******************************************** As Co-Chair of the Black, Latino, and Asian Caucus, I encourage all our constituents in these communities to register for this event. Its especially important that our minority communities use this expo to their full advantage to access employment and gain the knowledge on how-to start up and succeed in the expansion of their small business. Councilman Robert Jackson, Co-Chair Black, Latino & Asian Caucus. Fernando Cabrera, Co-Chair of the Caucus also adds, "Communities of color have been disproportionately affected by the unemployment epidemic in New York City. I am proud that the BLAC can deliver an event where individuals can be linked with opportunities for work, and entrepreneurs can develop and network to bring greater opportunity to their communities." "My colleagues and I in the Black, Latino, and Asian Caucus, are happy to host this free expo which will provide resources for residents of our respective communities to obtain on-the-spot employment opportunities, job training, and/or entrepreneurial services." -Council Member Leroy Comrie, Deputy Majority Leader, Co-Chair Employment Opportunities & Small Business Expo Committee In a city where the cost of living far exceeds the national average, we are determined to assist communities plagued with unemployment as high as 26% compared to the City average of about 9%. It is important to bring opportunities to fight poverty in communities of color. Councilwoman Diana Reyna, Co-Chair Employment Opportunities & Small Business Expo Committee The Black, Latino and Asian Caucus is represented by 27 members of the New York City Council from all five boroughs of this great city. ###
