1 Creating the plate


To create the plate (the base feature), you create a three-dimensional, deformable, shell Planar part and name it. You then sketch its profile (0.5 m 1.0 m).

1. StartAbaqus/CAE,andcreateanewmodeldatabase. 2. IntheModelTree,doubleclickthePartscontainertocreateanewpart. 3. NamethepartPlate.Changetothefollowingsettings: Athreedimensional,deformablebody Ashellplanarbasefeature 4. IntheApproximatesizetextfield,type2.Youwillbemodelingtheplateusingmetersfortheunitof length,anditsoveralllengthis1meter;therefore,2metersisasufficientlylargeapproximatesize forthepart.ClickContinuetocreatethepart. 5. 6. 7. 8. FromtheSketchertoolbox,selecttherectangletool . Sketchanarbitraryrectangle,andclickmousebutton2intheviewporttoexittherectangletool. Dimensionthelowerandleftedgessothatitis1mlongand0.5mhigh.
