    Bornwithskilfulmeans,intelligenceandcompassionintotheShakyaclan, vanquishingthehostofMarasthatotherscouldnottame, yourbodyresplendentasamountainofgold, toyou,KingoftheShakyas,Ibowdown. Havingfirstdoneallthatisnecessarytorousetheenlightenmentmind, youcompletedthetwoaccumulationsofmeritandprimordialwisdom. Withvastactivityyouhavenowbecome theprotectorofbeingsandIpraiseyou. Havingsatisfiedthewishesofthegods,seeingthatthetimewasripeforthetamingofbeings, youleftthedivinerealmsintheformofanelephant. Ibowdowntoyouwho,havingsoughtoutthefamily, enteredthewombofQueenMayadevi. Ibowdowntoyouwho,tenmonthslater, wasbornasPrinceoftheShakyasintheauspiciousGardensofLumbini, BrahmaandIndrapayinghomagetoyouandyouprovingbyyoursupremesignsthatyouwere ascionoftheFamilyoftheEnlightenedOnes. ALionamongmen,fullofyouthfulvigour, atAghamagadhayoudisplayedmagicalathleticskills. Ibowdowntoyouwhovanquishedallpridefulbeings intheperformanceofunrivalleddeeds. Ibowdowntoyouwho,inaccordancewithworldlycustom andinordertopreventmisunderstandings, acceptedawifeandretinue andwithskillandwisdomexpertlyperformedthedeedofrulingthekingdom. Perceivingthehollownessofsamsaricconcerns, youquittheroyalhouseholdandwanderedforth, toyouwhoordainedhimselfbeforetheVishuddhaStupa withthevowsofarenunciatehomeleaverIbowdown. PerseveringinyourintentiontoattainEnlightenment, forsixyearsonthebanksoftheNairanjana youperformedausteritiesand,throughperseverance,attainedthefinalgoal. ToyouwhoaresupremeinmeditativeconcentrationIbowdown. Thattheeffortsmadefrombeginninglesstimemightbearfruit, atthefootoftheBodhiTreeinMagadha,

    unwaveringinvajraposture,youattainedcompletebuddhahood. ToyouwhobroughttoperfectionenlightenmentIbowdown. Ibowdowntoyouwho,swiftlythinkingofsentientbeingswithcompassion, atVaranasiandsimilarsupremeplaces turnedtheWheeloftheLawforthosewhocouldbetamed andledthemontothepathoftheThreeVehicles. Toputanendtotheunvanquishederrors ofthesixTirthakateachers,Devadatta,andsoforth, inthelandofKrakuchandayousubduedallmaras toyou,SageSubduingallRealms,Ibowdown. Yourenlightenedqualitiesuniqueinthethreeworlds, atShravastiyouperformedgreatmiracles. andgods,menandallsentientbeingsmadeperfectofferings. ToyouwhospreadtheTeachingsIbowdown. InordertostirthelazyandleadthemtoDharma, atthepeerlesssiteofKushinagara youenteredtheBodyofIndestructibleDeathlessness. ToyouwhodemonstratedthepassageintoParinirvanaIbowdown. Inutterpurity,soastodisplayperfectfearlessness andsothatbeingsofthefuturemightaccumulatemerit, atthatveryplaceyoudisplayedamultitudeofringsels. ToyouwholefteightkindsofrelicIbowdown. Thus,bythemeritofmakingthisbriefpraiseofthedeeds oftheLordoftheTeachings,theBhagavanBuddha, maytheactivitiesofallbeings becomelikethoseoftheTathagata. YouWhoCourseinThusness,maywebecomejustlikeyou, endowedwithabody,retinue,lifespan,buddhafield andexcellentmarksandsignsofperfectionsuchasyoualonehavehad. MayIandallothersbecomejustlikethis. Havingthuspraisedyou,bythepowerofourprayers, formyselfandallotherswhereverwemaybe, maysickness,povertyandfightingbeallayed andmaytheDharmaandallauspiciouscircumstancesprevail.
