Ultradur
Ultradur is BASFs trade name for its line of partially crystalline saturated polyesters. This line is based on polybutylene terephthalate and is employed in applications demanding a high performance level such as load bearing parts in different industrial sectors. Ultradur is outstanding for its high rigidity and strength, very good dimensional stability, low water absorption and high resistance to many chemicals. Moreover, Ultradur exhibits exceptional resistance to weathering and excellent heat aging behavior.
Unreinforced grades
B 2550
Very free-flowing grade for coating paper and board with high heat resistance, for example for packaging of frozen goods and ready-prepared meals. Also suitable for injection-molding applications, where good flow properties are important. Medium-viscosity grade for medical packaging and thin profiles and pipes. Injection-molding grade for the manufacture of industrial functional parts. High-viscosity grades for the extrusion of loose buffer tubes for optical fibers, semi-finished products for machining, profiles and pipes.

Low-warpage, free-flowing injection-molding grades with very good processing capabilities, containing 14 - 30 % of glass fibers for industrial parts with high dimensional stability, for example internal components for vehicles, plug connectors and housings. Low-warpage, free-flowing injection-molding grades containing 10 - 30 % of glass fibers for industrial parts with high dimensional stability, for example plug connectors, housings and sunroof frames. Injection-molding grades containing 10 - 50 % of glass fibers, for industrial parts, rigid, tough and dimensionally stable, for example for program switches, thermostat parts, small-motor housings for vehicles, headlamp frames, cams, automotive windscreen wiper arms, PCBs, housings, consoles, contact mounts and covers. Injection-molding grades containing 10 - 50 % of glass fibers, for industrial parts with excellent surface quality, for example external door handles in vehicles, visible sunroof frames, oven door handles, toaster casings, external mirrors, rear screen wiper arms in vehicles and sunroof wind deflectors.

B 4406 unreinforced / G2 / G4 / G6 FRee B 4440 G5
Flame-retardant injection-molding grades, unreinforced or with 10 % to 30 % glass fibers, for parts requiring enhanced fire resistance, e. g. plug-and-socket connectors, housings, coil formers and lighting components. Injection-molding grade with 25 % glass fibers for parts requiring enhanced fire resistance as well as increased tracking resistance (e. g. housings for electronics, plug-and-socket connectors, power switches), halogen- and antimonyfree. Injection-molding grade with 25 % glass fibers for parts requiring enhanced fire resistance as well as increased tracking resistance (e. g. housings for electronics, plug-and-socket connectors, power switches), halogen- and antimonyfree.

Nomenclature
Ultradur commercial grades are designated by either the letter B or S, followed by a four-digit number. Ultradur B = PBT or PBT + PET Ultradur S = PBT + ASA The letter behind the number denotes reinforcement or filler materials: G = glass fibers K = glass beads M = minerals The number after this denotes the approximate amount of additive, e. g.: 2 4 6 10 = 10 parts by weight = 20 parts by weight = 30 parts by weight = 50 parts by weight
Suffices show particular properties: FC = suitable for applications with food contact in accordance with a special certification High Speed = particularly high flowability HR = higher hydrolysis resistance LS = can be marked with specific lasers LT = can be radiographed with specific lasers Colors are identified by the code for the grade in question, followed by the name of the color and a three- to five digit color number. Examples: Ultradur B 4500 nature Ultradur B 4520 black 110 Ultradur B 4040 G10 High Speed black 15029 Ultradur B 4300 G4 black 5110 Ultradur B 4300 G6 uncolored Ultradur S 4090 G4 LS High Speed black 15077
