GROUND AVOIDANCE GROUND ESCAPE INSTRUCTOR SEMINAR

WHY THE PPCT SYSTEM? Before any administrator adopts any training program, he should examine how the program was developed, the history of the programs success, and how the program can help minimize departmental liability. No other subject control system has the existing track record of the PPCT Defensive Tactics System. DEVELOPMENT: This system of subject control was designed from the following research TACTICAL: Research provides a foundation for recognizing the needs of officers to select proper control techniques under a variety of situations. LEGAL: The PPCT System has developed a Use of Force Continuum which places every technique into a force category. Participants learn how to teach other officers how to use the force continuum when writing reports and testifying in court. MEDICAL: Compensatory damages are based upon degree of a subject injury. To ensure that all techniques have minimal implications of injury, every technique has been examined by physicians to determine the potential for injury. Every instructor manual has a medical evaluation on each technique. Present By:

Ground Avoidance Ground Escape (GAGE)

One of law enforcement officers greatest fears is being knocked to the ground during a physical confrontation and finding himself/herself unable to successfully recover from such a vulnerable and potentially deadly position. Several subject control systems offer a ground defense system, however, few focus on teaching officers how to control their actions and conserve energy while on the ground. Energy and strength are important factors that impact an officers ability to ultimately regain control of the situation. Thus, there is a need for a ground defense system that teaches an officer how to tactically prepare for and manage a subjects actions. The PPCT GAGE program will teach an officer how to fall in order to minimize injury, how to defend him/herself while on the ground, conserving and maximizing energy, and how to regain a standing position to ultimately control and survive the situation.

COURSE CONTENT
USE OF FORCE HUMAN FACTORS provides information that enhances survivability is a combative situation and to provide recommendations regarding issues related to critical incident management. FALLING SAFELY is first consideration. In event officer is surprised and finds him/herself knocked off balance or being thrown to the ground, there are ways to reduce the chance of injury from the fall itself. GROUND AVOIDANCE because of the restraints of equipment, uniforms, and the tremendous energy demands of grappling, officers are better able to control resistance from a standing position. The avoidance techniques emphasize stopping the charging assault and keeping the officer on his feet. GROUNDDEFENSE POSITION examination of defensive positions for the officer that finds themselves on the ground. GROUND ESCAPES examination of the mechanisms of escape from each of the four positions of assault. INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT addresses the body of knowledge that is the foundation of the PPCT system.
