MASTER TRAINER PEACE CORPS TRAINING CENTER PERU

This is a full time temporary position, possibly renewable Employment dates: on/about August 4 through Dec. 5, 2003 CHP International, Inc. is seeking candidates for the Master Trainer (MT) position in the Peru training center it operates for the U.S Peace Corps, which returned to Peru last year after a 26-year absence. The center recently trained the first new group of 30 Peace Corps Volunteers, who began their service in February of this year. The next training group will also consist of some 30 Trainees, half of whom will serve as Community Health Extensionists and half as Small Business/Agribusiness Developers. The curriculum integrates language acquisition (Spanish and Quechua), Cross-Cultural Adaptation, and technical preparation in job-specific skills. For at least the next year, Peace Corp/Peru anticipates two training groups per year with several months separating the training cycles, making employment at the training center discontinuous. There is a possibility CHP will conduct one or both training cycles in 2004, but at this time there is no guarantee. RESPONSIBILITIES The major areas of responsibility for the MT involve: overseeing the development, delivery and quality control of the curriculum; supervising technical trainers and the language training coordinator; coordinating the delivery of the common areas curriculum (cross-cultural training, country-specific information, role of the Volunteer in development, work placement orientation, Volunteer personal support and diversity training, volunteer health and safety, disaster preparation and mitigation); designing and conducting program evaluations and feedback and measurement systems for assessing Trainee progress; selecting and hiring local short-term technical and cultural consultants; coordinating field trips and field-based training activities; selecting off-site training locations; collaborating with PC officials to develop competency-based training objectives; preparing progress reports and other types of documents; assisting the Training Director with the overall management of the training center. REQUIREMENTS Minimum of three years of progressively responsible positions in training and development activities in Latin America. At least two years in senior training positions and training management. At least two years experience designing and conducting Training of Trainers events. At least one year experience as a Peace Corps trainer. Demonstrated competency in applying Adult Education and Experiential Learning principles and methods to competency-based training programs. Peace Corps Volunteer or comparable service. Advanced degree in Adult Education, International Training or relevant social science (substantial experience may substitute for the advanced degree). Fluency in English and Spanish. Quechua helpful but not required. Send cover letter, resume, three references and salary history by email to mailto:Peru-MT@chpinternational.com.
