Limitations:

1. Some information being very sensitive as far as organization is concerned is left untouched and not mentioned in any way.

2. Top-level strategic type of decisions and information too are not taken under study to avoid any favor to the business counter parts.

3. The project is not concerned about the designing and planning of training activities which forms a crucial and major part of this field hence a full fledge study can be done in this area.

4. Due to Time Constraints, I was not able to touch all aspects of training and development.

Scope of the project:

1. The scope/range of this project report is not too far stretching as it covers training and development provided by the telecom providers in Guwahati city

2. My project mainly deals with the present method of training given during my tenure of the project, January 5th-February 29th

3. This project covers training, training programmed, and training evaluation and excludes all other human resources activities conducted before and after training. vi

Research tool Questionnaires and the evaluation of the performance to check the effectiveness of

training imparted. The questions were both structured and unstructured.

Population and sample size:

I have selected a sample of 70 people (10 from each telecom company) who have

undergone the training programme in the last six months to have a flavor of the new

practices in training.

Major findings

1. Each and every employee attended (100%) Training and Development program in their respective companies. 2. Maximum of the employees (94%) attended post employment program because then the company can find out who needs what kind of training. 3. On the job training methods are used by maximum (57%) of the companies.. 4. Maximum candidates attended training and development that were in house(83%) as because conducting t &d is an expensive affair and if provided in house it reduces the cost significantly 5. Maximum employees were satisfied with the training and development environment(89%) 6. Maximum numbers of respondents were satisfied with the training and development objective fulfillment. 7. Maximum employees were permitted(91%) time to attend Training and Development with pay. 8. Maximum respondents were satisfied(89%) with the skills of the trainer. vii

9. The training and development methodology/techniques used by the trainer was acceptable to maximum(86%) of the respondents. 10. The personal equation between the trainer and the respondents was very good(100%) 11. Maximum of the employees wanted training and development programs to be conducted on Monday(34%) and Saturday(30%). 12. The number of respondents who were not trained online(54%) were more than the number of respondents who were trained online(46%) 13. Online training was of great help to the respondents who took part in it. 14. Different personality traits were tried to develop within the employees by using the training and development programs by different companies. 15. In maximum cases(84%) the higher level officers participated during the training and development process and shared their experience to make training effective. 16. Every respondents got enough opportunity(100%) to express their views during the training and development program 17. Maximum respondents (77%)were more relaxed after attending training and development programs. 18. Each and every employee thought that on the job performance increases(100%) after attending training and development programs 19. Training and development enhances the competency and knowledge level of the maximum of the respondents.(89%) 20. Training and development helps to increase the efficiency level of the respondents.(100%) 21. Training and development helps to establish better understanding with their colleagues, superiors and subordinates(100%)
