SAVE THE COW SAVE THE NATION

India is a land enriched with culture and religions. Unity in diversity prevails throughout the nation. Everyone in this nation irrespective of their social and religious outlook maintains love and respect for each other .Each and every citizen irrespective of religion, race, caste, gender has the birth right to thrive for a healthy and peaceful life because this nation and this world belong to us. It will be also appreciable for all of us to remember always that this world and this nation do not only belong to 6 billion people but also to 28 billion animals and other creatures and the conscience surely dictates that all beings have the right to live. As far as status of mother Cow in India is concerned, Indian society has addressed the Cow as Gow maata. Vedas and Upanishads dictate how sacred and pure cow is. From spiritual perspective all cows in existence in the world today are factual descendents of the sacred cows of India. It is solely and exclusively from the ghee of cows that the sacred rituals prescribed and authorized in the Vedas are empowered and able to be performed.

In scriptures it is said, Namo Brahmanya Devaya Go Brahmana Hitaya Ca Jagad Dhitaya Krshnaya Govindaya Namo Namah (Hey Lord Krshna, You are the well wisher of the Cows and Saints and You are the well wisher of the entire Human society and World)

But the question (???) arises exactly at this point that whether the cows that coexist with the humans today have lost their right to survive peacefully in this nation? Well, if we take a close look on the situation we are sure to get an affirmative answer from our conscience. Cow, which deserves to be worshipped, is slaughtered in large scale in many parts of the country. A large number of cows are slaughtered every year in our country and such heinous act is increasing at an alarming rate which is indeed an assault on religion and culture of India. As long as Cow was given adequate respect, our country was in the ocean of prosperity with sufficient supply of milk, curd and ghee. People were intelligent and society was happy. There also existed a time when the number of Cows was the yardstick to measure the economic condition of a family. Mother Earth was also very happy getting cow dung as fertilizer and hence generating handful of healthy and nutritious crops to give adequate food for people.

Cow is revered as mother in our culture .It is believed that she has a home to 36 crore deities. She is worshipped in our country for many generations. But same sacred animal is being slaughtered in large numbers, which is the cause of natural calamities like-flood and drought. The killing of any animal is unethical.

Lets now focus on the economic and agricultural perspectives that shall establish the importance of cow in these practical aspects of our nation. India is a agriculture based country and the cows and bulls have played significant role in yielding healthy crops to the nation from time immemomorial. Cow dung has proved to be the best bio fertilizer for crops compared to the chemical fertilizers. According to soil testing department, for better crops 16 elements are needed in the soil. Chemical fertilizers supplement only two of the elements required but cow dung has all the necessary elements. Also earthworms (!!!!...) with the help of cow dung have helped in maintaining the soil quality of the agricultural field, but how (???......)

Earthworms feed on decomposed cow dung .Vermicompost is produced by earthworms fed with cowdung. It helps to increase crop yield and does not have any adverse effect on soil, plant and environment. It improves soil aeration, texture and tilth thereby reducing soil compaction. It improves water retention capacity of soil because of its high organic matter content Research has shown that through the use of vermicompost the nutrients in the soil are increased as the fertilizer, or the excrement from the earthworms is rich in calcium, magnesium, organic carbon and sulphur.

COLLECTED VERMICOMPOST

According to an article published in the website www.EarthWormDigest.com the vermicompost can be turned in to a natural pesticide (vermiwash) where again the role of cow comes to picture. The vemicompost is mixed with cow's urine, fruits, sugarcane juice, coconut juice and a bit of toddy and left to ferment for 30 days. Once the diluted vermiwash is sprayed on the crop, it not only keeps pest away but the crop would also taste better when cooked. Thus such discoveries positively affirm that cow and earthworms are friends of a farmer and have immense contribution in the production of healthy crops.

VERMIWASH

It is worth mentioning that despite uncontrolled use of chemical fertilizers and chemical pesticides and wastage of huge money on them, the productivity has not reached the expected target. On the other hand, it is increasing the Earth temperature and damaging ozone layer. A study says that blind use of food produced with chemical fertilizer has increased urea level in India, which is highest in the world and developing various diseases. The crop utilizes only 25 % of urea. A small portion trickles down to the ground water and another portion reacts with the oxygen in the atmosphere and converts in to oxides of nitrates. Then, with the help of plants it reaches in troposphere and then travels 30 40 kms above the level in stratosphere and disintegrates with ultra-violet rays in to green house gas nitric oxide, which damages ozone layer. So such disasters can be avoided by adopting the idea of using cow dung.

Also the use of tractors in our fields kills the worms which are useful for fertility. Hence the idea of using bulls to plow the land must be revived and promoted. Cow urine is a best medicine in the world to cure many diseases. Even most of the ayurvedic medicine manufacturing plants are using cow urine in its medicine to cure many diseases that remained incurable by allopathic medicines. Thus if anyone in possession of a cow can earn a good sum of money by selling her urine. The scope of production of pesticides and insecticides has also become organic as the same can be prepared using cow urine. Such product is sure to protect our crops without any harmful effect. Cow milk has important nutrients which provide nourishment and strength to humans from his childhood to adulthood. Cow milk is the heavenly nectar available on this earth in the form of mother cow. One of the most important mineral present in cows milk is calcium. This mineral is vital for bones growth and development. Calcium found in cows milk also has several other benefits such as it protects the colon cells from the chemicals which lead to cancer. Cows milk is rich in vitamin B2 and vitamin B12, both of which help to produce energy for the body.

No religion in the world advocates for violence. One is well within ones rights to follow ones religion and all the rituals prescribed, but not at the expense of other humans and animals. Protection of cows is the single most important Principle towards saving the whole world from both moral and spiritual degradation. We should endeavor never ever to forget that in Indian culture the cow is the most important animal for human society. The Bull is the emblem of Dharma and Cow is the representative of earth. Both the Cow and the Bull are the symbols of the most offenceless living beings and to kill Cows means to end human civilization. The people with crude sensibility who are engaged in such unholy act must realize what they are up to in the name of economic development of the nation.

It is relevant enough to bring the importance of cows in the limelight. Protection of cows and bulls is possible only when cultured and pious minded citizens of this nation come forward to actively support the cause by their words, actions and wealth and many of our citizens have also actively participated in safeguarding the cow family for the past many years. It is the responsibility of every one of us. Lets never end the human civilization.

So lets spread this universal message and appeal the world to step forward and volunteer to service of Cows.
