GAME

2012 SCHEDULE
Date

Reigning Champions: The Will County CrackerJacks won the Midwest Collegiate League title in its inaugural season of play. They are looking to repeat the success they had last season with the 27-player 2012 roster. Major Flavor: Former Chicago Cubs outfielder Bobby Dernier makes his debut as CrackerJacks Associate Head Coach tonight. Dernier won the National League Gold Glove Award in 1984 with the Cubs and played in the 1983 World Series with the Philadelphia Phillies. Great Returns: Vern Hasty returns to manage the CrackerJacks in 2012 after winning the MCL Manager of the Year Award in 2011. One other familiar face will be with the CrackerJacks, as outfielder and first baseman Scott Hull returns. During the 2011 playoffs, Hull played in all five games and hit .318 with 5 RBIs (second on the team). Meet in Illinois: The 2012 CrackerJacks feature players from 13 different states from all across the United States, including California, Texas, Connecticut and Florida, and one player from Puerto Rico. Last season, the team featured players from eight different states. Southern Southpaw: The University of North Carolina-Ashevilles Adam Spracklin will toe the rubber for the Will County CrackerJacks tonight. Matt Borens was scheduled to start Opening Day at Southland yesterday but the game was postponed due to poor field conditions. Hasty has decided to stick with Spracklin, the original June 2 starter, for tonights game. Spracklin, a native of Farmington, Conn., appeared in 20 games for UNC-Asheville in 2012 and threw 32.1 innings. The lefty picked up two wins and 20 strikeouts as well. Hound Dogs: The DuPage Hounds enter todays game with a 1-0 record. They defeated the Northwest Indiana Oilmen 7-4 yesterday in Lisle, Ill.
