TM 090
* Sturdy steel support for fitting experimental units as an alternative to wall mounting
Technical Description The stand is used for the convenient attachment of mechanical demonstration models from the TM and EM series which can otherwise be wall-mounted. By means of several elongated holes, all the relevant units can be bolted in place using M8 machine bolts and nuts. A writing surface, of adjustable height, is attached to the side of the stand. The support rests on castors which allow for ease of movement but which can also be locked in position to ensure secure support during experimentation. Learning Objectives / Experiments Can be used for all experimental units in the TM and EM series which are intended for wall mounting: - TM 121, TM 122, TM 123, TM 161, TM 162, TM 163, TM 164, TM 226, TM 228, TM 232, TM 236, TM 612, TM 613, EM 050, EM 052

Ideal mathematical pendulum can be demonstrated Moment of inertia in an experiment on a rotary pendulum
Technical description
The model permits oscillations on pendulums with bifilar or trifilar suspension to be investigated. For this purpose a bar, a cylinder, or a hollow cylinder made of galvanised steel can be hung from a wall mounted carrier plate made of aluminium and placed in oscillation. The bodies used in the experiments have strong steel hooks for attachment to the suspension cords. The length of the cords can be rapidly changed and securely fixed using clamping wheels. The beam can oscillate, by translation, in the plane of suspension like an ideal mathematical pendulum. The cylinder and the circular ring work as rotary pendulums.

TM 228
Technical description Using this unit, the term surface friction and the function of a plate clutch can be studied in experiments. Various metal discs are attached to the support for the experiments; these form the mating face. The upper loose friction disc made of steel is placed against these discs. The loose friction disc can be rotated and is fitted to a bearing stud. The disc is driven by attaching weights to a belt that passes around the circumference of the disc; the rope is guided using low friction ball bearing mounted pulleys. The weight of the loose disc and the additional weights applied generate the necessary contact pressure. * Journal bearing friction with different bearing materials; comparison with roller bearing friction
Technical Description
The model permits investigation of friction in journal and roller bearings. Friction moments can be measured and comparisons made between different bearing designs. It is also possible to perform experiments on the dynamics of rotation. The flywheel's bearing journal can be mounted in different ways with this model. This is achieved through the use of three easily interchangeable journal bearing shells made from different materials. A roller bearing pair is also provided as an alternative mounting. The model is intended for wall mounting. Alternatively, it can be attached to the TM 090 mounting frame. The well-structured instructional material outlines the technological fundamentals and provides a step-by-step guide through the experiments.
