Songs of Praise

Desired of All the Nations

Hear us praying from the darkness
Let this moment be the start of the kingdom of God
The kingdom of God
Send the One that You have promised
Send Him now to live among us
The Light of the world
The Light of the world
The glorious One
Outshining the sun

(Chorus)
The desired of all the nations will come
And the earth will be filled with His glory
The desired of all the nations will come
And the earth will be filled with His glory

We are watching we are waiting

Ev'ry heart anticipating all over the earth
All over the earth
We will see You prove Your mercy
We will bow and call You worthy
And crown You our King
And crown You our King
The glorious One
Outshining the sun

2
Offering
Over the skies of Bethlehem appeared a star
While angels sang to lowly shepherds
Three wise men seeking truth traveled from afar
Hoping to find the Child from heaven
Falling on their knees they bowed
Before the humble Prince of Peace

(Chorus)
I bring an offering of worship to my King
No one on earth deserves the praises that I sing
Jesus may You receive the honor that You're due
O Lord I bring an offering to You

The sun cannot compare to the glory of Your love

There is no shadow in Your presence
No mortal man would dare to stand before Your throne
Before the Holy One of heaven
It's only by Your blood, and it's only through Your mercy
Lord I come

The Collect of the Day

Celebrant The Lord be with you.

People And also with you.
Celebrant Let us pray.

Purify our conscience, Almighty God, by your daily visitation, that your Son Jesus Christ, at his
coming, may find in us a mansion prepared for himself; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity
of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

3
LITURGY OF THE WORD
Please be seated.

The First Lesson: 2 Samuel 7: 4, 8-16

Psalm 132: 8-15

The psalm will be read as prompted by the Lector.
8
Rise up, O Lord, and go to your resting-place, *
you and the ark of your might.
9
Let your priests be clothed with righteousness, *
and let your faithful shout for joy.
10
For your servant David’s sake *
do not turn away the face of your anointed one.
11
The Lord swore to David a sure oath *
from which he will not turn back:
‘One of the sons of your body *
I will set on your throne.
12
If your sons keep my covenant and my decrees that I shall teach them, *
their sons also, for evermore, shall sit on your throne.’
13
For the Lord has chosen Zion; *
he has desired it for his habitation:
14
‘This is my resting-place for ever; *
here I will reside, for I have desired it.
15
I will abundantly bless its provisions; *
I will satisfy its poor with bread.
16
Its priests I will clothe with salvation, *
and its faithful will shout for joy.
17
There I will cause a horn to sprout up for David; *
I have prepared a lamp for my anointed one.
18
His enemies I will clothe with disgrace, *
but on him, his crown will gleam.’

The Second Lesson: Romans 16:25-27

4
The Alleluia
Please stand and sing

The Holy Gospel: Luke 1:26-38

Please remain standing for the reading of the Gospel.

The Sermon
Please be seated.

5
The Nicene Creed
Please stand.

We believe in one God,

the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,

the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,

who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

10
The Communion Hymns
Please be seated and sing

Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming

Lo, how a Rose e’er blooming from tender stem hath sprung!
Of Jesse’s lineage coming, as men of old have sung.
It came, a floweret bright, amid the cold of winter,
When half spent was the night.

Isaiah ’twas foretold it, the Rose I have in mind;

With Mary we behold it, the virgin mother kind.
To show God’s love aright, she bore to men a Savior,
When half spent was the night.

O Savior, Child of Mary, who felt our human woe,

O Savior, King of glory, who dost our weakness know;
Bring us at length we pray, to the bright courts of Heaven,
And to the endless day!

Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence

Let all mortal flesh keep silence,
and with fear and trembling stand;
ponder nothing earthly minded,
for with blessing in his hand
Christ our God to earth descendeth,
our full homage to demand.

King of kings, yet born of Mary,

as of old on earth he stood,
Lord of lords in human vesture,
in the Body and the Blood
he will give to all the faithful
his own self for heavenly food.

Rank on rank the host of heaven

spreads its vanguard on the way,
as the Light of Light descendeth

11
from the realms of endless day,
that the powers of hell may vanish
as the darkness clears away.

At his feet the six-winged seraph;

cherubim with sleepless eye,
veil their faces to the Presence,
as with ceaseless voice they cry,
"Alleluia, alleluia!
Alleluia, Lord Most High!"

Here I am to Worship
Light of the world
You stepped down into darkness
Opened my eyes let me see
Beauty that made
This heart adore You
Hope of a life spent with You

(chorus)
So here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You're my God
You're altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me

King of all days

Oh so highly exalted
Glorious in heaven above
Humbly You came
To the earth You created
All for love's sake became poor

12
The Post-Communion Prayer
Please stand and say together

Almighty and everliving God,

we thank you for feeding us with the spiritual food
of the most precious Body and Blood of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ;
and for assuring us in these holy mysteries
that we are living members of the Body of your Son,
and heirs of your eternal kingdom.
And now, Father, send us out
to do the work you have given us to do,
to love and serve you as faithful witnesses of Christ our Lord.
To him, to you, and to the Holy Spirit,
be honor and glory, now and forever. Amen

The Blessing

The Hymn in Recession

Please remain standing and sing.

One Pure and Holy Passion

Give me one pure and holy passion,
Give me one magnificent obsession,
Jesus give me one glorious ambition for my life:
To know and follow hard after You.

To know and follow hard after You,

To grow as Your disciple in your truth,
This world is empty, pale and poor
Compared to knowing You my Lord,
Lead me on and I will run after You,
Lead me on and I will run after You.

The Dismissal
Deacon Let us go forth in the name of Christ. Alleluia, alleluia!
People Thanks be to God. Alleluia, alleluia!
