th in the backstroke and 6th in the front crawl. He made it to the finals and did really well for his age. Unfortunately he did not make it to Crystal Palace. I swam in the breaststroke and front crawl; I came 1st in breaststroke and 2nd in the front crawl for the heats, and in the finals I came 1st in the breaststroke and 4th in the front crawl so I am going to Crystal Palace for the breaststroke. I got a trophy for my breaststroke in the finals as well. KWIK CRICKET REPORT FROM Survin Appanah and Toby Smith in 6S: Brampton school got picked to go to Bexley Grammar for a Kwik Cricket tournament, to qualify for the final at Dartfordians cricket club. Mrs Stewart picked her team for the qualifiers and this team was Toby, Survin, Jamie, Mark, Sorrel, Nikita and Leyla.This team went to the cricket at Bexley Grammar school and Toby lead the way. We started off with a close game with Danson but we pulled with a win. Then we won our second game which was much easier. After we played St Stephens but we lost by a couple of points. Disappointingly we lost on runs against Danson. Luckily there were enough spaces for us so we qualified for the finals at Dartfordians. We all felt nervous as we were playing last years

Thank you KWIK CRICKET Continued: winners and the favouritesOld Bexley. Even though we lost we felt relieved we got the best team out the way. Then it was straight forward. In our third game against Trinity school we did not feel the umpire was up to standard because he did not let us use our own bat which was allowed under Kwik Cricket regulations which lead us to lose. But we didnt let it get to us. Unfortunately we came third in our group but it wasnt over. We got put up against St Stephens for 10-11 and it repeated what happened in the first match. So we played for 11-12 and we succeeded in winning in style by forty points. So out of 16 teams in the final we came 11 but in the borough we came 11 out of 60. Many thanks to Mrs Stewart for managing and organising the team. FOB News The last FOB meeting of the year is on Thursday 12th June. We look forward to seeing you. Governor NewsTeaching and Learning Committee This committee met on June 14th. They received a report on SEN and School Self review. They considered the school session times and proposed school visits and School Journey. Training was offered from the Local Authority on Exclusion Guidance.

Congratulations to Blue House members!

Our New Managed Learning Environment Last week Miss Cross made a presentation to a small group of parents showing them our new Managed Learning Environment (MLE) called DB Primary. It will be used as an on-line teaching and learning resource, both inside and outside school. All pupils and staff have been given their own account and its use is increasing as staff, children and parents become familiar with it. Please visit the DB Primary website, www.brampton.bexley.dbprimary.com and use the log in box on the left hand side where you can see your childs homepage which may contain tasks for your child to complete, forums to contribute to and various links to relevant educational resources to support your childs learning at home. It is also a way to complete homework using ICT and send it into school. The parents who were able to attend found the presentation interesting and many commented on how their children are using it already. Many thanks to Miss Cross for her time. And finally.......Goodbye and Good Luck to Mrs Croft in the office is starting a new job at a childrens centre after seven years at Brampton. We wish her well and look forward to hearing about her new arrival soon! Mrs Eaton and Mrs Jackson will be covering her timetable until the end of term.
