Hello, everybody! Its Mark Crilley. Im back with another how-to-draw tutorial. Ive had a lot of people asking for a video about how to get the manga head shape drawn correctly and, having done that, where to place the facial features: the eyesyou knowgetting the nose, the mouth in the right place. So thats where this is going to be focusing on. And be warned, if you want to get lines in the right place the trick to doing that is guidelines. I know a lot of people hate to do that: guidelines. And if you do hate guidelines, youre going to hate this video, but for the rest of youI must jump in here and start drawing some guidelines for getting the head shape right. And what Im doing here is drawing a circlea little more like an oval, really, than a circle. Its not a perfect circlelets put it that way. And its just a little wider from side to side than from top to bottom. Now this lower section of it right down here is eventually going to get erasedbut lets just leave this nowin fact, most of it gets erased. Heres maybe the trickiest part of getting the head shape right. Youve got this line over here, this sort of curved line on the circle. When you come down just a little past the curve, drop a line straight down here. OK? And then curve kind of following that first circular line you did. But youre coming to a gentle kind of a point down here. And then you start to loop back up. Im not really going to bother to finish that line cause it doesnt really get finished in the final drawing. And having done that, lets go ahead and get some other lines in here. Im going to make one straight line that goes right across the middle roughly. And then make another line that is going right across the middle from top to bottom. OK? From there Im going to make another line thats a little closefairly close to this one, maybe one fourth of that distance from here to here.

Un montn de gente me ha pedido un vdeo sobre cmo conseguir la forma de la cabeza manga dibujada correctamente y, una vez hecho eso, dnde situar los rasgos faciales: los ojos, poner la nariz, la boca en el lugar correcto. As que ah es donde esto se va a concentrar. Y quedan avisados, si quieren poner las lneas en el lugar correcto, el truco para hacer eso son las pautas. S que un montn de gente odia hacer eso: pautas. Y si no soportan las pautas, no van a soportar este vdeo, pero para los dems debo lanzarme aqu y empezar a dibujar unas pautas para que la forma de la cabeza salga bien. Lo que estoy haciendo aqu es dibujar un crculo, ms bien un valo, en realidad, que un crculo. No es un crculo perfecto, por decirlo de alguna manera. Y es un poco ms ancho de lado a lado que de arriba abajo. Bueno, esta seccin inferior de aqu abajo al final se va a borrar pero dejemos esto ahora; de hecho, la mayor parte se borra. I know this is boring. Bear with me: its going to get more interesting as we go. And between this line and this line lets just draw a line thats right half way between the two of them. This is going to help you place the eyes. And speaking of the eyes, lets go ahead and draw circles for the eyes. So youve got this line here. Youve got these two lines here. If you draw a kind of an oval right here, thats going to help you place the first eye. OK? Now imagine that eyeyoure not drawing itbut imagine two of those eyes side by side, and you leave a space that is that wide, and then you draw another oval, this one a little narrower from side to side. This is the second eye. And I dont know if I have any trick for helping you understand this distance here, but just keep in mind that its close to this line but not actually touching it. OK? Now weve got the placement of the eyes. After that lets go ahead and get a mouth in here. And I should say right now thatyou knowthere are just endless varieties of head shape. This ones going to be kind of cartoony cute manga style. Only Ill just talk quickly about the mouth again. So many different ways of doing the mouth that Im just going to do a little happy smiling mouth. You can put anything you want in here. This video is mainly about the placementof where it is. Notice that the line coming straight down here at the beginning tells us where the mouth line roughly is going to start, and then youd have it stop well before it comes to the cheek. One of the easiest things is to go up from here to that first line of the circle and just drop a dot there, kind of between this eyemore or less straight above this mouth line. That gives you the placement of the nose. Thats one of the easier things. Im going to go ahead and add just a little more detail to these eyes. Shes sort of turning away from us but looking back at us, and that means that you have a couple of lines coming off of the circles that you just drewto the right.

Ya s que esto es aburrido. Tengan paciencia: se va a poner ms interesante conforme avancemos. Y entre esta lnea y esta lnea tracemos una lnea que est a mitad de camino entre las dos. Este es el segundo ojo. Y no s si tengo algn truco para ayudarles a entender esta distancia de aqu, pero simplemente tengan presente que est cerca de esta lnea pero sin llegar a tocarla. Vale? Ya tenemos la posicin de los ojos. Despus de eso, sigamos adelante y pongamos una boca aqu. Y debera decir ahora mismo que hay infinitas variedades de forma de la cabeza. El estilo manga de esta (cabeza) va a ser mono, tipo dibujos animados. Slo volver a hablar rpidamente de la boca. Tantas formas diferentes de hacer la boca que simplemente voy a hacer una pequea boca sonriente y feliz. Aqu pueden meter lo que quieran. Este vdeo trata principalmente de la posicin, de dnde est. And this first line you put here that was sort of half way between thosethats a great one for telling you where the eyebrows are going to go. So starting just above this circle here and kind of going furtherits not directly above it cause shes turning away from youyou can indicate a nice long eyebrow here that goes a goodyou knowone more of these circles to the right, and a much smaller over here as a secondary brow. Now lets get the placement of the ear. I dont know if I have a hard-and-fast rule for this, but if you kind of draw a line over here off of that first circlethat can give you a place to drop the ear, and Im going to drop this one, and just a little below that line where the eyes are and not extending quite as low as where the mouth is. And that helps me understand where the ears go. Ive a feeling people who are [in tr(ouble) or have a (?)] problem with the facial feature placement are not so worried about the ears. Its mainly the eyes, the nose and the mouth. And so you can see we are getting pretty close to where we want everything to be. Im going to go ahead and add a little extra detail to the eyes, although again this is not a video so much about giving you all the detail stuff. Its more about the placement of the facial features. Lets go ahead and get a neck in here. Kind of coming down from that ear, we can put a just very gently curving line for the back of the neck, and coming over here at the left past the chin, a line more or less straight down for the rest of that neck. And were almost there, really, in terms of the placement of all the features. I dont want this video to be so much about how to draw hair. Everyone can kind of find their own way, but Im going to go ahead and drop in some lines to indicate this female characters hair style. Ive got some other videos about how to draw hair, and Im sure I can always use some more, but as I said, this video is reallyoh, notice as I do the hair that I have that circle there. The hair is just going to be a little bit above that circle, just as it would be on the human head.

Y esta primera lnea que pusieron aqu, que estaba como a medio camino entre esas: esa es una lnea estupenda para decirles dnde van a ir las cejas. As que empezando justo por encima de este crculo aqu, y como yendo ms all no est directamente encima porque (la chica) est apartndose de ustedes pueden sealar una ceja bien larga aqu que se extienda un buen saben, un crculo ms de estos hacia la derecha, y uno mucho ms pequeo aqu como ceja secundaria. No s si tengo una regla fija para esto, pero si trazan una lnea aqu que salga de ese primer crculo, eso puede darles un lugar para poner la oreja, y voy a poner esta, y justo un poco por debajo de esa lnea donde estn los ojos y sin que se prolongue hasta tan abajo como donde est la boca. Y eso me ayuda a entender dnde van las orejas. Tengo la sensacin de que la gente que tiene problemas con la colocacin de los rasgos faciales no est tan preocupada por las orejas. Son principalmente los ojos, la nariz y la boca. Y as pueden ver que nos estamos acercando bastante a donde queremos que est todo. Voy a seguir adelante y a aadir algn detalle ms a los ojos, aunque, de nuevo, este no es un vdeo tanto sobre darles todo lo de los detalles. Es ms sobre la colocacin de los rasgos faciales. Sigamos adelante y pongamos un cuello aqu. Como bajando de esa oreja, podemos poner, a modo de nuca, una lnea ligeramente curvada, y viniendo por aqu a la izquierda, despus de la barbilla, una lnea ms o menos recta hacia abajo para el resto de ese cuello. Y ya casi estamos, realmente, en trminos de situacin de todos los rasgos. No quiero que este vdeo sea tanto sobre cmo dibujar el pelo. Todo el mundo puede como encontrar su propia manera, pero voy a seguir adelante y dejar unas lneas para indicar el peinado de este personaje femenino. Tengo otros vdeos sobre cmo dibujar el pelo, y estoy seguro de que siempre puedo utilizar algunos ms, pero, como dije, este vdeo es en realidad Oh, fjense cuando hago el pelo en que tengo ese crculo ah. Youre not going to have the hair so flat down on top of that circle. So just give yourself a little bit of a gap there when drawing the hair. But like I said, this is kind of cartoony cute manga style, and so, if theres someone out there who wants something a little more serious-lookingId say like Death Note or that kind of a thing, where its closer to actual human anatomy if youd like to see that kind of a video, just let me know and Ill be happy to do one that follows that a little trickier, probably because, like I said, it is closer to real human anatomy, and so that always takes a little extra effort. But let me just go ahead and finish this up. You know, Ive done a lot of videos lately that are line by line, and they go on for quite a long time, and some people get a little sick of me talking and who can blame them? I get sick of me talking sometimes too. So Im going to kick this in the time lapse real fast, finish up the details of it, and be back to give you some final words. All right, well there you go. Sorry I had this time lapse through so much of the last part of the illustration just to keep this video short.
