Central to this action, is agreement to provide extremely competitive terms and conditions for the completion of this work, including: 40 hour work week (5-8s or 4-10' s) Initial 5 hours of overtime (required Monday through Saturday) at time and one half Flexible Journeymen to Apprentice ratios Use of Stabilization funding where available/felt necessary Other - as felt necessary/approved by the Local Business Manager Since this agreement Key Trades normally aware of the action measures are taken competitive/secured" was reached, the UA have held a series of discussions with Other involved on these projects - towards ensuring these other forces are being taken by the Mechanical Trades; and that similar aggressive by these other trades - to ensure these projects are "union forces .
Union General Contractors that have traditionally performed work in the Sewage and Water Treatment Market have also been contacted and made aware of this broad union initiative; and strongly encouraged to actively pursue this work due to the competitive package/conditions/actions being implemented by the Trades/Trade Contractors to successfully secure/rebuild presence in this market. Estimates indicate that some Two to Three Billion Dollars worth of work is coming out to tender in this sector over the next few years, beginning in early 2003!!

1.) The Zone MTBC Rep or Manager is then to call the Local UA Business Manager and verbally request that competitive terms and conditions apply on the noted project(s); and following receipt of verbal approval by the Business Manager, the Zone MTBC Rep or Manager is to immediately fax confirmation back to the Business Manager (of the agreed conditions to apply for the specific project(s)). 3.) The Zone MTBC Rep or Manager is then to immediately advise all Mechanical Firms (known to be pursuing this work) of the agreed conditions available to them. 4.) Once granted by the Business Manager, the conditions are available to all contractors working under the MCAOIUA lCl agreement - that decide to pursue the noted project(s). The onus is on individual contractors to contact a Local Zone to verify whether or not such special conditions have been approved on a particular Sewage and Water Treatment project in their area. 5.) Inquiry (by the Zone or Individual Contractor) as to whether or not Other Trades have implemented (or are planning to implement) special competitive conditions on the project(s) should be directed to the UA's Provincial Office (attention: Neil McCormick, Business Manager: 905-631-8989).
