Chapter 1 Overview
Chapter 1 Overview
BSC data configuration is conducted through operating DBF databases. Huawei M900/M1800 data management adopts the form of tables, which are visual, simple, and easy-to-use. All BSC tables are placed in BSC Data Management System. The top menus after the user enters BSC Data Management System are the classifications of tables, with each classification of tables describing a specified BSC content. But the tables of the same classification might be placed in different menus if necessary. The top menus of BSC Data Management System include: Configuration: configuration of BSC BM, AM, and clock Local office: data configuration for local office information, BIE networking, and Abis interface signaling Site: site description and physical configuration Cell: basic data of the cell, system information, cell call data. Handover: all data configurations related with handover Power: data configuration of BTS and MS power control Channel: data configuration for radio channel management and HW II channel allocation algorithm Trunk: Trunk data configuration for A-interface and Abis interface Signaling: SS7 data configuration for A-interface Alarm: configuration of BSC and BTS parameters The tables of BSC Data Management System can be divided into network optimization data tables and engineering data tables. Board No. Range: Unit: Default: Description: 0~65535 Boards of a BM are numbered sequentially. Each [Board No.] corresponds to a unique slot number. Trunk board includes BIE, FTC, and SMI (Pb) (used only in single-module BSC). SMIs (Pb) are numbered independently and sequentially. All BIEs and FTCs are numbered sequentially, starting from BIE and then FTC. All active/standby BIEs are numbered from 0, and the number of other trunk boards = the maximum number of HWs occupied by numbered trunk boards/the maximum number of HWs occupied by this board. The maximum number of occupied HWs for trunk boards is 8 for BIE, 4 for SMI (Pb), and 1 for FTC. In the case sub-multiplexing equipment is adopted, all SMIs of a BM TCSM and MSMs are numbered sequentially.
Node type Range: Unit: Default: Description: GNOD, None Describes the communication between the board and GMPU. [Node type], [Node No.], and [Slave node No.] describe the communication between a board and GMPU, enabling GMPU to control this board. As the board numbers in the main control frame are fixed, the master node number is also fixed. The communications between GMPU and GMEM, GMPU and LPN7, GMPU and GLAP are realized through memory exchanging. This memory exchanging is also regarded as a virtual master node, occupying number 44~53. The master nodes used by other trunk devices (BIE frame and SMI frame) depend on the actual physical cable connecting to the master node. For example, if a master node is connected to a board in the trunk frame, the master node occupied by this board is this master node.
2-5
Chapter 2 Configuration
Node No. Range: Unit: Default: Description: 0~255 Depends on the actual physical connecting cable.
Slave node No. Range: Unit: Default: Description: 0~255 In the case several boards share the same [Node No.], the [Slave node No.] is used to distinguish them from each other.
HW group No. Range: Unit: Default: Description: 0~65535 Describes the network resource (HW) that can be occupied by the device during the communication. One [HW group No.] consists of at most 8 HWs. [HW group No.] is used to index [HW Description Table]. At most 8 HWs can be occupied by a BIE, 4 by SMI (Pb), and 1 by a FTC, LPN7 and GLAP. Except trunk boards and signaling boards need to occupy HW resource, other boards do not need HW resource and they can be set to 255. MSM does not occupy any HW resource, either does FTC of BSC.
Visible Range: Unit: Default: Description: Yes/No Yes Indicates whether a board is visible in BSC Maintenance System and whether the alarm related with this board is generated. For the board configured but not inserted, their [Visible] is No.
2-6
Chapter 2 Configuration
Note: In the case of multi-module BSC, a BM can be configured with at most 8 TCSMs, with each TCSM containing 1 SM (MSM) and 4 TCUs (FTC). In the case of single-module BSC, there is two situations: TCU (FTC) is used to transmit trunk and signaling. In nature, this configuration is to remove the SM (MSM) of TCSM. SM multiplexing is adopted to save A-interface circuit resource. In this mode, both TCSM and SMI (Pb) must be configured for the purpose of multiplexing and de-multiplexing. Each SMI (Pb) corresponds to a TCSM.
Master node No. Range: Unit: Default: Description: 0~255 Depends on the actual physical connecting cable. This parameter is corresponding to Slot Description Table.
2-7

Module 1~5 where alarm is sent Range: Unit: Default: Description: 1~8, 255 If the alarm information of a module needs to be sent to other modules and will help to give sound and light alarm, the IDs of other modules should be configured for this parameter. Otherwise it should be configured as 255
Link configuration Range: Unit: Default: Description: 0...0~1...1 There are total 32 bits (binary) for link configuration, with each digit indicating the link configuration of a module. Try to make the two links of a module carry the load as balanced as possible. Note: These two links work in active/standby mode. When one is faulty, the information transmitted by it will be transmitted by another link. In the case of the office consisting of only single module, [Link configuration] has no actual function.
2-11
Chapter 2 Configuration
Clock selection Range: Unit: Default: Description: Clock frame clock (B one module), Hardware selection (B module/C2K) Describes the clock type of each module. The small-capacity BSC is configured with Clock frame clock (B one module); the large-capacity BSC is configured with Hardware selection (B module/C2K).
