SharePoint will be heavily used in our environment. In V1, we stood up very basic sites and have seen the demand for such basic sites explode inside our company. I've waiting for this product! We like the idea of SharePoint being on YOUR server and not really being that complicated to use and set-up. The integration is spot-on and seamless. Awesome so far. Since we still have a small SharePoint implementation, we see most of the growth for SP being online. [look forward to] Being able to use SharePoint in the cloud so that our organization does not have to setup a infrastructure at our home office. Very easy, just like using Office on the desktop! [WebApps] This is a fantastic feature, much improved on Groove! [SharePoint Workspace]

[improve on] easier to find what you want, more logical organization

Setting up sites can be a part of the portal... including other things. Doing this in Sharepoint is way more complex then it should be...
cleaner navigation, more word processing options when editing a document using web browser. I find it a little complicated to know where I am - sharepoint site, admin sections etc - are there rules for when a new window opens or it just links through? There doesn't seem to be away to get back to admin from the Teamsite section, without using the back button or opening a new window and knowing the link. All ok apart from there's no link back to the main home screen you can go back to the sharepoint home but not the office 365 home. No easy way to get back to Portal from SPO. As sharepoint on premise is also not really easy to handle. But this is a problem with tremendous amount of growing features you loose simplicity.

I found it quite confusing- there are too many levels of navigationtoo many ribbons/columns - looses clarity of where to go for which actions Make it easier to find, edit and delete everything on the Team or website including documents, photos, pages, etc. As it is right now trying to delete pages, documents, photos or anything else is a complicated and convoluted process of weeding through pages or options to find the delete function and then going to the recycle bin to fully delete it. Layout of the ribbons, sidebar and other navigation needs to be clearer, more intuitive and easier to use just as Office 2010 is or better even than that. The options to edit the site and add content are all over the place, I need to look at the lower right. Then a drop down in the upper-left. It's not consistent with the Office Menu so it is a learning process all-around Should put a link in the master top or side of page when you create a teamsite. I couldn't figure out how to go back to the home page. It would be useful to have links home and to all other sites from each team site There isnt a big difference between editing mode and just regular navigation. [customer would like to see more distinction between the two]

what is the prefered hierarcy? (For example, never make the root site a blog, if you make the root site a publishing site, you will always have to approve before content appears, etc.) more information about how to create and organize sites Ability to change root site collection template or delete and recreate the root site. Default SharePoint site became unavailable after applying a template. Internet Explorer reports HTTP 404 error: Site not found. Default site is no longer accessible. After creating a new site collection, within the SharePoint admin center, site was selected as "Default Site", however the "Home" icon is still associated with the master site. When attempting again to set the secondary site as default, prompted with "Site is already the default". Within the user portal site, when selecting "Team Site", user is still directed to master site. Make a clear distinction between the creating sites and sites collection.

Set permissions up along with site creation. The ability to add users when you setup the site. Integration with Active Directory is key to make sure users are in, etc. What is the difference between All Users, All users (per tenant) and All Authenticated Users? How about just plain All Users? Consider a richer interface with drag and drop or shifting users from one box to another, somewhat like metadata navigation config. some users will be non-it and techno neophytes.

I don't know how to limit access to the person i am sharing my teamsite with. From what i can see, I can't give the person limited access from the get go by sending them a link from which they accept the invitation. Need ability to set permissions while granting access. It was very easy to share this via a yahoo email- but this gaves access to the whole team site and it was not clear if it was possible to just give access to one document and I could not figure out how to take away this access. Trying to allow access to someone is not easy at all. should be able to allow someone from outside to access. Unless I did it wrong I didn't like the fact that when I added a user an email went to them to invite them as a user to the site. Then when I had to delete that person I had to email them and tell them they were to ignore the invite and they were no longer a user. I think it would be better to add all of our users first then after we created the list of users we could check off the people that we wanted to send invite emails to and at that time delete those we decided not to keep. I found it a bit confusing when adding visitors and users. I went in and tried to do this without listening to the tutorial because I felt that it was too time consuming.

When I tried to share the site, I couldn't tell what the difference in permissions was between "visitors" and "members" and there is no link to define that I could see. get it to work. I never got the confirmation email. Then when I did get it on another hotmail account... it would not let me log in. It works, although it wasn't clear if you could just type an email address in the recipient list. I then sent the invitation to the share, and it emailed in the subject a non-sensical reference before my email: "i:0#.f|membership|*PII*@*PII*.onmicrosoft.com has invited you to collaborate on SharePoint Online Beta" I could not share with a hotmail account.

General For those of us who are not experienced SharePoint admins some beginner's guides would be useful. a complete walk through of the portal should be available from main page. Online training linked within the portal. Will like to see some tutorials More information and tutorials Specific Small "bug" in the "Site Collections" page: check boxes in front of collection are not visible until the mouse is on the collection Need to note that it takes ~15 min for a Security Group created at the Admin portal to propagate and be visible in SharePoint Online.

Are pdf files "searchable"? I uploaded a pdf and its icon did not show up in the doc library. You should post the crawl schedule so users know when content will be searchable
The uploading process was very straightforward, however I uploaded a PDF file and no icon is displayed for the item, which means that there is no PDF support configured for SharePoint in Office 365. This also implies that the PDF files will not be indexed, which is a clear requirement for many of our customers. No PDF support in Office 365 - this will be required by lots of customers. Tell me I can't upload exe before I actually upload it, it wasted my time

The add file button was placed well but could have been a little larger. It was confusing to have to select "Browse" then, when I'm apparently navigating my filesystem, paste in the link to the library to tell it to connect. Username in SharePoint is "i:0#.f|membership|*PII*@*PII*.onmicrosoft.com" which looks rather like nonsense. Is it not possible to use the display name for the account? the login dialog was too small when I tried to connect -- the username and password were cut off, requiring a horizontal scroll. I would add some visual cue that lets you know where you are in the upload this would be good especially for the larger files that take a bit of time to upload. [SB] Uploading was fairly easy, but locating the file after it is uploaded is complicated and convuluted. [SB] Show where to upload documents to. [SB] I did not know whether to choose to upload to "My Documents" or to the default of "Site Assets"? What does that mean? [SB] [would like] drag and drop with metatags auto assigned

just remind people to refresh when editing together to see the updates Make sure all changes can be saved simultaneously to the same document by both so both people immediately see the changes. Also highlighting changed sections made by other users in different color codes for each user's changes and a legend to tell you which user is which color code would come in very handy to immediately see changes made by other users especially in large documents and be able to suggest or make changes to them. More colorful and interactive with the GUI.

It's not that it was not easy or easy it was the fact that the application was so slow in reaction to keyboard inputs that it became so frustrating that we gave up. I can see how it is supposed to work and we were looking forward to that part of the testing. To me this was a total fail

Improve the speed! the upload speed and download speed [SB] Loading speed could be improved, especially for dialup or 3G speed internet users. [SB] We found the editing of the documents online to be rather slow and frustrating. for whatever reason the documents did not load quickly and the actual editing of the document was halting at best. We don't know if it was connection issue on our side or rather an issue with the online application. One of the few real disappointments with 365 up to this point. [SB]

Add in the dropdown list when you clink on a document as a list item the option of either to open it in browser or via the desktop application. There is no option to view the document, only to download a copy or go into full editing mode? I'm not accustomed to seeing the "edit mode" in the browser run everything together and have "text punctuation". I would prefer to see a WYSIWYG interface to the browser webapp. Had figure out how to edit a document via the browser. The default document list does not work but when creating a new document list, it worked. Get rid of the glitches. When we tried to open the document and edit it in Word we got an error message. We get too many security prompts -- from "enable editing" to reentering our credentials" to allowing add-ons, etc. This would make any information worker nervous. More similar with the desktop version, cuz it is a little bit different...

Far more advanced tools. Scripts, better design tools. Replace the missing modules. Add decent java script support. And on and on. Add more options for layout and other design tools. Add more colors and font options for text. Change the theme picture to logo. It makes no sense to push the header and everything else down just to add a logo, especially when the logo is listed under header in the options. I would give people more capabilities in designing their site. For example, I create sites for myself and others and I didn't like that I couldn't insert my own picture, logo and change the design colors.

speed up response time greatly, as it is it's way too slow, sometimes taking as much as three minutes to load a dialog box. Followed the instructions to a "T" and had an issure undestanding specifically the address to use. Is it just the domain, or domain /TeamSite? It's not easy to figure out how to use or simple to upload even when you do. When you go to publish it it doesn't tell you or let you know ahead of time where to put the URL to upload the database. Explain how to find the server and the URL information so that you can publish your database. When publishing it from within access i could not figure out how to link it to the office365 homepage. WHen I created one from within office365 it was easier at the link appeared on the main navigation ribbon I tried to follow the directions here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint-server-help/build-anaccess-database-to-share-on-the-webHA010356866.aspx#_Toc262821712 It was too difficult for me, to make it easier, there should be a button which allows you to click and "UPLOAD" to a list of sites that are connected with your Office 365 ID. Making an information worker manually find te servers and specify the intranet site is too complicated.

First, I tried with a simple database I created with 2 rows in a table. It never worked complaining about I had not chosen a default web form. Once I watched the video, I chose a template from list and was able to publish it and add items in both places and it synced. The process requires the creation of a local copy before editing the online version. Unable to open and directly edit an online copy. Could not update db online. Stock web DBs seem to be easy but I'm not sure how I'll be able to port over my other DBs. Additional instruction and/or experimentation seems to be in order. [SB] I wonder though on existing large Access databases and using a web part etc to publish them. Some real live examples with sample .mdb file would have been nice.

There was no option for that among the Create New Site options. I didn't find an option in the available templates for this at all There was no Wiki page library option in the New Site Create dialog box. Using the full version of Access I have installed on my desktop -- I couldn't even find the "Wiki Page Libary" to complete this exercise.

making it easier to get these pages to look good in design terms would be helpful. Its very easy building, adding and linking but to make it look good is really difficult. Maybe some templates? This task was simply done and would be a very useful tool for any kind of information sharing. I think it could be improved by adding the ability to allow users who do not have 365 accounts but were privately invited by the admin of the wiki to view the wiki or make posts. I guess the bulk add user feature is useful in that regard but what happens when you use up all of your account creations? Will the full version be limited by the # of accounts a user can add? Allow non domain email addresses to view the site. Offer power found in wiki's such as MediaWiki (the engine of Wikipedia). Creating the page really wasn't a problem for me it is the sharing of the information to others in my organization. I believe I have shared this issue in my other surveys, but basically people don't like the fact that they have to create another email address in order to get into my team site. They also find it very time consuming.

I receive the error Word cannot register your account. Publishing a blog post with Word was impossible since Word could not connect no matter what computer I used to Sharepoint online.

It was not easy to publish through word because I couldn't figure out the URL for my blog so I just copyied and pasted my blog into the site.
I get the error 'Word could not register your account' but I am able to blog from the SharePoint I tried to create a blog in word and post to the Sharepoint but it would not validate the URL I entered nor prompt for credentials, I didn't know how I was going to log in to post. just open a blog on yahoo or google is easier

Despite my troubles publishing through word, once I realized that you can save the document as the URL name and it will give you the option to save it anywhere on your site I was very impressed. It was ridiculously simple. Great Feature, but I think you should add in an "add attachment" option on the actual website that will let you upload documents like you would in an e-mail. [this task required help from a beta buddy]
It would be useful to know whether these blogs can also be public facing. secure the connection. Got a warning that the data as well as my user name and password would be transmitted in the open. I would like the capability to publish the blog not only to the teamsite, but to the external site as well. If this can already be done, it wasnt very clear.

I am not certain that it should be necessary to separate the creation of the list and creating a new view of the list. This is too cumbersome. The access to create and edit the columns in the list is a bit hard to find. I think a wizard feature could help a user configure the columns Also once again more complicated and convuluted than it needs to be or should be. The options and layout should be much simpler, more intuitive and simple to use. I recommend that when you click on a list option, that it show you a preview of what you are going to create. Just as when you access the Office Template Gallery in any office app, it shows you a preview before you opt to download. Add more list types More clickable help on some of the list creation options e.g. grouping
