ONTARIO JUDICIAL APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED OTTAWA, June 22, 2012 The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointments: The Honourable Michael H. Tulloch, a judge of the Superior Court of Justice in Brampton, is appointed a judge of the Ontario Court of Appeal, to replace Mr. Justice H.S. LaForme, who elected to become a supernumerary judge as of June 30, 2012. Mr. Justice Tulloch received a Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1989 and was admitted to the Bar of Ontario in 1991. Mr. Justice Tulloch was appointed a judge of the Superior Court of Justice in 2003. Prior to his appointment, he was in private practice and was also a special prosecuting agent with the Department of Justice of Canada. His main area of practice was criminal law. Mr. Justice Tulloch was Chair of a review panel of Osgoode Hall Law Schools admissions policy in 2006. He is a member of the Ontario Superior Courts Education Committee and of the National Judicial Institute. He is an academic fellow of both McLaughlin and Vanier College of York University. He is a founding member and patron of the Second Chance Scholarship Foundation and Chair of the Advisory Board to the Black Business and Professional Association. He was a frequent speaker in various post-secondary institutions as well as professional and community forums. This appointment is effective June 30, 2012. The Honourable Edward M. Morgan, a professor at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law, is appointed a judge of the Superior Court of Justice in Toronto, to replace Mr. Justice A.M. Gans, who elected to become a supernumerary judge as of April 1, 2012. Mr. Justice Morgan received a Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern University in 1976, a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Toronto in 1984 and a Master of Laws from Harvard University in 1986. He was admitted to the Bar of Ontario in 1988. Mr. Justice Morgan has been a full professor with the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto since 2008, an associate professor from 1998 to 2008, and an assistant professor from 1986 to 1989. He practised with Davies Ward & Beck from 1989 to 1997 and thereafter maintained a litigation practice. His main areas of practice were commercial litigation, constitutional litigation, private international law and human rights law. .../2

-2Mr. Justice Morgan was a law clerk to Madam Justice Bertha Wilson of the Supreme Court of Canada from 1984 to 1985. He has published numerous articles and legal publications. He was the Ontario Chair from 2001 to 2006 and National President from 2004 to 2007 of the Canadian Jewish Congress and an advisory board member of the Canadian Human Rights Museum from 2004 to 2005.
