A diamond is a toughest carbon rock cut and polished for brilliance. There is a diamond within everyone. The theme of this prayer service is Brilliance quality in a Diamond. Brilliance emanates shining brightness / radiance in ones life though exceptional virtue of wisdom or patience or forgiveness etc. Brilliance is also the ability or skill or talent each one is gifted with by birth to outshine to make a difference. Men are like the stars; some generate their own light while others reflect the brilliance they receive. Every person is born in the image and likeness of God (Gen.2) and is a unique expression of God in this world (T. Aquinas). You are precious in my eyes and honoured and I love you; I have called you by name, you are mine (Is.43). Ritual: DNA Model or Sketch (Display the DNA model or sketch) Reader 1: DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) is a double helix in all living things that marks the blue print of life. Theres a copy of our entire DNA sequence called a genome in every cell of our body except in red blood cells. Theres an estimated 3 billion DNA bases in our genome that takes 3GB of storage space. Genes are pieces of DNA passed on from parent to offspring that hold hereditary information. Genetic code is a divine writing.A DNA fingerprint is a set of DNA markers that is unique for each person that can reveal (species autobiography) - individuality, family history,

ethnicity, risk of disease and evidence in forensics. Invisible dna mystifies in attesting natures truth revealing hidden secrets / brilliance in everyone as an expression of God. DNA is like a computer program but far, far more advanced than any software ever created. (Bill Gates). From the creation, each human embryo has its own unique genetic identity DNA. Individualism is sacred! Every human being is absolutely unique, valuable, and exceptional being Gods precious image. Everyone has a distinctive role in ones own unique milieu. As we grow as unique persons, we learn to respect the uniqueness of others -Robert H. Sculler Reader 2: (Scripture) Let us listen to the scripture from the gospel of Mathew 5: 13 (..pause) YOU ARE THE SALT OF THE EARTH... (pause) Salt is distinctive in taste used to season and preserve. A little salt makes a difference to an insipid meal. Jesus says you are the salt of the earth to season mediocrity and preserve sparkle of life wherever you are. In every age ordinary persons have become inspirational role models in outshining brilliance to make a difference in the lives of others as we glimpse a few cases. Reader 3: 1. Dr. Verghese Kurien the Milk man of India engineered Operation Flood at Amul Anand in 1970 to maximize milk production and profits through organized dairy co-operatives to eliminate the tyranny of middle men. The dairy programme generated jobs and income for millions of rural poor linking urban consumers to rural farmers while bringing in gender equity with exclusive women dairy cooperatives (SEWA) in rural areas. Kurien ushered White Revolution creating a billion dollar brand and placed India on the Dairy map of the world. Reader 4: 2. Founder and mentor Anand Kumar of Super 30 is an inspiration to multiply super 30 in districts of bihar and other states. Super 30 innovative program selects 30 bright youngsters from marginalized society, shapes them to reach the prestigious IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) and be top technocrats. He is a mastermind of intellectual revolution, sparking a ray of hope to gifted kids in poor remote areas. Discovery channel documented a film and countries like Japan have adopted this model to tap talent. Reader 5: Dr. Bindheshwar Pathak founder Sulabh (1970) is the icon of a new culture. Sulabh Shauchalaya triggered social revolution in scavenger liberation through maintenance free toilets. Though born Brahmin, Pathak is a crusader of human rights and dignity of scavengers. He developed safe and hygienic human waste disposal system benefitting 700 million Indian populations who otherwise defecated in the open for lack of toilets. He sensitized Indians towards sanitation thro pay-and-use public toilets dotted across the country. His low-cost toilet technology and selfsustaining sanitation system is recommended by UN bodies for about three billion people across the globe especially Africa. He won Padma Bhushan and UN award for the environment. Reader 6: A child prodigy 'boy wonder' Satyam Kumar from a poor family in Bhojpur district Bihar, with no formal education till class eight, cracked IIT-JEE 2012 at a tender age of 12, is a dynamic inspiration for IIT aspirants who find it tough to clear the IIT-JEE even at 19/20 years of age. History was made when Sushil Kumar, a common man of Bihar with a tutors job and no means to own a TV, became the first ever contestant to win five crore rupees on KBC5 2011.

Leader: We should always keep the belief fresh in our hearts that we are destined to achieve great things. My life and example can inspire someone else to discover their brilliance and pass on the domino effect. Many times we doubt ourselves because of past failures or setbacks; instead of trying again, we give up to accept mediocrity. Each day is unique offering us opportunities and choices. Reflective Time: How can I shine radiance today in my life to make a difference? (Pause at each Qn.) Who made my yesterday/today bright with a kind gesture of a friendly smile/ kind word/act? In whose life did I bring sunshine yesterday / today through a kind gesture? Are there daily opportunities for me to radiate brilliance of virtue which I miss out? (5 minutes be given to encourage few students to share instances of good models) How can I model good character and pass on synergy daily for this month? Make a resolve. Write down specifically how I will model brilliance of virtue to synergize peers and family. ..for it is not enough to be good; others must become good because of me. Living a mediocre life is not a purposeful or meaningful living. (Students may share their resolve/pledge with their shoulder partners / or in small groups). Prayer: O Lord God I trust you to guide me through every new day. Let the experience of days gone guide me in my choices. I thank you for the simple joys of the day - the colours of the sky, beauty of trees and flowers, songs of birds, bees and beasts, patterns of fields and fences, skills and talents of men and women passed on for our benefit. Let me radiate brilliance in virtue / ability / talent / skill that you gifted me with to brighten those around me today. Grant that the world peace I pray for be there in my own little world of concerns. Choir: Prayer Song 2: My Life is in you Lord - http://youtu.be/F0M0NALW7EM
