When my son was born (28 years ago), a deacon jokingly told me, The first two years youll teach him to standup and talk. The next 16 years youll wish hed sit still and be quiet. Im glad to be in a church that loves children. We put more resources into that one area than any others. Vacation Bible School is only a week away and I promise there wont be a lot of sitting still or being quiet! And Im glad. It is one of my favorite weeks. I hope your child or grandchild can be here. The youth of Eastmont (grades 7-12) are far more advanced than I was at their age. They are more educated, more talented, and more socially aware. Their spiritual maturity is astounding. They didnt get that way by accident. Parents guided them and people taught them. About 60 will be on an inner city mission trip in two weeks. Im honored to know and serve with them. We all need privacy from time to time, but it can be dangerous for a church. In 1947 an expedition was looking for the place Moses received the Ten Commandments. Instead, they found a monastery in a mountain cranny far from any normal route. It was built in 340 A.D. and the monks there had not been outside the walls in 50 years. Father Tachomius had never heard of World War I or World War II. Many churches die from a monastic mentality. I dont ever want to belong to one. Keep reaching out. Keep meeting people. Keep ministering for our Lord. Ill See You Sunday,

If you, or your college age child, did not receive a package from us please send us their address (eastmontcollege@gmail.com). Tuesday Koinonia Groups Tuesday nights at 6:30. This study will be a study adapted from Matt Chandlers book "Explicit Gospel". This will be a study with the purpose to help you be able to tell others the complete gospel story. If you have a friend who is not a Christian, but you are not comfortable with sharing who Christ is then this study is for you. We will be training you on how to lead a Bible study for nonbelievers.
