TECHNICAL & FINANCIAL PROPOSAL RAPID APPRAISAL OF GAROUPA DEVELOPMENT IN THE SULTANATE OF OMAN
1.0 BACKGROUND Malaysian Fisheries (Labuan) Ltd (MFL) was formed to be the global player of fishery industry, covering both marine and aquaculture sub-sectors of the industry. The Sultanate of Oman is interested to develop the agriculture and agri-based industries, including aquaculture and marine fish and currently embarking on related projects to compliment other high growth industries such as oil and gas. In the discussion between Malaysian Fisheries and the Ministry of Fisheries Wealth, MFL was invited to explore on the idea of developing garoupa production and trade in an integrated manner. In this respect, MFL intend to engage Marditech Corporation to consultant form a team of consultants to embark on the development of garoupa integrated production in the Sultanate of Oman. 2.0 OBJECTIVES To develop garoupa industry in Oman in an integrated manner and sustainable ,which include, inter alia, fry production, feed production, farm development, post harvest handling, logistics and trading. TERMS OF REFERANCE To assess the potential of Oman to become leading player in the Garoupa production To develop masterplan on the production of garoupa in Oman in the integrated manner To propose action plan to transform Oman as a producer of garoupa To propose preliminary budget in developing Oman as a leading player in garoupa production METHODOLOGY Site Visit : site visits will be carried out to evaluate current infrastructural support available and assessment of proposed site Literature review and Research : Pertinent documents, reports, statistics and current and future initiatives on the industry, district profile, secondary data, and other relevant reference materials and external sources will be collected for analytical purposes. 2
