Last month saw the first Parent Forum Meeting and despite the foul weather a group of eleven parents and carers attended, two of whom are also Parent Governors. This meeting was set up to encourage genuine participation and collaboration between parents and school. The aims for the Parent Forum/Council is that the group can advise and give their views and contribute to school policy and decisions to the Governing Body in an advisory or consultative role. The Parent Forum/Council is not a decision making body they feed into the Governing Body. The aim of the Forum was to elect representatives from each class to attend Parent Council meetings. The parents present made suggestions of items that they were interested in or concerned about and from this they prioritised issues for the Forum to use in drawing up an Action Plan and agenda for their first meeting. A constitution was presented and agreed. The following parents were elected; RBMrs Hinxman; 1BMrs Marelli; 1WMrs Halliday; 2BMrs Karim; 3WMrs Rackstraw (until someone else can be found); 4C Mrs Coppen and 4H Mrs Baxter. Letters will be sent to parents from the classes not covered seeking nominations for representatives. It was agreed to hold the first meeting of the elected Parent Council on May 30th at 7.30pm.
Brampton Primary is a restorative school where the initial response to conflict is to find a solution where things are put right, the victims needs are met whilst also meeting the needs of the wrong doer and meet all the schools responsibilities.

We arrived at the British Museum at 10.30am and I was excited. Then we made our way down to our cloakroom and put our lunches and coats there. First of all we walked to Room 17 and 18 to find information to write down on our sheets. In the two rooms was information about temples, gods, battles and life as an Ancient Greek. Everybody thought Room 17 was interesting because of a massive model as a temple. We then had to stop for an hour because of lunch. At 12.30 all of our class went into a room to learn about temples. There were laptops there so we could design our own temple. It was really good because we learnt all the features of a temple likefriezes, columns, metopes (the pattern under the pediment!) and the base. After we finished we all went back to finish off our work in Room 18. At 14.30 we left the museum to make our way on the tube. I enjoyed this school trip! By James in 6M

Metopes from a Greek Temple Royal Garden Party If you are still stuck for ideas of what to wear to the Royal Garden Party, on Friday June 1st, you can always just wear a crown or tiara with red, white or blue clothes. We also thought of the Lion King, Prince Charming and Princess Pocahontas as another idea! But please no football kits as the Queen has high standards in dress code at her garden parties!! Signalong Course Our Parent Support Adviser, Mrs Amanda Reed, can now confirm that the recently advertised Signalong Course will take place on Thursday 14th June for 6 weeks, from 6.30 until 8.30pm. She will send a confirmation letter out to parents who had previously expressed an interest in attending. If you didnt respond and would be interested in this date please drop a note into her as soon as possible via the School Office.
