The primary difference lies in the complex clip and chambering mechanism that allows that gives the repeating crossbow its name. Standard repeating crossbows come with a clip large enough to contain three bolts. Each time the crossbow is fired, a pressure-sensitive spring located at the bottom of the clip pushes a bolt into place within the firing-chamber, located at the base of the crossbow. This process is near instant, saving the user time that would normally be spent reloading another bolt. The only delay between firing comes from resetting the crossbow's string, however, a sophisticated lever-action system requires the user to only pull on a small handle jutting from the top of the crossbow in order to reset the string. Thus, a user armed with this weapon has an almost unprecedented rate of fire at his disposal.
