Cutting & Ironing

A 1/4 inch seam allowance needs to be added when cutting out pattern pieces. Cut out the exterior fabric and the lining. Adding can be very simple, tape 2 round pencils together, and trace the line of pattern with inner pencil, while outer pencil draws the seam. See Picture 1. Because there is a right and left shoe you will need to reverse the pattern when tracing. Make sure the right and left pieces are separated to avoid confusion when attaching the soles. Use a labeled Ziploc bag to keep the right and left pieces separated. If you would like to attach the interfacing, iron the lining and interfacing. See Picture 2.

Cut the straps. Press the strap in inch. See Picture 3. Press the strap in half lengthwise, then bring each side to the center and press again. Open the Velcro. Place one piece of the Velcro onto the strap. Sew on the Velcro in a rectangle shape. Back tack along the starting and ending points for extra strength. See Picture 5. Sew the other piece of the Velcro onto the exterior upper. Sew the Velcro as a rectangle shape. Back tack along the starting and ending point. See Picture 8.
