Professor Martin is a world-renowned authority on the prevention of youth suicide. He is Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Queensland, Clinical Director of Adolescent Psychiatry at the Brisbane Royal Childrens Hospital, and Director for the Centre for Suicide Prevention Studies in Young People at the University of Queensland. Professor Martins opening address will explore the constructs of resilience and connectedness - what it is, how we get it, how we improve it. He will also share with us his own story of how connectedness and resilience contributed to his recovery from personal illness. Professor Martins presentation is proudly supported by the Queensland Branch of AMTA.
Dr Annie Heiderscheit
This PDS workshop will explore how collaboration helps to develop and foster the growth and advancement of our profession. We will identify what elements are necessary for collaboration to be successful. We will discover the qualities and characteristics that are vital to being resilient in our clinical practice and our profession, and how these serve as a protective barrier to burnout. We will experience and explore the role and importance of connectedness in our clinical practice, our own well being, and our development as a profession.
