Interferes with bacterial cell wall synthesis during active multiplication, causing cell wall death and resultant bactericidal activity against susceptible bacteria.
Indication/ Contraindication Indication: Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections; susceptible bacterial infections caused by streptococci, Pneumococci, Nonpenicillinaseproducing Staphylococci, Listeria, Miningococci.
Side Effects
Nursing Responsibilities Physical Assessment: -Assist for allergy history prior to starting therapy. -See contraindication and warnings/precautions for use caution. -Monitor therapeutic effectiveness and adverse reaction (E.g. opportunistic infection: Fever, Chills, and Fatigue). -Teach patient proper use, possible side effects/appropriate interventions, and adverse symptoms to report. Patient Education: -Tell patient that do not take any new medication during therapy unless approved by prescriber. -Take the entire prescription, even if you are feeling better.
Inflammation and redness of tongue. Irritation of mouth and throat, mild diarrhea, nausea, vomiting. Seek medical attention right away if severe side effects occur when using ampicillin: Contraindication: severe allergic Hypersensitivity to reactions ampicillin, any (rash, itching, component of the DOB, formulation, or tightness in other penicillins. chest, swelling of mouth, face. Lips, or tongue), bloody stool, severe diarrhea, stomach pain or cramps.

Indication/ Contraindication Indication: Treatment of infections caused by, group B Streptococci, H. Influenza, E. coli, Enterobacter, Salmonella, and Klebsiella; Treatment of susceptible infection of lower respiratory tract, Otitis media, Urinary Tract, Skin and Soft Tissue, Bone and joint, Sepsis and Gonorrhea. Contraindication: Hypersensitivity to cefuroxime any component of the formulation, or other cephalosporins.

Indication: Prevention of exercise-induced asthma, acute bronchospasm, bronchitis, emphysema, bronchiectasis, or other reversible airway obstruction
Assess: - Respiratory function: vital capacity, forced expiratory volume, ABGs; lung sounds, heart rate and rhythm -For evidence of allergic reactions Teach patient/family: -Not to use OTC medications; excess stimulation may occur -To avoid smoking, smokefilled rooms, persons with respiratory infections. -To limit caffeine products such as chocolate, coffee, tea, and colas

Classification: Antipyretic, Analgesic Action: Reduces fever by acting on the hypothalamus to cause vasodilation and sweating
Indication: Treatment of mild to moderate pain and fever; does not have antirheumatic or anti-inflamatory effects. Contraindication: Hypersensitivity to acetaminophen or any formulation.
Rash, Anemia, blood dyscrasia (neutropenia, pancytopenia and leucopenia), Liver damage can rarely occur,
Physical Assessment: -Assess patient for history of liver disease or ethanol abuse (acetaminophen and excessive ethanol abuse may have adverse liver effects). -Monitor vital signs and signs of adverse reaction at beginning of therapy and at regular intervals with longterm use. -Teach patient to Monitor for Adverse reactions, Adverse reaction to report, and appropriate interventions to reduce side effects. Patient Education: -informed patient to take exactly as directed; do not increase dose or frequency. -Tell patient to take this drug with food or milk. and while using this medication avoid or limit alcohol

Indication/ Contraindication Indication: Treatment of appendicitis (complicated by rupture, abscess), peritonitis, uncomplicated and complicated skin and skin-structured infections, including cellulites, cutaneous abscesses, ischemic or diabetic foot infections, post partum endumitritis, pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), community acquired pneumonia, moderate to severe nosocomial pneumonia.

Nursing Responsibilities -Question for history of allergy especially to penicillin, and cephalosporin. -Tell patient to Monitor for Adverse reactions, Adverse reaction to report, and appropriate interventions to reduce side effects.
Action: Pipiracillin inhibits cell wall synthesis by binding to bacterial cell membranes. Tazobactam inactivates bacterial betalactamase.
