Disappointments I experience as a Bangladeshi Bangladesh is a third world developing country, as a Bangladeshi I face a lot of problems.

Among them some major problems disappoint me most and which I experience several times in my life. First of all, the political situation of our country is getting more corrupted day by day. Most of the political leaders are uneducated and illiterate. They dont have morality, honesty, truthfulness. I think they have no quality to govern our country. Political leaders are always busy to fulfill their own need and in most of the cases they work for their benefit. My classes got suspended due to several kinds of political strikes and meeting. On those days I have to stay at home because many people including students get arrested by police. Most of the cases political parties use the students from public universities as their party worker. The government tries to protect these strikes by using the police force, thats why all students have the fear of get arrested during these days. If students have any important class or group work on that strikes days they could not move from home. This condition is very harmful for our educational and physical condition and I always feel so nervous and tensed. My many friends are studying in public university. Their situation is much more difficult than me. They have to support a political party to stay harmless; especially to the party on power right now. If they do not do that their harassment knows no bound. Classes, exams are postponed for political reason. Session jam occurs for this political reason. I got more surprised when I hear that the faculty of the public universitys also get involve into these bad political activities and got divided into many political groups. When a private university students like me will be graduated, my public university friends could have manage to finish their 2nd year only. For these reasons, students of our generation are not interested to come up and lead our country, Bangladesh. The next thing I am concerned is our educational system which is not directed in a right way. As a university student I think the importance of technical or vocational

education in Bangladesh has been neglected. Our present education system is more focused on theoretical background. We pass our time in front of computer, internet and lots of lots of books etc. Academic study influence us to do maximum work on computer, such as, course report, assignments, presentation. Yes, it is true that this will help student to improve their computer skill. But to cop-up with the present world we have to have same amount of skill in practical work along with our theory. We should go out for field trip do more practical on hand job so that we will learn from our nature and environment and later on apply that knowledge on our future life. Lastly, I am very much disappointed with our present environmental pollution. Once upon a time I use to live in Hazaribagh, which is located at old town and this area is basically known as leather processing area. When people entered into the area always greeted with a very bad smell from the tanneries. Buriganga river was just beside of my home. I noticed that every day oil tankers, launch and steamers are dumping their burnt fuel into the river. Several man made waste, tannerys chemical waste and very harmful waste of hospital are also being dumped into the water. On that dirty water people are busy to do their shower and household work. I saw how much polluted the river can be made so that it crystal clear water turns into black water. The old town is structurally much unplanned. Here roads, buildings, shops all are congested. There is no way to survive on that kind of unhealthy environment. Now a days lots of industries are being made into the residential area which is totally unauthorized. Because this creates a lots of noise, air and water pollution which is very harmful to the resident of that area. Although we face lot of problems in our day to day life, but we still love our country very much. We like to see change and development so that our country can rise above all of its problems and misfortune. But to change the country the change should start from ourselves, we have to come forward and deal with the problems and its solution, change our mindset, so that Bangladesh can be rich and prosperous and we can say Proud to be a BANGLADESHI
