Basic steps to Secure your Wi-Fi Device I have a Wi-Fi network connected to Hathway Broadband.

Use WPA or WPA2 Encryption. Use a strong authentication password that is a combination of alphanumeric & special character & is at least eight characters long. Avoid use of open or WEP-Encrypted Wi-Fi Use Wi-Fi Network name (SSID) that does not reveal your personal, company or location information and disable (SSID) broadcast. Change the default administrator password periodically Enable MAC address filtering. not in use.
