The Hypocrisy of God-Fearing Individuals

It is amazing how some humans have failed to recognize the hypocrisy they have instilled among themselves. They still to this day cling to religion to guide them and they sit in judgment of others who are different or who do not meet the standards of their so-called social norm. They fight wars in the name of God, even though the commandments tell them not to kill. They preach to others that the way they have chosen to live their lives is wrong, and if a change does not occur soon they will be facing eternal suffering in a fiery pit. That alone would be tolerable if not for the hypocritical injustices of what these so-called religious individuals do behind closed doors. They commit adultery, they divorce, they are filled with greed, and these are simply general crimes against mankind. In Frankenstein, by Mary Shelly, she suggests that Victor Frankenstein, the creator of the monster is a hypocrite himself. With this it is clear to see that the events in her story parallel to the problem with hypocrisy. In all their selfrighteous glory some religious individuals feel the need to exploit others for their taboo beliefs or ways of living their lives, through the Bible and especially in politics, because they fail, or better yet, refuse to look at the veracity of their detestable hypocrisy. It is quite interesting how most of these religious individuals, focusing more on Christianity and Catholicism, revere to the Bible, as so many of them do, as the Word of God. The bible is a collection of spiritual manuscripts written by man, through God. Nevertheless, it was written by man. And however anyone may argue, even through the hand of God, man is still flawed and holds bias and prejudice in his heart. The Bible is archaic, well over 3000 years old, yet it is adhered to as the basis of the way this advancing population must live their lives. The Bible does provide good moral standards, however it can

Ferrell 2 and has been interpreted in thousands of different ways. For example, on the issue of simply being a homosexual, the bible states in the King James Version in 1 Corinthians 6:9, Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolater, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind. In the New International version however, it is supposedly translated into contemporary English by stating, Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! The sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, passive homosexual partners, and practicing homosexuals. By juxtaposing these two verses one can see how narrow-mindedly this verse was interpreted. It goes without saying that the Bible is not a valid resource of proposing to another how to live his or her life. Even so, there are plenty of adulterers, idolaters, and fornicators within the church living in hypocrisy, whereas the Bible says in Luke 6:37-42, Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brothers eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? It is out of convenience that these so-called Christians or Catholics use the Word of God. Only when it is applicable to justify their behaviors will they use the bible to exploit the flaws or the taboo ways according to their standards. In Lehman Strauss study, Homosexuality: The Christian Perspective, he states, For the Christian, the Bible is the final authority for both belief and behaviour. In Frankenstein, Shelly suggests that Victor Frankenstein himself is the monster.
