Secure Power
avoiding unwanted interruptions to operation
The increasing complexity of electrical installations places extremely high demands on the reliability of power supply systems. Even a short power failure may be expensive due to production stoppage and malfunction.
Keeping everything under control - with PRC470 Provides a central control and display of the entire installation. All monitoring parameters and important operating states are displayed in a text window, providing a complete overview of the entire installation. The com-
One decisive factor for the availability and operating safety of electrical installations is the insulation resistance. Early detection, fast localisation and elimination of insulation faults is the most effective protection against interruption to operation and malfunction.
munication between evaluators and the central control/indicating device is via a time and cost saving twowire interface, which may be easily extended.
In distributed grounded & ungrounded systems, insulation fault location is costly in terms of money and time. BENDER on-line insulation fault and residual current location systems provide an innovative and automatic solution to these problems. These comprehensive solutions offer the user the benefits of increased system security and safety, plus they provide significant reduction in time and cost.

EDS470/EDS473
Ground fault location in ungrounded systems
When an insulation fault occurs in an ungrounded system, it will be detected and indicated by the insulation monitoring device. The ground fault location can be activated by the alarm contact of the insulation monitor or manually. The test device PGH generates a test signal for a defined period of time. Its amplitude and duration are limited. This test signal flows via the location of the insulation fault and through all measuring current transformers within the insulation fault path. The EDS system scans all measuring current transformers. The test signal is detected by the current transformers and evaluated by the electronics of the EDS470-12/ EDS473-12. The EDS with its LEDs and the PRC central controller, both provide fault location path information.
Functional diagram EDS system
RCMS470
Ground fault current location in grounded systems
TN mit RCD
The RCMS system operates on the principle of residual current measurement. All conductors of the circuit to be monitored (except the GND) are led through a current transformer. In a fault-free system the resulting sum of all currents is equal to zero so that no voltage is induced in the secondary winding of the measuring current transformer. In the event of a fault current, the imbalance of the current is sensed by the measuring current transformer and evaluated by the electronic circuitry.
Iges I1

RF
A maximum of 12 measuring current transformers can be connected to one RCMS470-12 evaluator, i.e. 12 circuits can be monitored by one RCMS470-12. The RCMS470-12 scans all measuring current transformers and indicates the faulty circuit via LED. All RCMS units in a system work in parallel to minimise system evaluation.
Functional diagram RCMS system
The combination of an RCMS and PRC provides a central control and display of the measuring results and a pre/main alarm warning set up (10 mA-10 A), for each circuit. The use of current transformers allows the RCMS system to be independent of both the load current and the nominal voltage of the installation.
EDS47012 Insulation fault evaluator which, together with the measuring current transformers, detects the PGH test signal and provides fault location indication. Up to 12 measuring current transformers inputs. Alarm LED for each measuring current transformer. Voltage-free common alarm contact. RS485 interface. Response value 5 mA.
PRC470 For central indication and control of all EDS470-12 evaluators via RS485 interface.
Text display clear indication of all essential parameters, alarm messages and simplifies set-to-work. Fast detection of faulty circuits. Centralised testing function. Easy to operate via functional keys. RS485 interface for up to 30 EDS470-12. Up to 360 branches can be monitored.
