The purpose of this assignment is to: Be able to operate audio and MIDI software tools; and Be able to realize Musical ideas using a Music creation

system.

Scenario You have now configured the set-up for your MIDI Music creation system, so now you will create a Musical idea upon that system.

Grading Criteria P3 The students will demonstrate the operation of audio/MIDI software tools with limited tutor support. M3 The students will demonstrate the operation of audio/MIDI software tools with total independence. D3 The students will demonstrate the operation of audio/MIDI software tools with confidence, competence and independence. P4 The students will produce Musical pieces, using available techniques in audio/MIDI computer software effectively. M4 The students will produce Musical pieces, using advanced techniques in audio/MIDI computer software effectively. D4 The students will produce Musical pieces, using creative techniques in audio/MIDI computer software effectively. Task 1 P3 The students will compose/create a simple melody with accompaniment, or a multi-track composition, using the Music creation system (Mixcraft, Garage Band or Sibelius) with assistance from the instructor. In doing so, they must also keep a log of how they dealt with: a) aligning the instruments or audio files; b) Tuning, timing and tempo; c) Normalization; d) Effects and other audio processing; e) Selecting MIDI tracks and/or voices; f) Detailed editing of MIDI events; g) Using controller messages; h) Organizing the production environment; i) Organizing the files; j) Providing the documentation of the log in an organized manner.
