2. Network Description
We have to build up a network for our company, which is divided in 4 different departments. For the safety of the system we put a firewall which links the outside internet to the intern LAN, its rule is to filter the signal. Our network is based on a router which receive the signal from outside and divide it between several computers through a main switch and 4 secondary switches; we decide to use 2 switch levels since the main switch is the most powerful and has to be able to take all the signal from the router; the secondary switches are less powerful than the main switch but are useful for the balance of the data transfer; their rule is to disseminate the signal through the computers and printers set in the different departments. The rule of the main switch, above from carrying the signal to the secondary switches, is to link our 3 servers to the to the rest of the system; we use the main switch for the connection since it is very available and very safety, essential parameters for 24hours working servers. All the system will work with LAN cables except for the IPmodem which will need coaxial cables to connect to the antenna.

4. Satellite Internet Access

4.1 Technology
Satellite Internet Acces is a technology that brings internet access through satellites. The service is provided by LEO satellites. LEO stands for low Earth orbit. Depending on the type of satellites we will have different features and limitations Mainly as lower is the satellite lower is the speed but also lower is the latency so depending on the type of connection needed one or another will be more suitable. In our case we will be using the ASTRA satellite with a bidirectional model which will be able not only to receive data but also to send the information throw the return channel. This types of modems are called astro-modems.

4.2 SES BROADBAND

Our internet will be provided by an ISP connected to the SES Broadband which is the Astra Satellite Company. SES Broadband provides high-speed Internet access (at up to 10Mbit/s[2]) We can find in the text below the mainly technical aspects of the SES Broadband. SES Broadband uses a satellite link to carry IP data in both directions between the central hub and remote terminals. At the hub, routers connect to the Internet backbone and IP data is embedded in a DVB-S2 format carrier to be uplinked to the satellite from SES' teleport and, from there, downlinked to the remote terminal where the signal is received with a domestic-type dish for the satellite internet modem, which extracts the IP data for the end user's PC. The return path is handled in a similar fashion, but with a low power 500 mW transmitter on each terminal dish providing the uplink to the satellite, with multiple-frequency time division multiple access techniques employed to handle many remote terminals simultaneously. SES Broadband combines 2 standards for the return path: Satmode for modulation and coding and DVB-RCS for the access scheme. SES Broadband uses the Astra 3B communications satellite at the 23.5 east orbital position to handle uplinks and downlinks in both directions. A number of transponders are used for the hub-to-terminal downlink in the satellite TV downlink segment of the Ku band (10.70 GHz-12.75 GHz). The terminal-to-hub uplink to the satellite uses the uplink segment of the Ku band (14.00 GHz-14.50 GHz) and extended Ku band (13.75 GHz14.25 GHz) Connection to the SES Broadband service is by way of a Sat3Play satellite terminal developed by Newtec[15] in conjunction with the European Space Agency (ESA). The terminal comprises an external satellite dish fitted with a two-way interactive LNB ("iLNB") connected by coaxial cable to the indoor satellite "IPmodem" that, in turn, connects to the user's PC or LAN In the link below can be found the full characteristics of the service technology: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASTRA2Connect

4.3 Components of the installation.

The components of the installation will be divided in two units: Outdoor unit The outdoor unit will be composed by the satellite dish, a feedhorn, universal LNB for Ku-Band and the feed line. Indoor unit The indoor unit will be an external modem with an Ethernet port connected to the main switch.

4.4 The ISP

We will choose our ISP in terms of broadband speed, price and service quality. At the end of our prospection we will give detailed information in Activity 5. .
