This document is supposed to help you through the installation of the POIWarner with step-by-step instructions. Further on you receive solutions for most of the questions that can occur during the installation process and support while using the POI-Warner for the first time.

Activation and configuration

Installation
1 Connect yout TomTom device with your computer. Please check
whether the device is recognized by the system and listed as an USBDrive.

2 The POI-Warner is installed on the Desktop first. After that the Desktop-Application installs the Fhren Sie bitte die Setup-Datei des POI-Warners auf ihrem Desktop-PC aus und folgen Sie den Bildschirmanweisungen.
Possible problems
You do not have the setup.

Solutions
Download the POI-Warner from this web-address: TomTom GO Classic/300/500/700/One/Rider www.navigating.de/poiwarnerttgo/setupttgo.exe TomTom GO 510/710/910 www.navigating.de/poiwarnerttgo/setupttgo_10.exe Please restart at step 1.

3 After the Installation the POI-Warner Synchronization is run automatically. Check the connection of your device to your computer. Please follow the onscreen-instructions.

Possible problems
The device is not recognized.

Solutions
Please check the connection cable. Is the device in USB mode and can you see a connected device on your device screen? Is the device listed in windows explorer? If you still have problems contact the support to get a solution.

4 The installation on the device follows now. Ensure that youve installed
TomTom firmware version 6 or higher on your device. You can install the proper firmware even after the installation of POI-Warner. Although POIWarner will function correctly only after the installation of the correct firmware. Note that firmware version 6.510 is not natively compatible with POI-Warner use the latest version instead. To learn how you can obtain the latest version please visit TomToms website. http://www.tomtom.com/

Possible problems
The installation was skipped due to compatibility issues.

Solutions
If you own a TomTom ONE or TomTom Rider this is normal behaviour, because both devices are not compatible to this version of the device-application. The automatic desktop-computer synchronization works nevertheless. Most devices dont need this procedure. If you see this window on your systems in necessary to let the device boot up until you see the map before you replug the cable. If you plug in too early the needed information wont be created and the configuration could not proceed.

The application tells me to unplug and replug the device, but nothing changes after that. I cant proceed.

5 Please select the map you want to synchronize for.

Possible problems
No Maps are shown.

Solutions
Is there really a map installed on the device? Is a SD-Card in the device (if not GO 700)? Is the device connected correctly and listed in windows explorer? If you still have problems contact the support to get a solution.

6 You have done it! The desktop application was successfully installed. Top right
you can see you POI-Warner ID. You need this ID later.

To use POI-Warner you need to purchase it. Some services are also not free. Please inform yourself at the specific poi-shop. To buy POI-Warner visit please: http://www.navigating.de/

1 Connect your device to your desktop-pc and run the synchronizationapplication on your pc.

2 The list of the available overlays on the respective server is loaded

and displayed afterwards.

Possible problems
The POI-Warner can not establish an internet connection: The name of the server is shown on top of the screen but all other fields (category and list of the overlays) remain empty.

Solutions
Please make sure that the computer has set up an internet connection currently.

If the previous solution did not lead to success: A general connection problem can occur due to several reasons; this includes environment-specific configurations and settings regarding network configuration, proxy configuration, firewall configuration or operating system configuration. The main problem in this case is the identification of the responsible component. At first a connection test is necessary which could give a clue at least. Please accomplish the connection test (specified in the appendix of this document) and send the results to the support for the synchronization: info@poihandler.com.

3 Please select a desired category on top of the page (after the list is
displayed) and the desired overlays by marking them in the bottom part of the screen. You can switch arbitrarily between the different categories and the POI-Warner "remembers" your selections for every category for the synchronization process. Please select only such overlays from the categories for which you are activated (some of the overlays require a non free separate registration with the provider www.poihandler.com).

4 After the selection of the overlays, please click on the button

"Start Synchronization!". Then the overlays will be downloaded and copied to the right directories automatically.

Possible problems
The POI-Warner can not establish an internet connection. The POI-Warner reports: The sync service for this overlay belongs to the non free supply of the POI service provider (or similar).

Solutions
Look at the solution steps at 2.2.

You are not registered for the non free overlays. Then you have to remove the overlay from the selection of the overlays that will be synchronized or register for the overlay with the provider at www.poihandler.com.

If the previous solution did not lead to success: You are registered for the overlay at poihandler.com but the notification appears nevertheless: Your registration data at poihandler.com are presumably not updated yet. Please write to the operator of the synchronization service (info@poihandler.com) and give him your current data (POI-Warner ID and transaction number as well as the service to be activated).

in the status indicator line.

3 Mark the box Download weather data left bottom in the window.
This Selection is remembered on every start of the application.

4 After clicking Start Synchronization weather data and selected overlays

will be downloaded and copied to the right places.

The POI-Warner can not establish an internet connection The POI-Warner reports: The sync service for the weather data is not registered or outdated (or similar).

Solutions
Look at the solution steps at 2.2.

Weather data is included for 1 year. If this time span ran out you probably have to buy a new subscription.

Use of the Scheduler

1 Connect your device to your desktop-pc and run the synchronizationapplication on your pc.

2 You can see the main menu.

Activate the Box Run scheduler on Windows-Startup on the bottom of the window.

3 Choose the kind of synchronization desired:

a) None No automatic synchronizations will be done. b) On Connect Synchronization on every connection of the device to the desktop pc. c) Daily Synchronization on every day and connection. d) Weekly Synchronization on every week and connection. e) Monthly Synchronization on every 30 days and connection.

4 Please restart your computer to activate the changes.

1 Make sure you synchronized the overlays you want to use.

2 Switch on your TomTom.

In normal cases all newly synchronised overlays are automatically added to the display. If this is not the case select the following menu items Change Settings (de-)activate POI

Choose all overlays you want to see on your map.

3 All overlays which are typical for acustic warning are automatically
selected. If you dont want a specific warning deactivate it using Mainmenu POI-Warner Options Select POI-Warning

and confirm the changes with Ok.

ATTENTION!
The warning of speed-cam overlays can be accusable in certain countries. Please check your countrys laws before you use this function.

1 Make sure you downloaded the weather data with the
POI-Warner synchronization-tool.

2 Switch on your TomTom.

Choose the following Menus: POI-Warner Weather

Choose Select City

Choose the city which should be your local city. Possible problems
A message appears which says that there is no weather data.

Solutions
Please make sure you downloaded weather data with the synchronization-tool successfully and you do not use data from another machine.

4 Choose Weather Today, Weather Tomorrow or Weather 5-Day .

Pay attention to the fact that Weather Route maybe need a destination city selected if it cannot get this information out of a programmed route.
