THE WORLD IS JUST A BOOK AWAY Founding Executive Director Los Angeles, CA 2011 Present

Led international literacy non-profit organization, whose library programs serve 27,000+ children in two developing countries, Indonesia and Mexico, supported by Nobel Peace Laureates Dr. Muhammad Yunus and Desmond Tutu. Created and implemented innovative sustainability model based on librarian management training, data tracking and analysis systems, and student-centered curricular programs. Recipient of the 2012 American Libraries Association Presidential Citation for Innovative International Library Projects. Acquired partnerships with national and international organizations, including Google, LA Times Festival of Books, US Mexico Chamber of Commerce CA, InterContinental Bali Resort, Alumni USC Indonesia, Judiths Reading Room, and Bluecanvas, to benefit children with increased access to books and education. Organized and maintained annual and targeted international fundraising campaigns raising $1M. Managed local and international budgets of $250,000 in total. Led country operations, built internal structure, launched 55 library projects, and expanded programs to two new regions and number of children reached fivefold from 5,000 to 27,000+ children. Expanded educational programs to serve Java, Sumatra, and Bali regions with additional reach to 22,000+ children with 40,000+ books and 55 library projects. Established internal structure of organization, including opening of offices in two regions and staffing, training, and management of ten staff members. Developed, initiated, and taught film photography program to primary school children, which resulted in publication of the childrens photographs in an international magazine for artists, Bluecanvas, and the exhibition of their photographs at the prestigious Los Angeles Downtown Art Walk. Mentored and taught 100+ children, who were formerly garbage pickers in Phnom Penh, with international nonprofit organization focused on providing shelter, food, and education. Facilitated conversational English and digital photography courses to 100+ children ages 7-22 years old, one of which participated in the 2011 Women in the World Summit.
