Module 1: Networking Basics Objective This module provides the fundamental knowledge required to understand core Local Area Networking concepts. Prerequisites: None Course Outline Introduction to Networking OSI Model Networking Fundamentals and Networking Media Cabling LANs and WANs Ethernet Fundamentals Ethernet Switching TCP/IP Protocol Suite and IP Addressing Routing Fundamentals and Subnets TCP/IP Transport and Application Layer Skills Transfer Objectives Having successfully completed this course, you will have learnt how to: Build a small LAN using network devices Configure networking in a small LAN Build networking cables Manipulate IP Addresses Module 2: Routers and Routing Basics Objective This module provides the fundamental knowledge and skills required to understand and configure Routers. Prerequisites: Module 1 Course Outline WANs and Routers Introduction to Router Configuring a Router Managing Cisco IOS Software Routing and Routing Protocols Distance Vector Routing Protocols TCP/IP Suite Error and Control Messages Basic Router Troubleshooting Access Control Lists (ACLs) Skills Transfer Objectives Having successfully completed this course, you will have learnt how to: Configure a basic router Create a subnetted IP Addressing scheme Implement security on router interfaces Module 3: Switching Basics and Intermediate Routing Objective This module provides the fundamental knowledge and skills required to understand and configure basic switching and more advanced routing. Prerequisites: Modules 1 & 2 Course Outline Introduction to Classless Routing Single-Area OSPF EIGRP Switching Concepts Switches and Switch Configuration Spanning Tree Protocol Virtual LANs VLAN Trucking Protocol Skills Transfer Objectives Having successfully completed this course, you will have learnt how to: Configure a basic VLAN Understand the workings of STP and Trucking Configure OSPF and EIGRP on a router Configure standard and extended Access Control Lists on a router. Module 4: WAN Technologies Objective This module focuses on advanced IP addressing techniques using Network Address Translation (NAT), Port Address Translation (PAT) and DHCP. This module provides the fundamental knowledge and skills required to understand and configure remote access routers. Prerequisites: Modules 1, 2 and 3
