Lesson Plan Subject: Lengua Extranjera: Ingls Teacher: Time: 40 min.

Level: Beginner Topic: At the restaurant Goals and Objectives: General goal: The students will learn how to order food in English in a polite and natural way on different occasions Specific objectives: Recognize and practise the structure would like. The students will master the common English vocabularies of food and drinks. The students will grasp useful English expressions of food ordering and enjoying eating in a restaurant.

Contents: Conceptual: Grammar structure: would like Vocabulary: Foods and drinks Function: Restaurant communication. Asking and making request. Reading and comprehension. Pronunciation: /ad/ for Id like and /d/ for would you like? Procedural: Talking about food and common polite constructions. Listening and comprehension to cover vocabulary and commonly used words and expressions for going to the restaurant. Describing foods and drinks Attitudinal: Respect for and cooperation with classmates and teacher. Willingness to carry out the proposed activities.

Materials:

Interest and curiosity in learning. Active participation in the realization of the different activities.

Handouts: Common English vocabularies of food and drinks Useful expression of food ordering Sample dialogue of food ordering. Audio Cd with a how to order in a restaurant dialogue

Lessons Procedure Warm up: Questions (5 min) Teacher writes the questions on the board: -Do you like cooking? Why or why not? -What is your favourite food? -How often do you eat in a restaurant? -Where do you usually go? -Who do you usually go with? Presentation (10 min) Reading the menu: Listening Teacher hands out to students the menu. Teacher asks students to name the different types of food they recognize in the menu, and explain those words briefly. Teacher asks students to read the dialogue. Teacher plays the audio of the dialogue and asks students to listen carefully to it and pay close attention to the pronunciation. Teacher points out the use of would like for asking and making requests. -Would you like + noun is used to offer things. The answers are usually Yes, please or No, thanks. For example: --- Would you like a chocolate? ---Yes, please. Would you like + infinitive means to invite somebody

For example: --- Would you like to have dinner with us on Sunday? ---Yes, Id love to. -What would you like to order today? Id like Practice: Role -play activity (15 min) Teacher pairs up students and asks them to use the menu for role playing through ordering a meal. Teacher asks the students that are not roleplaying to try to write down the orders and see if they can figure out the total after the role-play is done. Teacher verifies and corrects mistakes with students.

Production (10 min) Teacher will ask students to write a dialogue between he/she and a waiter, using the dialogue and the menu to practise ordering food in a restaurant.
