Kratom Awareness

Before The Purchase.

Kratom History & the Law

Kratom is a leaf that comes from a tree that is part of the Rubiaceae family, (the same family as coffee). Its botanical name is Mitragyna speciosa. The Kratom tree is indigenous to Southeast Asia and its leaves have been used in that area of the world for so long that a beginning date cannot be determined. The western world became aware of its existence when the Dutch botanist Pieter Willem Korthals first documented it somewhere between 1831 -1836. At that time its primary uses were to treat pain, diarrhea, fatigue, fever, and mental instability. Since then kratom has continued to be used for those same reasons as well as others. When the Chinese introduced opium trading, kratom was found to have another use. The people of Southeast Asia began using kratom to prevent the painful symptoms associated with withdrawals from opium addiction. Kratom became a highly effective way for addicts to end their dependency on opium and other opiate substances. As popularity of this use of kratom spread, it began to hurt the opium traders business. The economic influence the opium traders had over the government of Thailand proved to be too strong for kratom and it was declared illegal with passage of what is known as the Kratom Act 2486. Besides Thailand, possession of Kratom is illegal in Australia, Malaysia, and Myanmar. It is legal in all European countries as well as all of the United States.

Kratom Benefits & Effects

Leaves from the Kratom tree have had a wide range of uses by the people of Southeast Asia who have known and utilized the benefits of this miracle plant for centuries. Its popularity has grown in the western nations of the world as more and more people are becoming aware of the versatility of this plant. In smaller doses kratom has been known to produce stimulation, motivation, a

heightened desire to work, extended energy, relief from fatigue, increased focus and mental awareness, increased social and communication skills, relief from anxiety and depression, and an overall feeling of euphoria. Larger doses have been known to produce many or all of these effects as well as incorporate a pain relieving and analgesic aspect not usually noticed in the use of smaller doses. Alkaloid content seems to also play a role in determining which characteristics manifest in certain types of kratom. There are 25 known alkaloids in kratom. Kratom plants containing higher levels of mitragynine are known to have more stimulating effects. Those containing higher levels of the alkaloid 7-hydroxymitragynine are used more for sedation and pain killing, with stronger analgesic activity than morphine. Today, one of the most common and beneficial uses of kratom is to relieve symptoms associated with drug (especially opiates) and alcohol withdrawals. Kratom has also been known to be used for relief from allergy and cold symptoms, as a cough suppressant, fever reducer, to normalize blood pressure and blood sugar levels, to fight intestinal parasites, treat diarrhea, increase melanin production in the skin to aid in protection from the sun, and to prolong sexual intercourse. The other noteworthy benefit of kratom is its use to fight immune system disorders and boost the immune system. This could be due to the fact that kratom is rich in antiviral compounds and contains 20 times the amount of antioxidants as green tea.

Kratom Variation & Quality

Several variables are considered in choosing which kind of kratom to use. Even though there are many different strains and mixes of kratom available on the Internet, however, there are really just 2 basic kinds of kratom that exist. They are red vein and white vein. There is also a green vein, but generally it is also a white vein and shares the same dominant properties as the white vein. Red vein kratom usually is higher in content of 7hydroxymitragynine, which is the alkaloid believed to be most responsible for kratoms sedative, pain killing effects and is more often used as a substitute for opiates. White vein kratom tends to have a higher content of the alkaloid mitragynine which is believed to be responsible for the more stimulating effects experienced from kratom use.

The maturity of the tree, the time of day and year the leaves were harvested, as well as weather conditions and drying techniques are some of the other factors that influence the amount and quality of the many alkaloids contained in kratom. So when someone states that Thai kratom is superior to Malaysian or Indo or Bali it is usually just an opinion, because the trees where a certain batch of kratom was harvested may have seen more sunshine than the Thai trees or they may be far more mature trees situated in a more ideal growing environment. The point is you cant automatically deem one kratom better than another just because of the island or country where it was harvested. This brings up another misconstrued myth of kratom varieties. There is no such thing as Bali kratom. Most kratom labeled Bali is actually from Borneo and is of the red vein variety. Originally when kratom was first introduced to the U.S., the majority of the suppliers trading companies were based out of Bali, so the red vein kratom coming from those companies just began to be called Bali kratom. There currently arent any kratom trees on Bali. Besides variations in the regions where kratom comes from you will find a wide variety of extracts. Extracts or concentrates are simply that, a concentrated form of kratom meant to give stronger, longer lasting effects by using a smaller amount. You may be able to find vendors selling something listed as high as a 160X extract, but the truth is there really isnt a true kratom extract that can be above 20X. Many of the alkaloids are lost in the extraction process necessary to achieve a level higher than 20X. So what you end up with is an extract that may have a high content of one specific alkaloid but is void of several others. Even though it is believed that the primary alkaloids responsible for different kratom effects have been identified, scientists still arent certain of their strength or effects without the combination of other alkaloids found in kratom. There are currently 25 different alkaloids that have been identified in the kratom leaf. The other issue with extracts is that just like with any other herb there is a maximum absorption level, meaning there is only so much that the body will accept before the rest is wasted through elimination. These variables were taken into consideration when we began searching for our supply of kratom. We at Cosmic Kratom believe that we supply a consistent, higher quality of kratom. Each harvest of kratom we use is tested before it is packaged to make certain that it is of the consistent quality we demand of our products. There is nothing more frustrating than coming to rely on the consistent quality of a product from a supplier youve come to depend on only to have it go downhill. We appreciate all of our customers and strive to provide adequate and dependable products you can count on.

Kratom Cautions
Even though there are many beneficial effects of kratom there are some sideeffects that have been reported. The use of kratom more than once a week is not recommended. Long-term, daily use of high doses of kratom has been reported in some cases to induce sleeplessness, loss of libido, loss of appetite, aggression, darkening of the skin, and constipation. Long term daily use of kratom has been shown to be mildly addictive. Kratom overdoses have been reported in some cases to cause hallucinations, delusions, listlessness, tremors, aggression, and nausea. There are no reported fatalities directly connected to the long-term use of kratom or overdosing kratom. Woman who are pregnant, intend to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding should not use kratom. Do not operate heavy machinery, drive a vehicle, or attempt any other hazardous activity after using kratom. Those taking MAO inhibitors should not use Kratom. Do not use kratom if you are under 18 or give kratom to anyone under 18.
