ASSIGNMENT FOR

B.Tech

1. For a given compression ratio and heat addition explain why Otto cycle is more efficient than Diesei Cycle. 2. Explain with sketches the working principles of a single stage steam reaction turbine 3. Derive an expression for the air standard efficiency of a Brayton cycle in terms of pressure ratio. 4. Prove that the pressure ratio for maximum work is a function of the limiting temperature ratio. 5. Explain the effect of friction in a steam nozzle and derive an expression for the critical pressure ratio in terms of the index of expansion. 6. Explain in detail the classification of steam turbines. ,Tabulate the differences between impulse and reaction turbines. Why compounding of steam turbines are needed and explain in detail with neat sketches the various methods of compounding of steam turbines.
