O Allah give him (Imam e Zamana ajf) and his family, sons, and offspring and his nation and all the subjects what makes him pleased and joyful Dua Saheb AlZamaan p.616 or p.778 Mafateeh AlJinaan

Dedicated to Mahdi_bia And to all Ansar Allah, everywhere

Do we need permission from family before we believe something in Islam? FATHER: SON: How can you believe in this man before I give you permission? Father, I informed you of his claim. We started investigating at the same time. It is not my fault that I felt the authenticity of truth before you did. Besides, nobody needs permission for accepting the truth. Of course you need my permission. Nobody can enter the house of a man without the permission of the head of that house. Similarly nobody can believe in any creed without permission from their Father. I'm sure you don't mean that. Perhaps you are so angry right now you don't remember the words of the Quran. What words? Surah Araf, verse 123 "Firon said: Do you believe in Him before I have given you permission?"

FATHER:

SON:

FATHER: SON:

ALLAH WANTS A QUICK RESPONSE

FATHER: SON:

But how do you know it is truth? It has been many days since we began investigations. I felt it was true from the start, but I only gave the pledge formally after investigating and researching, and finding that the arguments against him are only guesswork. I don't think it has been sufficient time yet. Leave it for a few years. A few years! And if I should die before then? You know we love and respect Imam Khumayni and his advice in these matters. Look at this story from Rays of the Sun: 83 Stories:
In his first speech to students after entering Najaf, Imam said: Be thinking from now, be thinking from youth, every step you take now is towards the grave. Every minute you spend from your noble life, you are getting a little closer to the grave and the place where you will be questioned. Think about this. The issue is nearing the grave and nobody has given you a deed that will allow you to live for 120 years. It is possible that one dies at 25 years, it is possible that one dies at this very moment, God forbid. You dont have a deed in your hands; you must pay attention and refine your ethics.

FATHER: SON:

FATHER:

Allah will not ask about this matter.

SON:

Are you familiar with Surah Tawbah, verse 42? Let me open the Quran. Here it is: [9.42] Had it been a near advantage and a short journey, they would certainly have followed you, but the tedious journey was too long for them; and they swear by Allah: If we had been able, we would certainly have gone forth with you; they cause their own souls to perish, and Allah knows that they are most surely lying.

FATHER: SON:

What does that mean? It means that generally when things get difficult and the journey to what is right seems long, then people make excuses. I wish to be saved by not making excuses. I can show you Hadeeth from the Prophet (s.a.w.w) on the topic of Yamani, and that makes it the order of Allah. There is no room for doubt in this matter. I am more experienced that you. You are too young to understand these matters. Focus on your studies. I can't be younger than the youths described as the Companions of the Cave. Or the brave Salman e Farsi, who was a young boy when he and his father had a problem similar to the one you and I have. He believed one thing and his father believed a different one. So he stopped him from playing with his friends, beat him and locked him in the basement. But you are changing the topic. It is my right to change the topic.

FATHER:

SON:

FATHER:

SON:

I won't argue with you on that, but I will say only a person who is unaware of the importance of Ahlul Bayt would disregard their direct orders.

IT IS THE DIRECT ORDERS OF AHLUL BAYT TO FOLLOW THE YAMANI FATHER: SON: It is not their direct orders to follow any Yamani. It is not only their direct order, but they prayed for his success and the Prophet (s.a.w.w) even mentions an Ahmad in his Will. What Will? What fabrication is this? On the contrary, the Will of the Prophet (s.a.w.w) is an authentic narration. Shaikh al-Toosi who recorded it in his book Kitab al-Ghaiba says it is authentic, and Muhammad Muhammad Sadiq as-Sadr who was martyred for speaking truth also

FATHER: SON:

vouched for it's authenticity. May our lives be sacrificed for brave men like him! FATHER: SON: Ameen. Let us agree to disagree. Temporarily, yes. But as my Father you owe me guidance. If you truly disbelieve this man then collect some evidence and convince me.

EVIDENCE AND KNOWLEDGE IS SUPERIOR TO OPINIONS AND GUESSWORK

FATHER: SON: FATHER: SON: FATHER: SON:

What will convince you against him? What has convinced you against him? I feel it is a Saudi Arabian conspiracy. He has spoken out against the Saudi government specifically. It is my impression that something is wrong about him. It is good to have impressions. But can an impression be equal to knowledge?

FATHER: SON:

Why not? Im an experienced man. The Quran says:

[10.36] And most of them do not follow (anything) but guesses; surely guesses will not avail aught against the truth; surely Allah is cognizant of what they do.

FATHER: SON:

I am sure that the knowledge says the same thing I am saying. Just remember, it is my right as a son to be guided by you. So collect your evidence and sit with me next week inshaAllah.

IDENTIFYING THE ROLE OF YAMANI FROM HADEETH AND MATCHING IT TO AHMAD AL-HASSAN

FATHER: SON:

First I want to see all your evidence so that I know what I am talking against. First of all, we should decide what the Yamani does, what are his duties and what are his characteristics. Then we can talk about Ahmad al Hassan. Yes. If we make a checklist of all the things the Yamani should have we can tally and see if Ahmad al-Hassan comes up to mark.

FATHER:

SON:

That seems wise. In fact, that is why there are all these Hadeeth about Yamani in both Shia and Sunni books.

WHAT IS OUR DUTY TO YAMANI?

FATHER: SON:

Where do we start? Bismillah hir Rahman ir Raheem. We'll look at Hadeeth where it says clearly that there is a Yamani. Of these Hadeeth some mention some characteristics of Yamani, like where he is from, what his name will be, what his relationship with Imam e Zamana (ajf) is, and what is he going to do once he is here.

FATHER: SON: FATHER: SON:

Fair enough. But first of all, what is our duty to him. That seems an odd thing to put first. I do this because there are many misconceptions about this. Many who don't believe in the Yamani being Ahmad alHassan have a wrong impression. So do those who don't give the concept of Yamani

value on the basis that Imam e Zamana (ajf) will guide us anyway. FATHER: SON: How do you think this? I know it from the words of our master Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s). "If the Yamani appears, stand up with him, because his banner is the banner of faith, and its prohibited for any Muslim to turn away from him, and who ever turns away from him, then he's from the people of hell, because he calls to the truth and to the right path." Al-Ghaybah - Mohammad Ibn Ibrahim A' Nomani p. 264. FATHER: SON: FATHER: Is this Hadeeth authentic? Yes. {FIND OUT} Son, don't tell me you have deviated from the Shia and are calling this Yamani a 13th Imam? Why do you think I say that? Allah is my witness I only believe in 12 Imams. You say obeying him is wajib. The Prophet (s.a.w.w) and all of Aal e Muhammad (a.s) were agreed on this that obeying the Yamani is compulsory on every Shia to the extent that if anyone were to turn away from Yamani, this is sufficient to put that person in Hell. Do you have anything to say on this? I'm thinking about it.

SON: FATHER: SON:

FATHER:

10

SON:

Second, it is not only to the Prophet and Imams that complete obedience is due, but also to their confidential servants. I have a hard time believing that. Surely every Shia must use their Aql to obey the Imam, and not rely on others. Why should I believe their servants? I also am a servant. Is obedience to me also compulsory? It is precisely through Aql I am telling you this. We are to use our Aql to judge by Quran and Ahlul Bayt. There is no escape from this. And using our Aql, let us turn to past history. Isn't it true that there were other people who it was compulsory to follow in the presence of the Imam?

FATHER:

SON:

FATHER: SON:

I'm not sure. Also, doesn't that mean there is no need of Imam? Not at all. No Imam stands alone, but he always has a Right Hand. Imam Hussain (a.s) had Hazrat Abbas (a.s). Musa (a.s) had Haroon (a.s). The presence of Mola Abbas did not make Imam Hussain (a.s) invalid. The presence of the Prophet Haroon (a.s) did not stop Allah from choosing Prophet Musa (a.s) especially. In fact, in the Quran Musa (a.s) specifically asks Allah to give him a Right Hand. Are these your examples? It makes sense, but these are not insignificant people like the Yamani is. The examples you're giving are

FATHER:

11

of Prophets and Imams, while this Yamani is neither Prophet nor Imam. So I am correct in saying in reality you believe in 13 Imams instead of 12. SON: Mola Abbas (a.s) is not an Imam or a Prophet. But never mind. There are even more examples. Lets open the Quran. Surah Baqarah: [2.246] Have you not considered the chiefs of the children of Israel after Musa, when they said to a prophet of theirs: Raise up for us a king, (that) we may fight in the way of Allah. He said: May it not be that you would not fight if fighting is ordained for you? They said: And what reason have we that we should not fight in the way of Allah, and we have indeed been compelled to abandon our homes and our children. But when fighting was ordained for them, they turned back, except a few of them, and Allah knows the unjust.
[2.247] And their prophet said to them: Surely Allah has raised Talut to be a king over you. They said: How can he hold kingship over us while we have a greater right to kingship than he, and he has not been granted an abundance of wealth? He said: Surely Allah has chosen him in preference to you, and He has increased him abundantly in knowledge and physique, and Allah grants His kingdom to whom He pleases, and Allah is Amplegiving, Knowing

Is Talut (a.s) a Prophet or Imam? FARHER: SON: No. There already was a Prophet in the form of Prophet Dawood (a.s). But Allah chose a King for them who was subordinate to and nominated by the Prophet (s.a.w.w) of that time.

12

FATHER: SON:

What were the objections of the people to Talut (a.s)? See the verse: [2.247] They said: How can he hold kingship over us while we have a greater right to kingship than he, and he has not been granted an abundance of wealth?

FATHER: SON: FATHER: SON: FATHER: SON:

He was the chosen of Allah, although he was not a Prophet nor an Imam? Yes. I was not aware of this. May Allah bless you and myself that we are learning together. Are there any more examples? Let's turn to the Hadeeth. This is not limited to leadership based on Prophethood or Imamate, but is also extended to leadership based on commanding officers of armies and governors of countries who have nominated by the Prophet or Imam of that time. The Prophet (s.a.w.w) said about those rejected the commanding officer he appointed: "Allah has cursed whoever stays behind from the army of Usama". Now tell me, does this make Usama a 13th Imam or a Prophet?

FATHER:

Not at all.

13

SON: FATHER: SON:

There's also a story from Nahj ul Balagha. I've book marked letter 38. What is it about? Read aloud for us both. It's about a Sahaba of Imam Ali (a.s) who was appointed by him as governor. Imam Ali (a.s) basically ordered the people to follow Maliks command: "A letter to the people of Egypt, telling them about Maalik when Imam Ali (a.s) appointed him as their Governor. After glorifying Allah and paying homage to the Holy Prophet (s) be it known to you that I am sending towards you a creature of Allah who forsakes rest and sleep during days of danger, who does not fear his enemy in the critical junctures, and who is more severe than burning fire to sinners and vicious people. He is Maalik bin Haarith Mazhiji (Mazhij is a sub-class of Bani Nakha'a). Hear him and obey his commands which you will find to be right and according to true canons of Islam. He is such a sword among the swords of Allah that its sharpness will never get blunt or whose stroke and blow will never be without effect and who will never lose an opportunity. If he orders you to advance against your enemies, then advance; if he commands you to halt then halt because he himself will never advance nor halt and will never give orders to advance, halt or retreat without my consent." This gives me much to think about. It seems as though the Ahlul Bayt were very severe about those who disobeyed their nominated servants.

FATHER:

SON:

And lets not forget that the Quran says that those who rejected Talut (a.s) the King were

14

unjust. As Imam Ali (a.s) has already defined justice to be... FATHER: SON: Putting things in their proper places. I know. Then being unjust means not putting things in their proper place. No doubt, when Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s) says that those who turn away from Yamani will be of the people of Hell, he is referring to similar unjust people. Interesting.

FATHER:

THE HADEETH OF IMAM BAQIR(a.s) SON: FATHER: SON: Now for the characteristics of al-Yamani. Yes. Let's look at the Hadeeth of Imam Baqir (a.s) again. "There is no banner better than that of the banner of Yamani, it is the banner of faith and dedication, because he calls to your possessor, so if the Yamani comes out, selling weapons to people or any Muslim becomes prohibited, and if the Yamani appears, stand up to him, because his banner is the banner of faith, and its prohibited for any Muslim to turn away from him, and who ever turns away from him, then he's from the people of hell, because he calls to the truth and to the right path). AlGhaybah - Mohammad Ibn Ibrahim A' Nomani p. 264.

15

If you see here first of all he has the best banner of the time he is in. FATHER: SON: Doesn't that make Imam e Zamana's (ajf) banner lesser? What reason does the Hadeeth give for the superiority of the banner of Yamani in that time? Because he calls to your possessor. Who is our possessor other than Imam e Zamana (ajf)? Yamani's banner calls to our possessor, thus making it the best banner of those serving Imam e Zamana (ajf) and making it the banner of Faith and Dedication. So if turning from Imam e Zamana (ajf) is Haram then so is turning away from the one who calls towards him (ajf). FATHER: SON: So you're saying that the function of Yamani is to call towards Imam e Zamana (ajf)? Yes, according to Imam Baqir (a.s).

FATHER: SON:

16

YAMANI WILL KILL THE SUFYANI SON: Another Hadeeth, this one from Al-Mahdi Al-Muntather Al-Maw'ood door#2/p.207 The Prophet pbuh took the hand of Al-Abbas and the hand of Ali a.s and said:"There shall be a man from the offspring of this man(Abbas)who shall fill the earth injustice and tyranny, and there shall be from this man(Ali)who shall spread the earth with justice and tranquility, so if you see this happening,on you is to go with the man who is a Yamani for he shall come from the East and he is the one with the banner of the Mahdi. FATHER: SON: Who is this man? It is written about the Yamani, and indeed the most common thing known about him is that he is to kill the Sufyani. It is commanded here to go and join forces with the Yamani as he is the one with the banner

17

of Imam e Zamana (ajf). There is no question of a true follower of the Prophet (s.a.w.w) contradicting this. Otherwise if he challenges the Prophet (s.a.w.w) on the issue of joining the army of Yamani, then there is no difference between that Shia and Umar and Abu Bakr who contradicted the Prophet (s.a.w.w) and did not join the army of Usama. FATHER: SON: What more about the Sufyani? Sufyani will be a Muslim who will kill and oppress the people. In particular he will torture the Shia. This is to the extent that if anyone is names Ali or Fatima he will hunt down and kill them. This will happen for nine months. Then will Yamani rise and destroy Sufyani. But wont this be happening after the Occultation of Imam e Zamana (ajf)? How so? When Sufyani is to be killed by Yamani, that in itself is a Sign of the Zahoor (Appearance) of Imam e Zamana (ajf). How can a Sign of the Zahoor be after the Zahoor? It must be before the Appearance. So we have established that Yamani from the descendants of Ali (a.s) will kill the Sufyani, descended from al-Abbas.

FATHER: SON:

FATHER:

18

YAMANI WILL REJECT HYPOCRISY, KUFR AND BIDDAH

SON:

Basically, the role of Yamani is that he will do anything and everything to us back to authentic Islam. All the innovations and hypocrisy we have brought and have accepted will be challenged. If the rule of Allah has been contradicted then he will speak out loudly against it. That sounds like nonsense. One should adapt to society. Even if wrong things are happening in the system, we should disregard them and hope for the best. One should not confront them? True. What about amr bil maroof? Since we are talking about Wills written by the Ahlul Bayt (a.s), lets us turn to the words of Imam Ali (a.s) and see what he advises Imam Hassan (a.s): Never, never leave Amr Bil Maruf and Nahiy Anil Munkar, otherwise you will say prayer but He will not accept.

FATHER:

SON: FATHER: SON:

FATHER:

Yes, but that's not always possible. Also, one should be soft with the people. And things change.

19

We can't always be Islamic. There's also being practical. SON: Now you've said a mouthful. I didn't realize you thought that the worldly materialistic things were the reality and Islam was the illusion. That's not what I said. Yes, actually. You said one must be practical as opposed to being Islamic. I mean that Islam is a philosophy. Read these verses I have written here. [22:6] This is so, because Allah is the Reality: it is He Who gives life to the dead, and it is He Who has power over all things. [23:116] Therefore exalted be Allah, the King, the Reality: there is no god but He, the Lord of the Throne of Honour! [31:30] That is because Allah is the (only) Reality, and because whatever else they invoke besides Him is Falsehood; and because Allah,- He is the Most High, Most Great. SON: Allah is not just a reality, but THE Reality. In comparison all other things we hold as real are perishing and unreal. In fact, look at this: [57.20] Know that this world's life is only sport and play and gaiety and boasting among yourselves, and a vying in the multiplication of wealth and children and this world's life is naught but means of deception. So if we want to know where deception is, then look at the life of this world. FATHER: But we must seek the world.

FATHER: SON: FATHER: SON:

20

SON:

The only thing to seek from this world is the means of worshipping Allah. If that means eating, eat. If that means earning, earn. Does it say that in the Quran? [14.3] (To) those who love this world's life more than the hereafter, and turn away from Allah's path and desire to make it crooked; these are in a great error. [28.60] And whatever things you have been given are only a provision of this world's life and its adornment, and whatever is with Allah is better and more lasting; do you not then understand? [18.28] And withhold yourself with those who call on their Lord morning and evening desiring His goodwill, and let not your eyes pass from them, desiring the beauties of this world's life; and do not follow him whose heart We have made unmindful to Our remembrance, and he follows his low desires and his case is one in which due bounds are exceeded. [16.107] This is because they love this world's life more than the hereafter, and because Allah does not guide the unbelieving people. [13.26] Allah amplifies and straitens the means of subsistence for whom He pleases; and they rejoice in this world's life, and this world's life is nothing compared with the hereafter but a temporary enjoyment

FATHER: SON:

SON:

The major difficulty in accepting Yamani is the risks it takes for us world-loving people. Although we may fantasize that we are like Abu Dharr, and that we would have helped Imam Ali (a.s) and Imam Hussain (a.s), the reality is that we are untested. So nobody should be rich or prosperous?

FATHER:

21

SON:

Not necessarily. When you stop seeking the world, the world will seek you. But it takes immense sacrifice. Nothing should be done for the sake of the ego. People react very negatively to this sentence because they secretly know they cannot do it. But if we leave off scrutinizing our ego, then even if we think we are being helped in this world, in reality we are the biggest losers. Only the people in the following verse are helped, and they are far from ego and materialism: [40.51] Most surely We help Our apostles, and those who believe, in this world's life and on the day when the witnesses shall stand. At the same time: [42.36] So whatever thing you are given, that is only a provision of this world's life, and what is with Allah is better and more lasting for those who believe and rely on their Lord. Anyway a function of Yamani is to take us towards Reality, which is Allah, under the leadership of Imam e Zamana (ajf). At any rate, you cannot disagree that a real servant of Imam e Zamana (ajf) would do this.

FATHER:

No. I don't disagree with that. Its not possible for a servant of Imam e Zaman (ajf) to venerate and give status to materialistic things.

22

SON:

Even Imam Khumayni showed great disdain towards worldly matters and powers. He did tabarra from the enemies of Allah, and did not give them any value at all. People who have actually read and understood his work realize this. At the same time, he was not racist or extremist, and constantly invited them to Islam and was gentle to them. The Christian maid who used to serve him food while he was in jail was astonished to find that he would ask her to join him to eat, unlike so many extremist Muslims who even say it is forbidden to eat with non-Muslims. His letter to Russia, inviting them to Tauheed, was phenomenal. It was after they rejected his letter that that super power collapsed utterly. He acted on the last verse of Surah Fath, acting like those people who the verse refers to as those with him: [48:29] Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and those with him are firm of heart against the unbelievers, compassionate among themselves; you will see them bowing down, prostrating themselves, seeking grace from Allah and pleasure; their marks are in their faces because of the effect of prostration; that is their description in the Taurat and their description in the Injeel; like as seed-produce that puts forth its sprout, then strengthens it, so it becomes stout and stands firmly on its stem, delighting the sowers that He may enrage the unbelievers on account of them; Allah has promised those among them who believe and do good, forgiveness and a great reward.

FATHER: SON:

SubhanAllah In fact this verse, verse 29 of Surah Fath has been quoted to refer to the real Ansar of Allah (swt).

23

YAMANI WILL CALL AWAY FROM MATERIALISTIC ATTITUDES

ANSWERING THE OBJECTION TO SAYING ALAYHIS SALAM AFTER AHMAD AL-HASSANS NAME FATHER: SON: FATHER: SON: I have an objection. Yes? Why say "alayhis Salam" after his name? This argument actually shows how disconnected we have become from our history and our principles. Just because we say alayhis Salam after the names of Prophets, our Sunni brother and sisters confront us on the issue, saying we can't put it after the names of Imams. Imagine, we can say "peace be on you" after the names of Angels, but not Imams! But you said Allah is your witness that you believe in only 12 Imams? Father, do you imagine we only put alayhis Salam after the names of angels, Prophets and Imams? Yes.

FATHER: SON:

FATHER:

24

SON:

A little while ago while discussing the man who was chosen by Allah to be neither Prophet nor Imam, King Talut (a.s), did we not say "alayhis Salam" after his name? Also, Luqman (a.s), was he a Prophet or an Imam? Isn't it true that he is simply a wise man who Allah loved? But these are historical people. History isn't over yet. Any other examples? Last year in Muharram I went through your tapes of Nadeem Sarwar's Nohas of 1997. Remember these lines: In Majlisoon Mein Hoti Hai Insaniyat Ki Baat Zikrey Gham-e-Hussain Hai Wahdaniyat Ki Baat Yeah Majlisen Rasool Ki Haqaniyat Ki Baat Rad Karti Hain Yeah Majlisen Sufiyaniat Ki Baat Inkey Sabb To Hurr Bhi Alyhis Salam Hai Chashmey Khuda Mein Iska Bada Ehteram Hai Yeah Majlis-e-Hussain Alayhis Salaam Hai Chashmey Khuda Mein Iska Bara Ehteram Hai Today, because of his act of courage in finally accepting and helping the Imam of his time, we say "alayhis Salam" after his name. I imagine one can extend the same courtesy to the man whose name is in the Will of the Prophet (s.a.w.w).

FATHER: SON: FATHER: SON:

25

FATHER: SON:

I suppose. More recently another Noha by Irfan Haider came out titled "Hurr alayhis Salam". We did it at our house last year in our Majalis. I do not recall anyone in the audience reacting negatively then. It makes me sad when I see these false arguments coming to swerve people away from Yamani. It proves to me how scared people are of truth. But does the Quran say anything about this? Perhaps it is wrong to say it after Hazrat Hurr's name as well. How many times and in which places is the word "alayhis Salam" in the Quran? Zero How can that be? The closest parallel is in Surah Maryam: [19.15] And peace on him on the day he was born, and on the day he dies, and on the day he is raised to life. "Peace on him" is written as "Salam-un Alayhi". That's "PEACE, ON HIM".

FATHER:

SON: FATHER: SON:

FATHER: SON:

Some people do say Salamun Alayhi after the respected names. [20.47] So go you both to him and say: Surely we are two apostles of your Lord; therefore send the children of Israel with us and do not torment them! Indeed we have brought to you a communication from your Lord, and peace is on him who follows the guidance;

26

This was what Musa (a.s) and Haroon (a.s) said to Firawn. Meaning that the word "SALAM" is basically for all those who are guided. Even those who are foolish and ignorant people who fight with us, we are commanded to say "SALAM" to them. [28.55] And when they hear idle talk they turn aside from it and say: We shall have our deeds and you shall have your deeds; peace be on you, we do not desire the ignorant. Ibrahim (a.s) says "SALAM ALAYKUM" to his Kafir relative who opposed him. However, this sort of Salam is very different from the one which Allah has reserved for His believing servants. [36.58] Peace: a word from a Merciful Lord. FATHER: So I am to understand that the principle of saying "on him be peace" or "Alayhiss Salam" according to the Quran is to the people of guidance. Any other verse? [6.54] And when those who believe in Our communications come to you, say: Peace be on you... Interesting. Why does nobody talk of this? Religious gatherings attract fewer and fewer people. We are all so busy. We are taught to say alayhis Salam and we do it without questioning. What about "Raziullah Tala Unha"?

SON: FATHER: SON:

FATHER:

27

SON:

It means, as you know, "MAY ALLAH THE SUPREME BE PLEASED WITH YOU." We are taught to say it after the names of the guided Companions of the Prophet (s.a.w.w). In the Quran it says: [5.119] Allah will say: This is the day when their truth shall benefit the truthful ones; they shall have gardens beneath which rivers flow to abide in them for ever: Allah is well pleased with them and they are well pleased with Allah; this is the mighty achievement. This satisfaction of Allah, the fact He is pleased with someone, is the "mighty achievement" or the "fowz ul Azeem." It's a great title to give to a rightful person.

FATHER:

At any rate, I won't be throwing away my Nadeem Sarwar cassettes.

28

IT IS NO PROBLEM TO SAY ALAYHIS SALAM AFTER THE NAME OF A GUIDED PERSON WHO IS NEITHER PROPHET NOR IMAM

DO NOT NEGLECT HADEETH SON: It is common for laypeople like us to be excited by the condemnations of people outside our religion and sect. Under scrutiny it can still be established that a lot of the Hadeeth we hold as authentic are actually authentic. In fact the Hadeeth will bring our salvation. Disregarding any Hadeeth we hear on the basis of personal opinion is dangerous. But regarding every Hadeeth as important on the basis of personal opinion is also dangerous. [4.83] And when there comes to them news of security or fear they spread it abroad; and if they had referred it to the Apostle and to those in authority among them, those among them who can search out the knowledge of it would have known it, and were it not for the grace of Allah upon you and His mercy, you would have certainly followed the Shaitan save a few. We have to refer to the Prophet (s.a.w.w) and to the Imams, the Ulul Amr.

FATHER:

SON:

29

FATHER: SON: FATHER: SON:

Yes, in the past. Not today. Why? The Imam of our Time (ajf) is not concerned with these things. Again you let slip a very dangerous belief. You said Imam e Zamana (ajf) does not care for Islam? I meant he is in Occultation.

FATHER:

IMAM E ZAMANAS (ajf) GHAIBA (OCCULTATION) DOES NOT MEAN WE CANNOT COMMUNICATE WITH HIM

SON:

If Shaitan can affect us so much while in a form of Occultation, so much that every wrong thought or desire he can whisper in our ears, Imam e Zamana (ajf), who is the Master of the Created Universe, is weaker? Naudhobillah. Shaitan is different. How? Shaitan, or all the Jinn who are Shayateen, are the creations of Allah, are living in a place we cannot reach, cannot be seen by us, and are capable of communicating with us. Is Imam e Zamana (ajf) incapable of that? No. But how to contact him? Type duas.org in your laptop. Yes.

Spiritual attachment with the Imam of the Age (a.t.f.s.) During the period of Ghaibat, it is the responsibility of every being, rather of every believer, that he establishes a spiritual contact with the Imam of the Age (a.t.f.s.). When a person acquires the recognition of the Imam, a unique relationship is established wherein the heart, as per its capacity becomes a reflection of the characteristics and ethics of the Imam (a.t.f.s..).

Allah the Almighty informs us in the Holy Quran,'O those who believe! Be patient and enjoin patience amongst one another and remain in contact. And be careful of your duty to Allah lest you succeed.'(Surah Ale Imran (3): 200)

The above verse has been explained by the Holy Imams (a.s.) in various exegesis of the Holy Quran thus - O those who believe! Remain patient and steadfast during the period of Ghaibat of the Imam of the Age; be steadfast upon the right path as compared to your enemies and remain in contact with the awaited Imam. Obey the laws and regulations of Islam as laid down by Allah for surely in it is your success.(Tafseer al-Burhaan by Sayed Haashem al-Bahraani (r.a.) under the aforementioned verse)

Some people harbor the misconception that since we are living our lives in the period of the major occultation, it is impossible to maintain 'contact' with the Imam and there is no way by which we can have a relationship with the Imam of the Age (a.t.f.s.). It is important that we clarify this point over here.

31

As regards the traditions that are available on this matter, it is true that during the period of the major occultation, the person who claims that he can meet the Hidden Imam (a.t.f.s.) whenever he desires is a liar. It is equally true, however, that during this period there are numerous instances of people having been blessed by a visit from the Imam (a.t.f.s.), either in person or through a spiritual experience like a dream.

A little attention to this point will clarify all doubts about the matter of contact with the Hidden Imam (a.t.f.s.). For surely this grace - the opportunity to meet the Hidden Imam (a.t.f.s.) - is a direct consequence of the love and benevolence of the Imam (a.t.f.s.) himself.

Secondly, it is not necessary that contact be maintained only by regular meetings in person. A relationship need not be established only through physical contact. Rather, a relationship through spiritual means can also be defined as a contact. In reality, it is the establishment of this spiritual relationship that confirms the distinguished status of a believer.. And this is the relationship that every believer can establish and through which he attains such heights of recognition and eminence that he always perceives himself to be in the honoured presence of the Holy Imam (a.t.f.s.) and conducts himself and his affairs as if he is constantly under the watchful eyes of the Imam (a.t.f.s.). We have the example of Sayyed Ibne Taoos (r.a.) who narrates in the 'Supplication on the Day of Friday':

'O Allah, I seek nearness to You through a sincere heart (I consider myself lowly before your Might and Majesty), and to your representative - Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.) through an obedient body (my body is subservient to the commands of the Imam and I seek benefit from the parts of my body such that the Imam is pleased with my actions) and to the Holy Imams (a.s.) through a humble heart (I prefer them over myself and seek obedience to them)." (Jamaal al-Usboo', pg. 152)

32

Sayyed Ibne Taoos (r.a.) has drawn our attention to establishing a relation with the Imam of the Age (a.t.f.s.) and even guided us along this path. He outlines how one should present his questions before the Imam (a.t.f.s.) and seek a response from him. In his advice to his son, he (r.a.) mentions:

'O my son, if ever you are presented with a difficulty, the solution of which you desire to seek from Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s.), may our lives and souls be sacrificed upon him, then remember the tradition reported by Muhammed Ibn Yaqub Kulaini (r.a.): One day a person came to Abul Hasan (a.s.) and asked him, "If a person wishes to place his desires before his Imam, just as he would place it before Allah, then what should he do?" Imam (a.s.) replied, "If he has any desire, then he must bring it to his lips (he must express his desire); he will receive the reply for it."

It is necessary to clarify the above statement of the Imam. The statement indicates in a simple manner that if one has any needs then he must present it through the medium of prayers and tawassul (seeking help through the mediation of the Imam). It is true that the Imam (a.s.) is aware of the deepest secrets of our heart; nevertheless, he (a.s.) prefers that his followers put forth their desires verbally and express their helplessness with sincerity.

The absolute contact of Sayyed Ibne Taoos (r.a.) and his nearness to Imam (a.t.f.s.) was such that the latter (a.t.f.s.), with his benevolence and special grace, had blessed him with deep knowledge and hidden insights. Sayyed Ibne Taoos (r.a.) continued to bask in the shade of Imam's (a.t.f.s.) generosity till the end of his life. Such was the perfection of his recognition that Sayyed Ibne Taoos (r.a.), while speaking to his son about the conditions of the reappearance of the Imam (a.t.f.s.) quotes the following verse and says:"Allah preserves whatever He wishes. And obliterates what He wishes"(Surah Ra'ad (13): 39)

33

'If the above verse were not present in the Holy Quran, I would have informed you easily about the day and the time of Imam's (a.t.f.s.) reappearance, may our lives be sacrificed upon him!'

Sayyed Ibne Taoos (r.a.) and praying for the Imam of the Age (a.t.f.s.)

Sayyed Ibne Taoos (r.a.) held the recitation of supplication in high regard. He encouraged establishing a personal and private relation with the Holy Imams (a.t.f.s.) as well. For the sake of brevity, we are unable to delve much into the supplications of Sayyed Ibne Taoos (r.a.), though it is sufficient to say that a comprehensive book can be compiled on this topic.

In his book, "Jamaal al-Usboo'", on the topic of the Etiquette of Supplication, Sayyed Ibne Taoos (r.a.) writes, "An important aspect to be remembered from the etiquette of supplication is that one should prefer supplicating for Hazrat Baqiyatullah, Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.) before seeking one's own desires."

He continues, "At the time of seeking their desires from Allah, believers should first remember the desires of Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.). Thereafter, the believer should express his needs. Do not perform prayers, fast or supplicate out of habit. Remember, each person is tested through his own actions which may lead to a false impression and one cannot rely upon such actions. Your prayers, fasts and supplications should principally be for the sake of Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.) and then for yourself. This is because the continued existence this world and its elements are contingent to the blessed presence of the Imam (a.t.f.s.). When your very existence is protected by the existence of another personality, how can it be that we prefer ourselves over that exalted personality? Rather, it is incumbent that we prefer his needs over our own and his desires over our own. And this action itself will be a measure of our servitude and obedience for surely he (a.t.f.s.) is not

34

in need of our prayers and fasts. He (a.t.f.s.) is needless of them. It is we who need him (a.t.f.s.). It is through him that our shortcomings and defects will be corrected and we will enjoy a peaceful and happy life."

Regarding the actions for the holy month of Ramazan, Sayyed Ibne Taoos (r.a.), writes in his book "al-Mazaar" about the supplication which is to be recited before dawn (Seher) as follows: "It is the duty of every believer in the nights of this month that before and after every supplication, he remembers the holy personality of Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.) - the representative of the All Merciful Allah amongst His creatures on the face of this earth. This is because he is the owner of all that the one who fasts needs. Allah has entrusted him with all affairs.'(Kitab-e-Imam-eZamana (a.t.f.s.) wa Sayyed Ibne Taoos (r.a.), pp. 90-93)

Sayyed Ibne Taoos (r.a.) has enumerated several supplications through which one can reach Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.). These supplications are mentioned in several books. He has also narrated several incidents wherein people have had the glad opportunity to meet the Holy Imam (a.s.). Scholars have suggested that instances, wherein the visitor's name is not mentioned, is Sayyed Ibne Taoos (r.a.) himself.

Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.) and supplications

Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.) has true affection for those who love him. The extent of his fondness and the importance he gives to their remembrance in his prayers is highlighted by Allamah Majlisi (r.a.) and Mohaddes Noori (r.a.). They have both narrated that Sayyed Ibne Taoos (r.a.) said, 'One morning, after Seher, I visited the Sardab (cellar of the house of Imam Hasan Askari (a.s.) in Samarra) for offering prayers when I saw that Imam-e- Zaman (a.t.f.s.) was beseeching Allah,

35

'O Allah! Our Shias have been created from our light and the remainder of our earth (teenat). They have sinned in the hope of our love and benevolence. If their sin is related to Your Exalted Self, then You forgive them. We will be satisfied with Your forgiveness. And if their sin is related to the rights of their brethren, then You correct their shortcomings and grant them from the part of Khums which is our right so that they may be satisfied with it. Protect them from the fire of Hell and do not gather them along with our enemies in Your punishment.'

On reflecting on the words of Imam's (a.t.f..s.) invocation, we are overcome with shame and remorse. The blessed personality, whose continued presence ensures the existence of this world and its sustenance - the Imam of the Age (a.t.f.s.), prays for sinners like us and seeks forgiveness that we may be saved from Hellfire. For us sinners, who are the direct recipients of his love and affection, is it right that we forget him and remove his remembrance from our hearts and minds? Or rather, shouldn't we ensure that we fill our hearts and minds with his remembrance to such an extent that not a moment of our life passes by without his remembrance?

O Allah! Grant us the taufeeq that we develop the sincere love of our Imam in our hearts! Aameen! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------SON: FATHER: Would you like to take a break now? Yes. This in particular has strangely affected me:

"In reality, it is the establishment of this spiritual relationship that confirms the distinguished status of a believer. It seems like nobody can feel safe unless they can communicate with Imam (ajf)! SON: And even then, one may fall into the trap of false security.

36

FATHER:

Tomorrow we will talk more inshaAllah. I swear to Allah I will ask for the answer through the Waseela of our living Imam (ajf). Be the answer yes or no, I will not stop asking about this Yamani from Imam e Zamana (ajf) himself until he gives me a definite response through the grace of Allah. I never thought I may be hurting Imam e Zamana (ajf) through such an action. Ameen.

SON:

SPIRITUALLY CONNECTING WITH THE AHLUL BAYT (a.s) IN THE DREAM WORLD SON: Let us review what we have already established. In his advice to his son, he (r.a.) mentions: 'O my son, if ever you are presented with a difficulty, the solution of which you desire to seek from Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s.), may our lives and souls be sacrificed upon him, then remember the tradition reported by Muhammed Ibn Yaqub Kulaini (r.a.): One day a person came to Abul Hasan (a.s.) and asked him, "If a person wishes to place his desires before his Imam, just as he would place it before Allah, then what should he do?" Imam (a.s.) replied, "If he has any desire, then he must bring it to his lips (he must express his desire); he will receive the reply for it." FATHER: SON: Did we not discuss it last time? We were discussing Hadeeth and then started talking about communicating with our Living Imam (ajf). But there is something more to discuss about talking

37

with Imam e Zamana (ajf) which needs attention. FATHER: SON: Which is? The spiritual connection with Imam (ajf), and with all the Ahlul Bayt (a.s), is through visions and dreams. It sounds illogical to me. In fact, you say they may be confused dreams. Precisely. Could you open the Quran to Surah Zumar Verse 42? [39.42] Allah takes the souls at the time of their death, and those that die not during their sleep; then He withholds those on whom He has passed the decree of death and sends the others back till an appointed term; most surely there are signs in this for a people who reflect. But where does the soul go at night? SON: Imam Jafar Sadiq (a.s) has said that the souls connection with the body is like the connection of the Sun with the Earth. When the Sun is hidden behind a cloud, its radiance still spreads on Earth. Do you know why the Christian Wahb e Kalby joined Imam Hussain (a.s) in Karbala? He had a dream in which Hazrat Isa (a.s) told him to go to Karbala. Many people who believe in Yamani Ahmad al-Hassan (a.s) received visions and dreams

Imam e Zamana (ajf) informing them that it is truth. FATHER: They might be lying.

AHMAD AL HASSAN (a.s) IS NOT ASKING FOR MONEY SON: All of them? You have no evidence, but that does not stop you. Is Ahmad al-Hassan asking for money? No. I read on the website that he has ordered us to give money directly to poor people with no intermediaries. Yes, that is what Imam e Zamana (ajf) ordered his last Representative, to tell the people. But people invented the innovation of giving Khums to the scholars, which then disappears into their pockets. Are you saying that it is the direct order of Imam e Zamana (ajf) not to pay Khums to the scholars? The scholars themselves said it. Ayatullah Khoi used to say Why do you give the Khums to us?

IMAM E ZAMANAS (ajf) DIRECTLY ORDERS US TO LOOK AT THE TRANSMITTERS OF HADEETH TO LEARN ABOUT EVENTS AFTER HIM

SON:

Coming back to the dreams. You said perhaps they are lying. If they are lying, then if I told you that I too have had a dream like that, in fact several dreams, then I would be lying also? There's no need to be angry. If you realized how close death was to all of us, then perhaps you would not feel so secure about a matter that can lead a person away from the love of Imam e Zamana (ajf). You worry enough about the short time you have on this Earth to write a Will and to make sure my inheritance and rights are

FATHER: SON:

40

safe. But the rights of the Ahlul Bayt (a.s) on you are more heavy and pressing. If only you could have given them at least as much importance as you give your son. FATHER: I do give them importance. But these matters are new to me. I admit I should not have remained ignorant of them. These matters are new to both of us. It is the fashion of the time for the Shias of Ahlul Bayt (a.s) to have all the latest gadgets and books of philosophy. But the collections of Hadeeth do not make it onto our bookshelves. This is despite the fact that when people asked the same questions we are asking, namely, in this Occultation of Imam e Zamana (ajf), where do we find out about him? then the answer was given. It is our fault if we do not read our own books, and are more happy and satisfied with TV shows, social gatherings and popularity and are unhappy with the words of Ahlul Bayt (a.s). FATHER: SON: What was the answer? Sheikh al-Saduq, in Ikmal al-Din, Volume 2, p.483 writes that Imam e Zamana (ajf) himself wrote in a letter the following:As for events that may occur, refer to the transmitters of our teachings. Also, in a letter he mentions:

SON:

41

You must refer (your questions) to the narrators of our traditions. We have appointed them as our proof (Hujjat) upon you. [Pg. 288] of "Kalemat-ul-Imam al-Mahdi by Ayatullah Syed Hassa al-Shirazi.

COMING BACK TO DREAMS

FATHER: SON:

What is the dream you saw? I would never reveal it without taking Istakhara, as these matters are forbidden to be divulged to those who have not estimated Allah with His true Estimation. I took Istakhara for a long time about it and tonight for the first time it came yes to tell. So this is the dream. I saw the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.w) in my dream. He gave me a treasure and expressed happiness with me and my decision to accept Ahmad al-Hassan (a.s) as Yamani.

FATHER:

You did not tell me that earlier.

42

SON: FATHER: SON:

In another dream I saw Yamani (a.s) himselfWhat? Yes, that Ahmad al-Hassan (a.s) you campaign against. He was in the dream and was sitting at a table teaching the Ansar. It was a beautiful clean room, sparkling with cleanliness, and with lovely smelling flowers.

REAL SEEKERS OF SALVATION SEEK NON-STOP UNTIL ALLAH GIVES THEM THEIR ANSWER FATHER: SON: Why could I not know this earlier? Because you had abandoned logic and reasoning, and were following guesswork. And when I would disprove your false conspiracy theories, you would use your position as head of the household to bully me into silence. [38.23] Surely this is my brother; he has ninety-nine ewes and I have a single ewe; but he said: Make it over to me, and he has prevailed against me in discourse. FATHER: SON: I thought I could give the matter thought for a few years and see what happened. Remember this story from Surah Kahf:

43

[18.60] And when Musa said to his servant: I will not cease until I reach the junction of the two rivers or I will go on for years. [18.61] So when they had reached the junction of the two (rivers) they forgot their fish, and it took its way into the sea, going away. [18.62] But when they had gone farther, he said to his servant: Bring to us our morning meal, certainly we have met with fatigue from this our journey. [18.63] He said: Did you see when we took refuge on the rock then I forgot the fish, and nothing made me forget to speak of it but the Shaitan, and it took its way into the river; what a wonder! [18.64] He said: This is what we sought for; so they returned retracing their footsteps. [18.65] Then they found one from among Our servants whom We had granted mercy from Us and whom We had taught knowledge from Ourselves. [18.66] Musa said to him: Shall I follow you on condition that you should teach me right knowledge of what you have been taught? If you do not believe in him, then you should have gone non-stop to establish whether he was right or wrong. And above all, you should have asked Imam e Zamana (ajf) to give you an answer on the matter. Does it make sense that the Ahlul Bayt (a.s) tell me Ahmad al-Hassan (a.s) is the Yamani, and are silent to you? At least the answer in negative should have been given, so you could know. Why did you not ask him as he deserved to be asked? FATHER: Leave. I need to think.

44

GOALS OF YAMANI ARE THE SAME AS THE GOALS OF THE PROPHETS FATHER: SON: What are the main goals of Ahmad alHassan? We can identify these goals through his works. Type: yamani.hashemstudios.com. Go to the section Who is Imam Ahmad alHassan? and see the post A Brief View of Imam Ahmad al-Hassans Call and Goals to read the interview where someone asked that. Ill read it out.

NY Times Peace be upon you, Mercy of Allah and His blessings, Furthermore, these are some questions that we would like your eminence to answer in the nearest time possible, for the purpose of publishing them in an article about your mission and the group of Imam al Mahdi (a.s.). There are many

45

popular American newspapers willing to publish this article, such as The NY times, Washington Post, and Newsweek. Regards. The sender: Zyad Qasim Al Zubaidi, independent journalist, NY, United States.

Q2: What are the main goals of your mission? The goal of my mission is the same goals of the prophets Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus (pbuta), and Mohammed (pbuhhp), which is to spread the true unification. The unification that Allah (swt) approves of, and to fill the world with peace and justice after it has been filled up with oppression and injustice.

Q3: When did your mission start? And what was the situation at that time?

The mission started during the end of year 1999 in the school of religious science in Al-Najaf. It started to spread in public before the fall of the dictator Saddam Hussein by approximately 10 months. Also, the dictator Saddam Hussein tried to arrest and execute me, but because of Allahs grace and mercy with me, Allah protected me.

Q5: What are the steps that you undertook in order to reform the school of religious sciences? And were they successful? My attempts in reforming the school of religious knowledge started at the beginning of the mission and before the call had been public. The focal points of my attempts were centered on three points: Scientific reformation: I used two ways in order to do this. One of them was writing a book called the path to Allah. It had a positive effect where it effected the sheikh Mohammed Al Yaqubi. He became interested in the book and wanted to republish it (as I was told from some of the sheikhs and men that follow him). The

46

second way to reform the school was by talking and discussing with the students and scholars the existing scientific disorder. Some people who believed in me and others who were affected in the truth of my speech used to help me. Practical reformation: and it is related to enjoining the right and forbidding the wrong. Ill provide you with an example for this; when the dictator Saddam tarnished the Quran when he wrote it with his own dirty blood, Muslims know that blood sully and it is forbidden to sully the Quran. At that time I asked the scholars to take a stance, at least by issuing a statement, but they apologized because their souls were dearer to them than the Quran. If they truly believed that there is no power unless by Allah, then they would have taken a stance while being certain that Allah will always be there to defend them. And I personally took a stance. I used to condemn this malignant act that the tyrant Saddam done and in multiple times, during my lectures in assemblies, I said that Saddam wrote his death using his own hands when he wrote the Quran in his sullied blood, and instead of helping me they started moving away from me. In fact one of them kicked me out in a polite manner!! Because he was scared that if Saddam arrested and executed me, than he will be executed as well. Reason being is because he listened to my speech that was against the tyrant Saddam!! After all, I didnt get any response from them in this area (Practical reformation). Financial repair: And it is related to the money given as charity to poor people. That was the last thing before the call became public and I found many students from the school of religious science that helped me, a few of them because of the poor but the majority was because they themselves were suffering from the financial discrimination that was practiced in the school of religious sciences. In this area, many results were achieved after I waded through with some men from the school of religious science who supported me. There were numerous negotiations that took place with the religious scholars in Al-Najaf, and amongst those scholars were Mr. Al-sistani, Mr. Saed Al-Hakim and the sheikh Mohammed Ishaq Al-Fayath. Most of them only responded by speech, and the truth be said that sheikh al Yakubi didnt argue. In fact he confessed that what was happening was wrong and he said we need to consider financial repair after one of the people that believed in me reminded him of The Prince of Believers Imam Ali (A.S) and how he dealt with the fiscal policy. After all, the results about this matter were immediate and facilitated but the groups didnt want to take extra steps forward.

47

SON: FATHER: SON:

Theres more, which you can read at your leisure. Nothing in all this sounds wrong. His call fulfills the prophecy in Imam Baqirs (a.s) Hadeeth that the Yamani will have the best of banners. Ahmad al-Hassan (a.s) has the banner of Supremacy of Allah. Only someone who is aided by Allah can proclaim such a thing in today's materialistic, secular, atheist and anti-God society, where even Muslims have succumbed to the spiritual disease of forgetting Amr bil Maroof. We know it is forbidden to attend gatherings where music is played, yet we do it saying "What will everyone else think?" We know that America's policies have never been for the good of the Muslims, and we pretend that the government is not actively hostile to us. This is despite the working scholar Imam Khumayni saying "The day America praises us is the day we mourn!" This was not the arbitary statement of an angry man, but the moral stance of a lover of Ahlul Bayt (a.s) who recognized the system of Dajjal when he saw it. Despite his gentle akhlaq Imam Khumayni dubbed America as the "Big Shaitan". Why? Is it just rhetoric? Or is it fact that America fulfills all the prophecies that are for Dajjal, right down to it's support of Israel.

48

So the stance of Supremacy of Allah and not supremacy of the people is the bravest and best banner a Shia of Ahlul Bayt (a.s) can have. It is the only banner worthy of leading us to Imam e Zamana (ajf).

WHAT ABOUT MIRACLES?

FATHER:

You mentioned Hadeeth, Dreams and his own actions as evidence for Ahmad alHassan. Are there any miracles? Yes, there have been many. You can find them on YouTube. But miracles are not the same as using ones intellect, so I will only tell you one impressive miracle. In fact, its from the same article we were reading. Let me read it aloud:

SON:

Most of those who believed, believed either because they have met the supporters in the outside countries and they have showed them proof of this call, or they have visited the website. Most of them saw visions in their sleep and they believed or some of them had some sort of a metaphysical proof. An example of this was a letter from a Christian Egyptian who believed in this call and sent a letter to the Ansar brothers (supporters of Imam Mahdi) through the internet.

49

Name: Emanuel Raphael Country: Egypt Letters content: to the delegate on the savior. I have a letter for you written 322 years ago from the bishop Sarkhases Mekha Al Maamadan that is saved and stamped although I did not know how to solve its mystery but the name of your majesty is clearly on it. Kindly send me a preferred address. With my respect, Emanuel Age: 71 FATHER: SON: This is amazing. A letter written for Ahmad al-Hassan from 322 years ago? He has been awaited for for a long time.

50

WILL OF THE PROPHET (s.a.w.w)

FATHER: SON:

What about the Will of the Prophet (s.a.w.w)? The Will of the Prophet (s.a.w.w) was dictated to and written for Imam Ali (a.s). It is considered authentic. Shaykh Toosi and Muhammad Muhammad Sadiq as-Sadr were determined that is authentic. The text is as follows:

'O Father of Al Hassan, bring me a leaf and a paper, and he dictated his will until he came to a position where he said "O Ali, there will be twelve Imams and after them there will be twelve Mahdis. You, O Ali, are the first of the twelve Imams, God has named you in his heavens Ali Al Mortada,The Prince of the believers, Grand truthful, the bright Farouq (Judge and differentiating between true and false), the trusted, and the Mahdi (rightly guided). These names may not be truly attributed to other than you. O Ali, you are my guardian on my own family, their living and their dead. My women, whom you maintain shall find me tomorrow, and whom you reject I am acquitted of her. I will not see her and she will not see me on the day of resurrection, and you are the successor (Khalifa) on my nation after me. If the day of death comes to you, hand it over to my son

51

Hassan the very beneficial. Then if the day of death comes to him, let him hand it over to my son Al Hussein, the Martyr, the Pure and the Assassinated. If the day of death comes to him, let him hand it over to his son, the master of the servants and worshipers Ali.If the day of death comes to him, let him hand it over to his son, Mohamed Al Baqir. If the day of death comes to him, let him hand it over to his son, Jafar Al Sadiq (the honest). If the day of death comes to him, let him hand it over to his son, Moussa Al Kadhim (The Patient). If the day of death comes to him, let him hand it over to his son, Ali Al Reda.If the day of death comes to him, let him hand it over to his son, Mohamed Al Thiqa (The Trustworthy). If the day of death comes to him, let him hand it over to his son, Ali Al Nasih (The Advisor). If the day death of comes to him, let him hand it over to his son, Al Hassan Al Fadil. If the day of death comes to him, let him hand it over to his son, Mohammed the Mandate of the Holy Family of Mohamad Peace be upon them all. These are the twelve Imams. Then there will be twelve Mahdis after them. then when Allah receiveth him, let him hand it over to his son, the first of the close ones, he has three names, one like mine and my Fathers: Abdollah (Servant of God), Ahmad and the third name is The Mahdi (the guided) and he is the first Believer FATHER: SON: Wait a minute. Are we saying that there is a son of Imam e Zamana (ajf)? Not only that, but that this son is this Yamani Ahmad al-Hassan (a.s). You see the danger of rejecting him? One who rejects a son has surely rejected his father. This is unheard of. On the contrary there are many stories of the family of Imam e Zamana (ajf). There is even a family tree which has been signed and sealed, which testifies to the children of Imam e Zamana (ajf). Ahmad al-Hassan (a.s) is the fifth generation from him. Look, let me find it:

FATHER: SON:

52

THE TWELVE MAHDIS

FATHER: SON:

But does this Will say there will be 12 Mahdis after the 12 Imams? How is this? According to this Hadeeth, they will be of the Shias of the Imams, and subordinates of the Imams. Its from Kamaaluddin wa Tamaamun Nima (Perfection of faith and completion of divine favor) by Shaykh asSadooq. Narrated to us Ali bin Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Imran al-Daqqaq: Narrated to us Muhammad bin Abi Abdullah Kufi: Narrated to us Musa bin Imran Nakahi from his uncle Husain bin Yazid Naufali from Ali bin Abi Hamza from Abi Baseer that he said: I said to asSadiq Jafar bin Muhammad (a.s.): O son of Allahs Messenger, I have heard from your father that he said: There will twelve Mahdis after the Qaim? Imam (a.s.) said: He has said twelve Mahdis not twelve Imams. They shall be our Shias

56 -

53

who would call the people towards our Wilayat (guardianship) and Marefat (recognition) of our rights. FATHER: That makes it conclusive that the 12 Mahdis the followers of Ahmad al-Hassan talk about are but servants of the Imams. I was trying to tell you from the start that this is the case. There are only 12 Imams after the Prophet (s.a.w.w), and according to Hadeeth these Imams are followed by these 12 Mahdis who call the people towards the Imams. I feel like it is disrespectful to Imam e Zamana (ajf) to say that there is more than one Mahdi. The word Mahdi means Guided. And the Hadeeth mentions that Imam e Zamana (ajf), and in fact all the Imams, are superior to the prophesized Mahdis. Any other evidence? We know that Mahdi is the title of Imam e Zamana (ajf). What is the title of the Prophet (s.a.w.w)? Mustafa. If we say it is disrespectful to Imam e Zamana (ajf) to refer to other people as Mahdis, then by that logic it is disrespectful to the Prophet (s.a.w.w) to have other people referred to as Mustafa. True.

Lets open the Quran to Surah Suad, Verse 47. Can you recite the Arabic? )74:83( The translation reads: And most surely they were with Us, of the elect, the best. (38:47) And if you read verse 45, you will see that this verse is talking about other Prophets. Surah Suad 38:45-47:And remember Our servants Ibrahim and Ishaq and Yaqoub, men of power and insight. Surely We purified them by a pure quality, the keeping in mind of the (final) abode

And most surely they were with Us, of the ( elect), the best.
Yet although Ibrahim (a.s), Ishaq (a.s) and Yaqoob (a.s) were of the elect, the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.w) is higher than them in rank and is their leader. FATHER: SON: That makes sense. Let's go back to the transcript of the Arrived:

Someone who has never heard of the Mahdis might ask who are the Mahdis? Are they mentioned in the traditions of the family of Mohammed a.s.? And the answer is Yes, the Mahdis have been mentioned in many traditions, the most important tradition of them all being the holy will of the Prophet Mohammed SAWAS in the night of his passing

55

Imam Al Sadiq a.s. said "Verily we have 12 Mahdis from the sons of Hussein a.s. after the Qaim a.s." - Mukhtaser Basaer Al Daragat page 49 And Imam Al Sajjad a.s. (Zainul Abideen) said "The Qaim shall rise then there shall be after him 12 Mahdis" - Sharh Alakhbar And from Al Baqir and Al Sadiq a.s. who said in mentioning Al Kufa: "It has in it the Masjid of Sahla, Allah has not sent a Prophet except that he prayed in it, in it shall appear the justice of Allah and in it is the Qaim and the Qaims after him" "And in it is the Rank of the Prophets and the Vicegerents and the Preferred Ones" - Wasael Al Shia, part 3, page 524 Then there came in the hadith of Imam Mahdi a.s. which has to be taken into account, concerning the way to send peace and blessings upon Mohammed and the Progeny of Mohammed a.s. Until he reached the part about himself a.s. and he said: "Allah grant him (Imam Mahdi a.s.) in his own self and his offspring and his Shia and his congregation and his preferred ones and the general ones and his enemy and all of the people..." "of the World all that his eyes are satisfied with and all that his self is pleased with" until he a.s. reached the point of saying:

"And increase in their life spans and delay in their moments of death and make them reach all of their wishes in this World and the Next"

And this Dua (prayer) is mentioned in 'Ghaybat Al Toosi' page 186 and in 'Gamal Al Asbo' on page 301 And also what came in the dua (prayer) of Imam Ali Rida a.s. for Imam Mahdi a.s. in the age of his occultation and it is Sahih "...O Allah grant him (Imam Mahdi a.s.) in his self and his family and his sons and his offspring and all of his congregation what pleases his eye and what his self is satisfied with and gather for him the rulership of all the Kingdoms..."

56

Until it said "May Allah send His blessings upon his (Imam Mahdi's a.s.) successors and the Imams from his sons" "And help them reach their wishes and increase in their lives and glorify their victory" until the end of the dua (prayer). This dua is mentioned in 'Mafatih Al Jinan' on page 618 and 'Gamal Al Asbo' by Ibn Tawus on page 309 and 'Mosbah Al Mutahajid' by Al Toosi on page 409 and other than that, are many traditions. And all these traditions testify to the truth of the idea of the Mahdis as mentioned in the Will of the Prophet sawas and now we know that the Yamani is a Proof of the Proofs of Allah and that he is infallible.

ARE THE YAMANI AND THE FIRST MAHDI THE SAME PERSON?

FATHER:

How can we tell that the Yamani and the first Mahdi are supposed to be the same person? Lets continue reading.

SON:

And that he (the Yamani) is the same character mentioned as the first of the Mahdis by the name of Ahmed in the Will of the Prophet sawas and he is the first of the believers in Imam Mahdi a.s. and his successor. And if you want more proof that the Yamani himself is the successor Imam Mahdi a.s. then I say that the Yamani is one who paves the way in the time of the Holy Appearance And he is one of the 313 and he is the one who hands over the banner to Imam Mahdi and the first of the Mahdis is also here in the time of the Appearance and he is the first to believe in Imam Mahdi at the time of his Appearance, before his rise.

57

So one of them, meaning the Yamani or the first Mahdi must be a proof upon the other and since the Imams and the Mahdis are proofs upon all of creation then the first Mahdi must be a proof upon the Yamani if they are in fact not the same person. And if it were the case then the first Mahdi would be the proof upon the Yamani and therefore the role of the Yamani would be secondary and the first Mahdi would be the leader of Imam Mahdi's revolution and Yamani his helper and that is not true. Because the Yamani is the primary person who paves the path for Imam Mahdi and is the leader of the Holy Appearance movement so it is inevitable that the first Mahdi is the Yamani and the Yamani is the first Mahdi.

SUPREMACY OF ALLAH AND NOT SUPREMACY OF PEOPLE

FATHER: SON: FATHER: SON: FATHER: SON: FATHER: SON:

I have a few questions about his criticism of democracy. Yes. Isn't democracy the best form of government? Government under Imam e Zamana (ajf) is the best. Yes, but he is in Occultation. Why? Why what? Why is he in Occultation?

59

FATHER: SON:

I'm not sure. Isn't it because of the situation that Imamate which had been rejected by the majority since the time of Imam Ali (a.s), in the democracy called "Shoora", had developed hostile enemies who were aware of the noble role of the Qaim (ajf) and had plotted to kill him? Yes, the reason Imam Hassan al-Askari (a.s) is titled "Askari" is because he was forced to live inside a military base so he could be constantly under surveillance. Yes. So that as soon as Imam e Zamana (ajf) was born they could instantly kill him. From Kamaluddin by Shaykh Sadooq:

FATHER:

SON:

7 - And through the same chain of narrators from Muhammad bin Masud: Narrated to me Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Khalid: Narrated to me Ahmad bin Hilal from Uthman bin Isa Rawasi from Khalid bin Najih Jawwaz from Zurarah that he said: Abi Abdullah (a.s.) said: O Zurarah, occultation is inevitable for the Qaim. I said: Why? He said: He will fear for his life - and he pointed to his stomach with his hand. 8 - And through the same chain of narrators from Muhammad bin Masud: Narrated to me Muhammad bin Ibrahim Warraq: Narrated to us Hamdan bin Ahmad Qalanisi from Ayyub bin Nuh from Safwan bin Yahya from Ibne Bukair from Zurarah that he said: I heard Aba Jafar (a.s.) say: There is occultation for the Qaim before his advent. I said: Why? He said: He will fear - and he pointed to his stomach with his hand.

60

FATHER: SON:

You're saying that the Occultation is to save his life. Yes, I have heard this. More than that. It is because people have united on rejecting him, and for seeing no need for him. How so? Have you read in the Quran:

FATHER: SON:

[7.96] And if the people of the towns had believed and guarded (against evil) We would certainly have opened up for them blessings from the heaven and the earth, but they rejected, so We overtook them for what they had earned. FATHER: You're saying that if the people had all wanted Imam e Zamana (ajf) to govern them, then he would not be in Occultation? When Imam Ali (a.s) was rejected, and the people cast votes to reject him, these are his words which I have saved from the Book of Sulaym ibn Qays al-Hillali. As we know, Imam Jafar Sadiq (a.s) said about this book: If anyone from our Shia and devotees does not have the book of Sulaym ibn Qays al Hilali, then he does not have any of our things, and he does not know any of our matters. This is the first book of Shia and is one of the secrets of Ale-Muhammad (a.s) FATHER: SON: What does it say? By my life, if people when the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) passed away, had accepted us, listened to us and had handed over their tasks to us, then they would be eating from over and below their feet.
There are also many Hadeeth which actually state that whoever appoints leaders other than Imams will be killed by Imam e Zamana (ajf).

SON:

61

ThisLook at the Tafseer from al-Kafi of the following: In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. [88.1] Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? [88.2] (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, [88.3] Laboring, appointing, [88.4] Entering into burning fire,

Muhammad narrates from his father who narrates, "I asked Imam Jafar Sadiq (asws) regarding the ayah, "Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming?" (88:1) Imam (a.s) replied, "It refers to when al Mahdi (ajf) will go to the people with sword." I asked about the ayah, "(Some) faces on that day shall be downcast," (88:2) Imam(a.s) replied, "It means they will not be able to stop al Mahdi (ajf)". I asked about the word, "labouring" (88:3) Imam (a.s) replied, "Their deeds were not based on that which was sent down by Allah". I asked about the word "appointing" (88:3). Imam (a.s) replied, "They appointed others for leadership instead of the Imams (a.s)." I asked about the ayah, "Entering into burning fire," (88:4) Imam (a.s) replied, "They will enter the fire of war in this life at the time of al Mahdi (ajf) and they will enter the blazing fire of hell in the hereafter." (Al Kafi vol 8 pg 50)

62

REJECTING THE PLEDGE CAUSES SEPARATION BETWEEN THE SHIA AND IMAM E ZAMANA (ajf)
SON: You know, people asked Imam e Zamana (ajf) via letters why they could not meet him and how to end it. Really? But then if we know how to end it, then we should do that! See the Imams (ajf) words. Theyre from a book the book "Kalemat-ul-Imam alMahdi". This single book contains all the letters of Imam (a.s.) which are found in by Ayatullah Syed Hassan Shirazi which shows questions from the Shias and their answers by Imam e Zamana (ajf).

FATHER:

SON:

If our Shias (may Allah grant them the taufeeq of obedience) had been united in fulfilling the pledge, then certainly there would have been no delay in our meeting and they would have been graced with this opportunity several times. However, their

63

actions are most unbecoming of Shias, and have kept them away from us. [pg. 200] FATHER: So it is our duty to unite to fulfill the pledge?

SON:

The moment we do that in all sincerity, then, like Imam (ajf) says, there would be no delay in our meeting him. This is why Ahmad al-Hassan says not just monarchy, dictatorship, and other tyrannical governments but also democracy is not desirable. As government belongs to Allah, if one day all people were to vote against Allah, as they did in Saqifa, then it would be a major sin. [28.68] And your Lord creates and chooses whom He pleases; to choose is not theirs; glory be to Allah

64

WHEN A GOVERNMENT OR LEADERSHIP OF THE SHIAS TRUSTS ALLAH ALONE THEN THEY ARE HELPED BY IMAM E ZAMANA (ajf)

SON:

When one man, namely Imam Khumayni, started a government only for the sake of Allah, he was aided extensively by Imam e Zamana (ajf). You must have heard the stories of how he was in strong connection with him. Have you heard the story? Let's go to "Rays of the Sun: 83 Stories from the Life of Imam Khomeini" by Foundation of the Representation of the Office of Spiritual Leadership in Universities. Section 9: "One day I was at the house of Agha Fadhl Lankarani, one of the teachers of the Islamic Seminary in Qom. He narrated from one of his friends that: We were with the Imam in the holy city of Najaf and the conversation turned to Iran. I said: What is your command about removing the Shah from Iran? One cannot remove a

65

tenant from his house, and you want to want to remove the Shah of the nation? Imam sat silent. I thought maybe he hadnt heard me. I repeated my words. Imam got upset and said: So-and-so! What are you saying? Would Hazrat Baqiyatullah Imam Mahdi (aj) tell me anything wrong? The Shah must go." FATHER: I see. Yes, it is true that the servants of Imam e Zamana (ajf) who are sincere are certainly helped by Allah.

ALLAH DOES NOT CHANGE HIS SUNNAT

FATHER: SON:

But shouldnt it be the case that more people should believe in this cause? Many do. The Ansar who have pledged allegiance come from all over the world. From Iraq, to Pakistan, to Venezuela and Australia. In fact theres an organization in Australia committed to fighting for the release of the Ansar from jail. But the majority of the Shia who are anxiously waiting for Imam e Zamana (ajf) do not even know what the Yamani is supposed to do, and that he is expected to arrive.
[25.18] but You did make them and their fathers to enjoy until they forsook the reminder

FATHER:

SON:

66

The Prophet (s.a.w.w) was emphatic that ignorance of the Signs of Allah (swt) is itself a sign of the Endtimes. Also, remember that the majority of the Jews and Christians were anxiously waiting for the arrival of the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.w). But when he came and he brought what was new for them, they rejected him although he fulfilled all the signs.
[2.87] And most certainly We gave Musa the Book and We sent Messengers after him one after another; and We gave Isa, the son of Marium, clear arguments and strengthened him with the holy spirit, What! whenever then a Messenger came to you with that which your souls did not desire, you were insolent so you called some liars and some you slew. [2.88] And they say: Our hearts are covered. Nay, Allah has cursed them on account of their unbelief; so little it is that they believe. [2.89] And when there came to them a Book from Allah verifying that which they have, and before they used to pray for victory against those who disbelieve, but when there came to them (Prophet) that which they did not recognize, they disbelieved in him; so Allah's curse is on the unbelievers. [2.90] Evil is that for which they have sold their souls-- that they should deny what Allah has revealed, out of envy that Allah should send down of His grace on whomsoever of His servants He pleases; so they have made themselves deserving of wrath upon wrath, and there is a disgraceful punishment for the unbelievers. [2.91] And when it is said to them, Believe in what Allah has revealed, they say: We believe in that which was revealed to us; and they deny what is besides that, while it is the truth verifying that which they have.

67

Say: Why then did you kill Allah's Messengers before if you were indeed believers? FATHER: SON: At least the Shias have never killed any Prophets or Imams. True. But there were always two kinds of Shias. One type are blessed over all the other creation. They constantly struggle to make sacrifices for the Ahlul Bayt (a.s). When they cry in Majalis for the martyrs of Karbala, they shed real tears and their grief is manifested by their striving to follow the message of Imam Hussain (a.s) in their practical life. Some excel, others are lesser, but the point is they all are on a journey and have both fear and hope as regards Allah.
THE SHIAS OF KARBALA

You can say that people like those Shias who followed Imam Hussain (a.s) and his Ahlul Bayt (a.s) to Karbala to be martyred with him are in this category. Hurr and Wahb e Kalby sacrificed the comfort of their previous beliefs and sternly moulded themselves to be able to be sacrificed for Imam Hussain (a.s). Said b. Abd Allah al-Hanafi stood in front of Imam Hussain (a.s) in Karbala as he (a.s) performed Salat al Khowf, and shielded him from arrows until he was martyred. Frankly speaking I hope and pray that if I am tested like that I am given the ability to come up to mark, inshaAllah.

68

Umro b. Janada Ansari was an 11 year old boy who asked Imam Hussain (a.s) permission to fight after his father was martyred. These are not the Ahlul Bayt (a.s), I remind you, but Shias who loved and followed Imam Hussain (a.s) the way we are expected to love and follow Imam e Zamana (ajf). They were Shias. Before their test they were just like us and we were just like them. After they passed their test it was confirmed that they were the best kind of Shias. But what about us? When the test comes and the Zahoor happens, I hope and pray that we are both among such Shias of Ahlul Bayt (a.s). FATHER: Ameen. But what of the other kind of Shias?
THE SHIAS OF KUFA

SON:

There were many Shias in the time of Imam Hussain (a.s). They were severely oppressed, like many Shias are today. They prayed for victory, like many Shias do today. They even wrote letters to the Imam (a.s) to help them, the way we write Ariza to Imam e Zamana (ajf). They promised to help the Imam (a.s) if he came to lead them out of oppression, just like Shias pledge to Imam e Zamana (ajf) today. Just take a look at the letters the Shias of Kufa wrote to Imam Hussain (a.s) and the promised

69

they made to him (a.s). From Nafsul Mahmoom, this is a series of letters sent by the Shias of Kufa to Imam Hussain (a.s), one after the other:

In the name of Allh the Beneficent, the Merciful. To Husayn bin Ali (a.s.) from Sulaymn bin Surad, Musayyab bin Najabah, Ruf'ah bin Shaddd, Habib bin Mazhir and other followers from the citizens of Kuf, the believers and Muslims. Peace be upon you! We praise and glorify Allh before you, besides Whom there is no other Deity. Now then! Praise be to Allh that He has destroyed your obstinate enemy. The one (referred to Mu'wiyah) who had leapt upon the Islmic nation and snatched their affairs into his own hands and grabbed their booty and seized control of it without their consent. He killed the virtuous and spared the wicked ones. And he scattered the wealth of Allh among the tyrants and the wealthy people, thus he was annihilated as (the people of) Samood were destroyed, and we have no Imm left with us (except you). We request you to come to us so that Allh may unite us upon the truth. No'mn bin Basheer is alone present in the palace, but we do not gather with him on the Friday (Prayers), nor do we go to him on the day of Eid. If we learn that you have proceeded to come to us, we shall drive him out from here until we pursue him to Syri, Allh willing. Allh's Peace and Blessings be upon you. Then again after a lapse of two days they sent Hni bin Hni Sabee'i and Sa'eed bin Abdullh Hanafi with a letter whose contents were as follows: In the name of Allh the Beneficent, the Merciful. To Husayn bin Ali (a.s.) from his followers, believers and Muslims. Now then! Make haste, for people are awaiting you and hold no other opinion, hence hasten, hasten. Peace be upon you.

70

Now then! The gardens have turned green and the fruits have ripened. If you desire, you may arrive here, the army is ready to defend you. And the footnote in Nafsul Mahmoom reads: for they had invited him, pledged to support him and had literally blackmailed him saying that, We have no Imm left with us (except you)
Then they betrayed him. You say that todays Shias are waiting for Imam e Zamana (ajf) anxiously. You know many of us have at some point recited Dua e Ahad where we verbally state this:

O Allah renew for him my covenant, pledge and allegiance on my neck in the morning of this day of mine and whatever days (of my life) I live. I shall never turn away from it nor let it ever vanish. O Allah appoint me among his helpers, aides, and his protectors. Those who hasten to fulfill his commands and obey his orders. Those who are his supporters and compete with each other to (fulfill) his intention and seek martyrdom in his presence.
Did not the Shias of Kufa pledge the same thing to Imam Hussain (a.s)? Did they not say to him in the letters Hasten! Hasten! like we say in Dua e Ahad Al-Ajal! Al-Ajal! Ya Sahb e Asr e waz-Zaman! FATHER: SON: Yes. And what happened after they betrayed him? If I have said that the true Shias are those who have both fear and hope in Allah, then the

71

false ones either have too much fear or too much hope. In the case of false Shias, they deceive themselves by saying Allah will forgive them, or that the Ahlul Bayt (a.s) will intercede on their behalf. On the contrary! Betraying the Imam of your time by not struggling to help him is a great sin. Especially if you have already pledged to help him and promised him that you are an army waiting for him. Look at the curses the Ahlul Bayt (a.s) invoked on the Shias of Kufa: Imam Hussain (a.s):-

O people! May you be ruined and afflicted. You enthusiastically invited us to assist you, and we hastened to do so. Then now you have unsheathed those very swords, which we had given to you, and you have kindled the fire for us which we ourselves had kindled for your enemies and ours. You have sided with your own enemies and have proceeded to fight your friends along with them, although they have not acted with justice with you nor do you expect any kindness and fairness from them. A hundred woes be upon you! You have betrayed us at the time when the swords are still in their sheaths, the hearts in peace, opinions rightly apparent and free from error. But you are like the locusts, who have hastened towards battle, and are like the moths, who fall upon one another. May you be ruined O adorers of female slaves, those you have abandoned their ranks, those who have shun the Qur'n, those who have modified the right speech, the pillars of evil, O the ones enticed by Shaitn, and the severers of Divine codes! You side with them and betray us? Yes, verily treachery and breach of trust has been your ancient custom, which had been established by

72

your fathers and the branches thereof have come forth from it. You are the filthy and unpleasant fruits of it which suffocates it's own grower and are pleasing to the oppressors. Beware! Now this illegitimate son of the illegitimate father (Ubaydullh bin Ziyd) has stationed me between unsheathing the swords or then bear humiliation, and far be it that we accept humiliation. Verily Allh, His Prophet, and the Sacred Laps which have nursed us, the modest and those who abhor disgrace, disagree to it that we bow down to the ignoble men, and they exhort us to exhaust being killed mainly in the battlefield over it. Beware I shall fight you, even when there are a few men with me, and although some have deserted me.

And this also, from Lady Zaynab bint Ali: Now then! O Kufans! O men of vaunt! O treacherous men! O retreaters! Beware! May your lament never cease and may your wailing never end. Verily your similitude is that of a woman who untwirls the threads spinned by herself. You have broken your pledges by deceit and there remains nothing in you except pretense, self-conceit, exorbitance and dishonesty. You have adopted the flatter of maids and coquettishness of the enemies as your customs. Your similitude is of that of the expanse vegetation or jewelry in the graveyard. Beware! What an evil have you brought forth for yourselves that has invited Allah's wrath upon you and you have earned a place of fury in the hereafter. You weep for my brother? Verily yes by Allah! You should weep, for you deserve it. Weep abundantly and laugh less, thus you are tainted with disgrace and trapped in contempt that you shall never be able to wash off. How will you wash off the blood of the son of the 'Seal of Prophethood (S)' and the 'Mine of Apostleship' from yourselves, who was the Master of the youth of Paradise, the General of the battlefield, and an Asylum of your group. He was a residence of repose for you and your well-being. He healed your wounds and safeguarded you against whatever evil

73

came towards you. You approached him when you quarreled among yourselves. He was your best counsel and you relied upon him, and he was a lantern of your path. Beware! What evil have you brought forth for yourselves and what load have you put upon your neck for the day of Qiyamah. Perdition! Perdition! Destruction! May your search go vain and may your hands paralyze that you have handed over the affairs of your provisions to the wind. You have occupied a place in Allah's wrath, while the stamp of contempt and misfortune is sealed upon your forehead. Woe be to you! Do you know that you have amputated the dear child of Muhammad (S)? And what pledge have you broken off from him? And what endeared family of his have you brought out onto the streets? And what veil of sanctity have you snatched away from them? And what blood have you shed from him? What an awry thing have you brought forth that it is likely that the heavens would fall down and the earth would disperse, while the mountains would crumble down as much as the fill of the earth and the heavens. The bride of your affairs is hairless, unfamiliar, indecent, blind, ugly and sullen. You wonder why the heavens rain blood. The chastisement of the hereafter is more disgraceful and there will be no helper. Let not this respite make you frivolous, for none has the power to anticipate upon Allah, the Mighty, the Sublime, and seeking vengeance does not lapse from him. No, not at all, your Lord is in ambush for you. And Imam Zayn ul Abideen (a.s): O people! Those of you, who know me, know me, while those who do not know me I am Ali, the son of Husayn, who was beheaded without any fault or error on the banks of the Euphrates. I am the son of the one whose sanctity was violated and was robbed off the blessing of his life. His wealth was plundered and his women were captivated. I am the son of the one who was killed by a collective group, while this honor (Martyrdom) is sufficient for us.

74

O people! I tell you in the name of Allah! Do you not know that you had written a letter to my father inviting him? You deceived him while pledging and promising to aid him and took the oath of allegiance to him. And in return you fought against him and abandoned him? May you be ruined by that what you have brought forth and may your ideologies be ugly! How shall you face the Prophet of Allah (S) when he shall say to you: You killed my progeny and violated my sanctity, you are not from among my nation. And Lady Umm e Kulsoom bint Ali: O Kufans! May you face evil! Why did you refrain yourselves from rendering assistance to Husayn (a.s.), why did you kill him? Why did you plunder his belongings and become its possessors? Why did you imprison his women-folk and suppress him? May you be ruined and uprooted! Woe be to you! Do you know what you have brought forth? And do you know what load of sin have you taken upon your backs? And what blood have you shed? And which women-folk have you taken as captives? And what children have to loot? And what belongings have you plundered? You have killed the best of men succeeding the Prophet (S), while mercy has departed away from your hearts. Beware, verily the Party of Allah alone shall be the successful ones and verily the party of Shaitan are the losers (Surah al-Mujadilah, 58:22 and 19). Then she retorted, You killed my brother, woe be upon you, you will surely be rewarded by the fire which burns eternally. You have shed the blood whose shedding was proclaimed to be unlawful by Allah, by the Qur'an and Muhammad (S), may you receive tidings of the fire where tomorrow you shall dwell eternally. I shall weep upon my brother all through my life, who was born as the best of creatures after the Prophet (S), the tears shall flow upon my cheeks similar to the flood and rain waters and shall never dry up.

75

And Lady Fatima Sughra bint Hussain (a.s): Praise be to Allah equivalent to the particles of sand and the weight of the heavens until the earth. We praise Him and believe in Him and rely upon Him alone, and we say that there is no other Deity except Allah. He is Unique and has no associate, while Muhammad (S) is His Slave and Messenger. And the heads of his sons have been severed innocently on the banks of the Euphrates. O Allah! I seek refuge in You if I attribute falsehood to You, or if I misconstrue against what You ordered regarding the pledge of the Vicegerency of (Imam) Ali bin Abi Talib (a.s.), whose right was usurped. He was also innocently killed in one of the houses of Allah as they killed his sons yesterday. There was present a group of men who claimed to be Muslims, may their heads not remain upon their necks, he was thirsty until his soul was taken up to You. He was of a praiseworthy character, pious lineage, and renowned qualities and acclaimed Religion and he did not fear rebuke and reproach in Your Path. O Allah! You guided him towards Your Islam since his early childhood and You praised his attributes in his adulthood. He constantly remained sincere towards You and Your Prophet and Your salutations descended unto him until You summoned him to Yourself. He was abstinent with regard to this world and was not avaricious, while he was desirous with regard to the hereafter. Then he strove in Your way, while You cherished and preferred him and guided him to the Right Path. Now then! O people of Kufa! O men of deceit, fraud and conceit! We are a family tried on your account by Allah and He has tried you on our account. He has made these trials as a felicity for us and has informed us regarding it. We are the guardians of His Knowledge and the treasure of His Intelligence. We recognize His Wisdom and are the Proof for His slaves upon His earth. He cherishes us dearly through His Kindness and has exalted us upon His creations through His Prophet. You have belied us and committed infidelity through (oppressing) us. You considered killing us to be lawful and have plundered our belongings as though we are the infidels of

76

Turkey or Kabul. It was yesterday that you killed our grandfather and your swords spits the blood of us the family (of Prophet). You have cooled your eyes due to an ancient enmity (which you bear towards us) and rejoice upon the insolence towards Allah and deceit that you bring forth. Do not rejoice upon shedding our blood and plundering our belongings, for whatever has reached us through this great affliction and the immense slaughter is in conformity to this verse of the Qur'an: Vie in hastening to forgiveness from your Lord and to a garden whose extent is like the extent of the heaven and the earth, prepared for those who believe in Allah and His Messengers; that is the Grace of Allah, He bestows it upon whomsoever He wills; and Allah is the Lord of Mighty Grace. Befalls not any disaster in the earth or in your own selves save it is in a Book, ere We cause it to be verily that is easy for Allah. (Surah al-Hadeed, 57: 21-22). May you be expelled, look forward towards the wrath which will soon descend upon you. The vengeance of the heavens will descend upon you successively and erode, or He (Allah) should involve you in confusion (in) party (dissentions) and make some of you taste the fighting of the other. (Surah alAn`aam, 6:65). Then due to the oppression that you have committed upon us, you shall remain everlasting in the fierce wrath in Qiyamah. Beware! Curse of Allah upon the oppressors! Woe be to you! Do you know and do you understand? With what hands did you aim the lances at us? With what souls did you come to fight us? With what feet did you proceed for a combat with us? Your hearts have hardened, your livers have turned into iron, and your hearts have become blind, while your ears and eyes have been sealed. Shaitan has enticed you and has enjoined you while he has blinded your eyes and you shall never find guidance. May you be ruined O Kufans! How much blood of the Prophet of Allah (S) is upon you? And what measure (of vengeance) is upon your neck? Then you committed treachery with his (the Prophet's) brother Ali bin Abi Talib (a.s.) as also his sons, the progeny of the Prophet, and who were among the

chaste and virtuous. And one of you said arrogantly: It is we who killed Ali and his sons, with Indian swords and lances, and we captivated their women-folk similar to the Turkish captives, and we battled with him and what a battle. Mud in the mouth of the one who said it! You pride upon the murder of the ones whom Allah has praised and purified and has kept away all filth away from them? Hold your breadth! Then sit down as a dog sits down upon the tip of its tail, as your father sat. Every man shall reap what he sends forth. Woe be to you! You envied us due to the grace that Allah bestowed upon us. What is our fault in it if our river is full of abundant water, while the water of your river has dried up, that cannot even hide a worm? That is the grace of Allah, He bestows it upon whomsoever He wills, and Allah is the Lord of Mighty Grace. (Surah al-Hadeed, 57:21). Unto whomsoever Allah gives not light, there is not for him anything of light. (Surah an-Noor, 24:40). Even the women of Kufa were not spared the reproaches of the Ahlul Bayt (a.s)
FATHER: InshaAllah we will prove more faithful to Imam e Zamana (ajf) than the Shias of Kufaproved to Imam Hussain (a.s). Yet history repeats itself. Remember what happened when the Shias of Kufa asked Imam Hussain (a.s) for help? What did Imam Hussain (a.s) do then? He sent Muslim ibn Aqeel (a.s) there. Read further from Nafsul Mahmoom: As is written in Murujuz Zahab, that he (Muslim) entered Kuf on the fifth of the month of Shawwal. According to the narration of Tabari, he resided at the house of Mukhtr bin Abi Ubydah and the Shi'h came to visit him. Then when a group of people gathered, he read the letter of Imm Husayn (a.s.) to them,

hearing which they started weeping. Then bis bin Abi Shabeeb Shakiri arose and after Praising and Glorifying Allh said, Now then! I do not speak for the people, nor am I aware as to what is concealed in their hearts, and thus I do not want to deceive you. By Allh! I only say that which is in my heart. By Allh! I shall respond to you whenever you call out, and shall fight your enemies by your side. And in your presence I shall strike them with the sword until I meet Allh, and I do not intend anything except Allh's favor (in lieu of all this). Then Habib bin Mazhir Faq'asi stood up and said, May Allh's blessings be upon you! You have revealed concisely whatever you had in your mind. I swear by Allh, besides Whom there is no other Deity, that I too am of the same belief as of this man (referring to bis who preceded him), and then he repeated what bis had said. Hajjj bin Ali says that I asked Muhammad bin Bashr that, Did you not reply to him (Muslim)? He replied, I desired that Allh would grant success and esteem to my friends, but I did not appreciate being killed nor did I like to utter a lie. (Irshd) Eighteen thousand men swore the oath of allegiance to Muslim and hence he wrote to Imm Husayn (a.s.) informing him about their oath, and invited him to come to Kuf. This letter was written by Muslim some twenty seven days before his martyrdom. The Shi'h visited Muslim quite frequently and the place of his whereabouts became known.

FATHER:

What is your point?

HISTORY IS REPEATING ITSELF

SON:

Father! Allah does not change His Sunnat!

HADEETH PREDICTED UMMAH WOULD BEHAVE LIKE BANI ISRAEL

If in Musas (a.s) absence the people rejected Haroon (a.s) and took the Calf as leader at the orders of Samiri, then in the

79

Prophets (s.a.w.w) absence the people rejected Ali (a.s) and took Abu Bakr as leader at the orders of Umar.

HADEETH PREDICTED THAT THE RISING IMAM WOULD SEND A MESSENGER TO UNITE THE PEOPLE

If Hussain (a.s), the Imam of that time, listened to the Shias of Kufa and sent a man, Muslim bin Aqeel (a.s), to gather and ready them for his arrival, then Imam e Zamana (ajf), the Imam of our time, listens to us and sends a man, Ahmad al-Hassan (a.s), to gather and ready us for his arrival. If the majority of Shias, after pledging to Imam Hussain (a.s) that they will help him go on to break their trust, then will it be different for Imam e Zamana (ajf)? If the children of Muslim bin Aqeel (a.s) were slaughtered by the enemy, then will the children of Yamani (a.s) not be betrayed similarly? Do you think these matters are not prophesied in Hadeeth and examples are not there to take lesson from? The Ahluss Sunnah have the Hadeeth where the Prophet (s.a.w.w) says Ali (a.s) is like Haroon (a.s), and also the Hadeeth that his Ummah will follow the example of the Jews, yet they do not ask and cannot identify who is the Calf and who is Samiri.

80

But what of the Shias?

HADEETH PREDICT SHIAS IN THE LAST AGE WOULD BEHAVE LIKE SAMOOD AND REJECT THE SHE CAMEL

The Hadeeth say that the Shias in the later age will be like the tribe of Samood, who will reject the Sign of Allah that is the shecamel. [41.17] And as to Samood, We showed them the right way, but they chose error above guidance, so there overtook them the scourge of an abasing chastisement for what they earned. [51.43] And in Samood: When it was said to them: Enjoy yourselves for a while. [51.44] But they revolted against the commandment of their Lord, so the rumbling overtook them while they saw. [51.45] So they were not able to rise up, nor could they defend themselves [7.73] And to Samood (We sent) their brother Salih. He said: O my people! serve Allah, you have no god other than Him; clear proof indeed has come to you from your Lord; this is (as) Allah's she-camel for you-- a sign, therefore leave her alone to pasture on Allah's earth, and do not touch her with any harm, otherwise painful chastisement will overtake you Do you know who is Samood according to Hadeeth?
FATHER: Who?

81

SON:

We have the Hadeeth from Taweel ul Ayaat from Imam Jafar Sadiq (a.s): Samood refers to a group of Shia who will not pay heed/did injustice to the She camel and elected their own leaders. And also: Imam Jafar Sadiq (a.s) said, "The Samood is a group from amongst the Shia for whom Allah says, "As for the people of Samood We guided them but they preferred blindness to guidance; so the torment of a humiliating chastisement seized them" (41:17). This refers to the "torment" of the sword when al Mahdi (ajf) reappears." WHO IS THE SHE CAMEL?

FATHER: SON:

But if the Shias are Samood, then who is the she-camel, who they killed? Can you not guess?
[91.14] But they (Samood) called him a liar and slaughtered her, therefore their Lord crushed them for their sin and levelled them (with the ground).

And most interestingly:

[54.27] Surely We are going to send the she-camel as a trial for them; therefore watch them and have patience. FATHER: SON: The Quran calls this a future occurrence. Yes. And it prophecies what the Shias will do to this she-camel:

82

[7.77] So they slew the she-camel and revolted against their Lord's commandment, and they said: O Salih! bring us what you threatened us with, if you are one of the apostles. FATHER: SON: Who is this she-camel? The Right Hand of whoever is the Prophet, or Leader (or in other words the Salih) of that time. In one Hadeeth it refers to Imam Ali (a.s):The Commander of the Faithful [ALl (A.S.)] said he (the Prophet) (s.a.w.w) wept. Ali (a.s.) asked, "O' the Messenger of Allah! What makes you weep?" He (s.a.w.w) replied, "O' Ali (A.S.) I weep for what they will do with you in this month. As if I am with you, and you are offering prayers to your Lord, when the worst of the foregone, and those who are yet to come, a brother of the person who slew the camel of Samood has come and gives you a (sword) blow on your head, which reddens your beard."
It is one of the many hidden meanings of the She Camel. Another hidden meaning is the Sign Allah (swt) sent to Imam e Zamana (ajf), and in that will lie the real test of Samood. FATHER: In order for me to believe that, I need to see evidence that the Prophet Salih (a.s) is a symbol of Imam e Zamana (ajf). Only then will I believe that the She Camel is a symbol of the Yamani. Lets open Kamaluddin by Shaykh Sadooq, The Occultation (Ghaiba) of Prophet Salih (a.s)

SON:

83 - Narrated to us Muhammad bin Hasan bin Ahmad bin Walid (r.a.) that he said: Narrated to us Muhammad bin Hasan asSaffar; and Saad bin Abdullah; and Abdullah bin Jafar alHimyari that they said: Narrated to us Muhammad bin Husain Ibne Abil Khattab, from Ali bin Asbat, from Saif bin Amirah from Zaid Shahham from Abi Abdullah as that he said: Salih (a.s.) remained in occultation from his community for a period of time: The day he disappeared from them he was of middle age, wide belly, elegant body, thick beard, fair complexioned and medium height. When he returned to his people, they did not recognize him from his face. And he found them divided into three groups: A group had denied him and they were not prepared to retract their denial. Another group was of those who had doubts about him. The third group was firm in its faith. So he addressed the group of doubters and said: I am Salih. They denied and chided him and snubbed him saying: May Allah become aloof from you, Salih was indeed having a different appearance. The Imam says: Then Salih went to the deniers and they paid no heed to his words and expressed a deep hatred for him. After that he went to the third group which was a group of faithful believers and told them that he was Salih. They said: Please tell us something through which we may not have any doubt about you. We have no doubt that Allah, the Mighty and the High, Who is the Creator can change the appearance of anyone He wants. We had been informed about it and we have researched and studied the signs and portents regarding the reappearance of the Qaim. And it would be correct when he brings the news from the heavens. Salih said: I am that same Salih who brought the shecamel by miracle. They said: You are right. It is the same point we argued on. But

84 tell us what its sign was? An alternate day was reserved for this she-camel to drink from the stream and alternate for you. We have brought faith on Allah and also believed on whatever you have brought. At that time Allah, the Mighty and the High said: Do you know that Salih is sent by his Lord? And the believers and people of faith said: Surely we are believers in what he has been sent with. And the arrogant ones those who doubted him said: Surely we are deniers of what you believe in. The narrator asked: Was there among them a scholar and who knew Salih? Imam replied: The Almighty Allah is more equitable that He should leave the earth without a scholar that guides the people to Allah. This community passed seven days in this manner after the reappearance and advent of Salih as they had no recognition of a leader or Imam for themselves. But in spite of this they had something from divine religion and they had remained firm on that. Their beliefs were same. And when Salih reappeared they gathered around him. And there is no doubt that the simile of Qaim (a.s.) is like that of Salih.

FATHER:

So if Samood is a group of the Shia, and Salih (a.s) is Imam e Zamana (ajf), then the she-camel must be Yamani.

85

THE MAJORITY ALWAYS UNITES ON THE WRONG THING FATHER: SON: But why is that the majority do not believe it? Even in utopian societies like that of Sulaiman (a.s) and Dawood (a.s) and in the time of Adam (a.s) where only they, the true Muslims, were the leaders, and in fact the khalifa on Earth, there were still many who rejected them. In fact, it is written in the Quran that the people of Sulaiman (a.s) were destroed for their sins. In the narrations it is written that although Imam e Zamana (ajf) will fill the world with justice, there will still be non-Muslims from whom he will collect Jizya. So no matter how many miracles and signs Allah sends, people reject them. This is why the consequences are so terrible that is says in the Quran:

86

[50.30] On the day that We will say to hell: Are you filled up? And it will say: Are there any more? FATHER: But there must have been some peoples who accepted their Prophet? It says in Surah YaSeen: [36.30] Alas for the servants! there comes not to them an apostle but they mock at him. And that there was never a town of people who believed all together besides the people of Prophet Yunus (a.s):[10.98] And wherefore was there not a town which shouldbelieve so that their belief should have profited them but the people of Yunus? When they believed, We removed from them the chastisement of disgrace in this world's life and We gave them provision till a time.

FATHER: SON:

Does the Quran say anything about the majority? We can do a Search of the Quran and find out outHere:-

[6.116] And if you obey most of those in the earth, they will lead you astray from Allah's way; they follow but conjecture and they only lie.
[7.102] And We did not find in most of them any (faithfulness to) covenant, and We found most of them to be certainly transgressors. [10.92] But We will this day deliver you with your body that you may be a sign to those after you, and most surely the majority of the people are heedless to Our communications.

87

[2.100] What! whenever they make a covenant, a party of them cast it aside? Nay, most of them do not believe. [3.110 and most of them are transgressors. [5.59] and that most of you are transgressors?

[5.81] most of them are transgressors. [5.103] and most of them do not understand. [6.37] but most of them do not know. [6.111] And even if We had sent down to them the angels and the dead had spoken to them and We had brought together all things before them, they would not believe unless Allah pleases, but most of them are ignorant. [6.116] And if you obey most of those in the earth, they will lead you astray from Allah's way; they follow but conjecture and they only lie. [7.17] and Thou shalt not find most of them thankful. [7.131] but most of them do not know. [8.34] but most of them do not know [9.8] and most of them are transgressors. [10.36] And most of them do not follow (anything) but conjecture; surely conjecture will not avail aught against the truth; surely Allah is cognizant of what they do. [10.55] but most of them do not know. [10.60] but most of them do not give thanks. [16.75] most of them do not know. [16.83] and most of them are ungrateful.

88

[16.101] Nay, most of them do not know. [21.24] . Nay! most of them do not know the truth, so they turn aside. [23.70] Or do they say: There is madness in him? Nay! he has brought them the truth, and most of them are averse from the truth. [25.44] Or do you think that most of them do hear or understand? They are nothing but as cattle; nay, they are straying farther off from the path. [26.8] Most surely there is a sign in that, but most of them will not believe. [26.67] Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. [26.103] Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. [26.121] Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. [26.139] So they gave him the lie, then We destroyed them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. [26.158] So the punishment overtook them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. [26.174] Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. [26.190] Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. [26.223] They incline their ears, and most of them are liars. [27.61] Or, Who made the earth a restingplace, and made in it rivers, and raised on it mountains and placed between the two seas a barrier. Is there a god with Allah? Nay! most of them do not know! [27.73] And surely your Lord is the Lord of grace to men, but most of them are not grateful. [28.13] but most of them do not know. [28.57] but most of them do not know. [29.63] Nay, most of them do not understand.

89

[30.8And most surely most of the people are deniers of the meeting of their Lord. [30.42] most of them were polytheists. [31.25] nay! most of them do not know. [34.41] they worshipped the jinn; most of them were believers in them. [36.7] Certainly the word has proved true of most of them, so they do not believe. [37.71] And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, [38.24] and most surely most of the partners act wrongfully towards one another, save those who believe and do good, and very few are they; [39.29] Nay! most of them do not know. [39.49] Nay, it is a trial, but most of them do not know. [41.4] A herald of good news and a warner, but most of them turn aside so they hear not. [43.78] but most of you are averse to the truth. [44.39] but most of them do not know. [49.4] surely most of them do not understand. [52.47] but most of them do not know. [57.16] and most of them are transgressors. [57.26] and most of them are transgressors. [57.27] andmost of them are transgressors.

FATHER:

Thats conclusive that the majority opinion is wrong, according to the Quran.

90

EVEN AFTER THE PLEDGE A PERSON MAY GET MISGUIDED IF CARELESS FATHER: SON: FATHER: SON: I suppose you feel happy that you have accepted the Pledge? Yes, extremely. It was a big blessing from Allah and I can never thank Him enough. So now you might feel like this is your short cut and now you dont need to struggle. Far from it. This is not a passive game, but an dynamic ongoing struggle. Every day new trials and challenges are put in front of the Ansar. It feels like Allah is personally training us so our characters develop. We must challenge the system whenever we can, and proclaim like the Prophet Ibrahim (a.s) did to the system he was living in: [60.4] Indeed, there is for you a good example in Ibrahim and those with him when they said to their people: Surely we are clear of you and of what you serve besides Allah; we declare ourselves to be clear of you, and enmity and hatred have appeared between us and you forever until you believe in Allah

91

alone-- but not in what Ibrahim said to his father: I would certainly ask forgiveness for you, and I do not control for you aught from Allah-- Our Lord! on Thee do we rely, and to Thee do we turn, and to Thee is the eventual coming:

FATHER: SON:

But now that you have believed, what danger do you think there is? Qaroon was of the people who believed with Prophet Musa (a.s) and escaped Firon. But what happened to him: [28.76] Surely Qaroun was of the people of Musa, but he rebelled against them And then the story of Talut (a.s), the King. First the people who believed in Prophet Dawood (a.s) said they didnt want him. Then when they accepted him, they disobeyed him and drank from the river. The Quran says that after this they were not of him. Then the Quran says after that whoever was left, i.e. Those who believed with him said we have no power when facing Jalut. Then the Quran says that the real victorious people, Those who were sure said and did the right thing. Read: [2.246] Have you not considered the chiefs of the children of Israel after Musa, when they said to a prophet of theirs: Raise up for us a king, (that) we may fight in the way of Allah. He said: May it not be that you would not fight if fighting is ordained for you? They said: And what

92

reason have we that we should not fight in the way of Allah, and we have indeed been compelled to abandon our homes and our children. He said: Surely Allah has chosen him in preference to you, and He has increased him abundantly in knowledge and physique, and Allah grants His kingdom to whom He pleases, and Allah is Amplegiving, Knowing. [2.248] And the prophet said to them: Surely the sign of His kingdom is, that there shall come to you the chest in which there is tranquillity from your Lord and residue of the relics of what the children of Musa and the children of Haroun have left, the angels bearing it; most surely there is a sign in this for those who believe. [2.249] So when Talut departed with the forces, he said: Surely Allah will try you with a river; whoever then drinks from it, he is not of me, and whoever does not taste of it, he is surely of me, except he who takes with his hand as much of it as fills the hand; but with the exception of a few of them they drank from it. So when he had crossed it, he and those who believed with him, they said: We have today no power against Jalut and his forces. Those who were sure that they would meet their Lord said: How often has a small party vanquished a numerous host by Allah's permission, and Allah is with the patient. [2.250] And when they went out against Jalut and his forces they said: Our Lord, pour down upon us patience, and make our steps firm and assist us against the unbelieving people. [2.251] So they put them to flight by Allah's permission. And Dawood slew Jalut, and Allah gave him kingdom and wisdom, and taught him of what He pleased. And were it not for Allah's repelling some men with

93

others, the earth would certainly be in a state of disorder; but Allah is Gracious to the creatures.

FATHER:

But is there anything to indicate a similar happening with followers of Imam e Zamana (ajf)? A hadith from al-Kafi states that in the Last Age there will be few believers. It will be as though a man sieves wheat and discovers a small amount of good grain. Then he puts it away and the wheat gets infested with insects, so he sieves it again. Again he puts it away but it becomes infested so he sieves it again, resulting in an extremely tiny amount of healthy grains. May Allah preserve us all.

SON:

FATHER:

94

I HAVE NEVER SEEN HIM

FATHER: SON:

Ive never seen him. How can I witness his personality? Ask Allah to show you. Ask Imam e Zamana (ajf) to show you. Or ask those who have witnessed his behavior. The Prophet (s.a.w.w) did the sensible thing. He waited for years until people knew he was Sadiq and Ameen and then announced his mission. I see you havent read any literature on the matter at all. Our condition, not seeing him, is like that of Owais ibn Qarni. He could have done the easy thing and made excuses like you are. He didnt even have internet. But SubhanAllah at his perception that he realized the truth and was saved from Hell.

FATHER:

SON:

95

And lets not forget I have never seen him, like yourself. Yet I have seen him, if you recall, in the dream which Allah showed me. But that can only happen if you ask.

PLEDGING ALLEGIANCE TO THE YAMANI MUST BE DONE BEFORE THE KILLING OF SUFYANI FATHER: Why cant we join the Yamani after he kills the Sufyani? After all, that would be 100% conclusive. Do you think Allah was pleased with the rejectors of Talut (a.s) after Dawood (a.s) had killed Jalut? Thats not the same thing. The thing you are suggesting we do is what Bani Israel did in the following verse. [5.23] Two men of those who feared, upon both of whom Allah had bestowed a favor, said: Enter upon them by the gate, for when you have entered it you shall surely be victorious, and on Allah should you rely if you are believers. [5.24] They said: O Musa! we shall never enter it so long as they are in it; go therefore you and your Lord, then fight you both surely we will here sit down.

SON:

FATHER: SON:

96

Also: [33.18] Allah knows indeed those among you who hinder others and those who say to their brethren: Come to us; and they come not to the fight but a little. I see you do not fear their wrath sufficiently. But never mind, there are Hadeeth on this matter. First of all, Imam Baqir (a.s) said we must not turn away from the banner. FATHER: I know Imam Baqir (a.s) has said it but I do not understand why turning away from him should lead to Hell. Although I already told you about the army of Usama, and about Talut (a.s) and about Yamani (a.s) leading towards our possessor Imam e Zamana (ajf), I will tell you something else. The Yamani is a Sign of Allah. He is mentioned in the Will, and is definitely someone everyone is waiting for. And it is written about the Signs of Allah: [2.39] And (as to) those who disbelieve in and reject My Signs, they are the inmates of the fire, in it they shall abide So Imam Baqirs (a.s) Hadeeth makes perfect sense. FATHER: SON: But we could wait for him to kill Sufyani. No. That is forbidden. [6.158] They do not wait aught but that the angels should come to them, or that your Lord should come, or that some of the signs

SON:

97

of your Lord should come. On the day when some of the signs of your Lord shall come, its faith shall not profit a soul which did not believe before, or earn good through its faith. Say: Wait; we too are waiting. FATHER: SON: But we dont know right now so Allah will forgive. You mean:[6.54] if any one of you does evil in ignorance, then turns after that and acts aright, then He is Forgiving, Merciful. But what you are suggesting is that one knows that there is a chance this person is Yamani, and one knows that there is this Hadeeth by Imam Baqir (a.s) that whoever turns away will be in Hell, and one knows that there is no evidence against him except for hatred from powerful people, which in itself is evidence for him. So this is not evil in ignorance. You actually know so much about the matter, that if Allah were bring you before Him right now and ask you why you rejected his Sign, his servant, and the man he appointed as your leader under Imam e Zamana (ajf), you will not have a leg to stand on. It may be that what is in the following verse may be said to you: [6.5] So they have indeed rejected the truth when it came to them; therefore the truth of what they mocked at will shine upon them. Or this may be said to you: [23.68] Is it then that they do not ponder over what is said, or is it that there has come to them that which did not come to their fathers of old? [23.69] Or is it that they have not recognized their Messenger, so

98

that they deny him? [23.70] Or do they say: There is madness in him? Nay! he has brought them the truth, and most of them are averse from the truth. [23.71] And should the truth follow their low desires, surely the heavens and the earth and all those who are therein would have perished. Nay! We have brought to them their reminder, but from their reminder they turn aside. [23.72] Or is it that you ask them a recompense? But the recompense of your Lord is best, and He is the best of those who provide sustenance. [23.73] And most surely you invite them to a right way. And then you will say, that yes, you did not ponder, and no, there was no new revelation to cancel out the Will of the Prophet (s.a.w.w), and yes, you did acknowledge that there was no concrete evidence against Yamani (a.s), and, no, you did not think him mad. And no, no recompense was asked from you, it was only submission to Allah (swt) that was required, but you felt scared of it, and the other wrong paths were easier to travel on. And that even though you reject the Sign of Allah, you thought you were so special Allah will overlook it. And your son invited you to the right way, but you could not tolerate it. And that Sunnis converted and Christians converted and Jews converted but you, born and raised in a Shia household and responsible for the rearing of Shia childrenyou remained lazy and ignorant. You chose to be tempted and to wait and to doubt like those in Surah Hadeed: [57.13] On the day when the hypocritical men and the hypocritical women will say to those who believe: Wait for us, that we may have light from your light; it shall be said: Turn back

99

and seek a light. Then separation would be brought about between them, with a wall having a door in it; (as for) the inside of it, there shall be mercy in it, and (as for) the outside of it, before it there shall be punishment. [57.14] They will cry out to them: Were we not with you? They shall say: Yea! but you caused yourselves to fall into temptation, and you waited and doubted, and vain desires deceived you till the threatened punishment of Allah came, while the archdeceiver deceived you about Allah. [57.15] So today ransom shall not be accepted from you nor from those who disbelieved; your abode is the fire; it is your friend and evil is the resort. If I was like you, a man with money and property, and if I doubted the Yamani (a.s), I would have bought the ticket and started travelling to find Ahmad al-Hassan (a.s) so I could properly evaluate him. Instead, you thought better to sit comfortably at home, only straining yourself for worldly things, using guesswork to put slanders on the son of Imam e Zamana (ajf). Even a matter like your wife and children accepting him was considered a thing of ridicule. No wonder you didnt receive an answer. Man only gets what he strives for. I could not strive physically, so I strove spiritually until Allah brought Yamani to me in my dreams, and Imam e Zamana (ajf) supported me in my dreams, and the Prophet (s.a.w.w) visited me in my dreams, until my heart was at peace. Alhamdolillah, is the reward of goodness anything but goodness? And can any other good action a person does compare to the action of accepting the Signs of Allah? And can any good action help a person after he has rejected the Signs of Allah? Maybe you did some good things which is why Allah thought that a witness to the truth from among you

should invite you to the truth, namely me, but still you were averse, because the unpopular opinion is the risky one for the materialistic person. And your passive, non-working attitude in this regard, made you stuck. Because according to the Imams (a.s), the Yamani (a.s) can only be recognized by peacefulness, dignity, knowledge and the Will.

AlHarth ibn Al-Mugheera he said to Abi Abdulla(Imam Jaafer) a.s:"How do we know about Saaheb Al-Amr(companion of the order)? he said:"peacefulness,dignity,knowledge, and the will." Basa'er Al-Darajat Muhammad ibn Al-Hassan Al-Safar p.509, Al-Kafi v.1 p.378, Bihar Al-Anwar v.62 p.217
And he called you but you did not try and find him to test whether he had any of these things. And when witnesses tell you that he possesses these things you say they are lying or fabricating it. How do you know it is falsehood? Did you find him and ask him? Imams (a.s) would answer any Kafir and Munafiq the questions, as long as they went to him. Did you go to him? Instead you slandered him and swore against him, using filthy words, like the Jews of Banu Qurayza did against Imam Ali (a.s). You accused him of disuniting the Shias, the Samood of today, like Ubaydillah ibn Zyad accused Muslim bin Aqeel (a.s) in the following words from Nafsul Mahmoom: O son of Aqeel! The people were unified and in accordance with one another, but you came and divided them and created discord.

No, there is nothing but guesswork and conjecture against him and we know that. So this is not evil in ignorance, but a behavior similar to the brothers of Yusuf (a.s) when they believed that their father, Yaqub (a.s), was chosen by Allah, but were blinded through envy from the position of Yusuf (a.s), so they said: [12.9] Slay Yusuf or cast him (forth) into some land, so that your father's regard may be exclusively for you, and after that you may be a righteous people. So saying that we may be a righteous people after he kills the Sufyani is not good enough. The Yamani (a.s) is a Sign of Allah, and the Quran says about those who reject the Signs: [10.95] And you should not be of those who reject the Signs of Allah, (for) then you should be one of the losers. And the anger at the Signs of Allah is a characteristic of the doomed: [22.72] And when Our clear Signs are recited to them you will find denial on the faces of those who disbelieve; they almost spring upon those who recite to them Our Signs. Say: Shall I inform you of what is worse than this? The fire; Allah has promised it to those who disbelieve; and how evil the resort! And the clock is ticking. As each person makes his or her decision, time for you to wait is getting shorter and shorter. Until[12.110] Until when the messengers despaired and the people became sure that they were indeed told a lie, Our help came to them and whom

We pleased was delivered; and Our punishment is not averted from the guilty people.

SON: FATHER: SON:

Well, Father, have you come to a decision? I still feel as though I need more time May Allah, Subhana wa Taala, help you.
