LESSON PLANNING ( ICTL ) FOR YEAR 4

WEEK 1 Theme : Computer Lab Management Topic : Computer Lab Management Learning area : 1.1 Lab Safety Learning outcomes : 1.1.1 Discuss lab safety 1.1.2 State the lab safety procedure 1.1.3 Practice lab safety Skills : 1.4.1 Listen to and understand simple instructions 3.8.1 Read and understand instructions 4.4.2 Complete simple instructions with the missing words (with guidance given in the form of pictures Learning objectives : By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to : - listen and understand simple instructions - read and understand instructions pertaining to lab safety Activities : Step 1 : Teacher shows pupils slide shows on lab safety through Power Point presentation . Step 2 : ( Pupils-centred )Teacher reads and pupils repeat after teacher. Step 3 : Teacher explains about the safety guidelines in accordance with the slide shows. Step 4 : Teacher asks pupils to match sentence parts to make complete sentences. Step 5 : Teacher discusses answers with pupils for immediate self evaluation. Step 6 : Pupils fill in the blanks for remedial and reinforcement activity. Step 7 : Homework is given. Pupils will complete a composite composition. Step 2 : Teacher shows the steps on how to create an ICTL folder that consists of ICTL classes subfolders in it. Step 3 : Pupils create their own personal folder. Step 4 : Pupils open Microsoft Word and type simple text. Step 5 : Pupils save the document into their personal folder. Step 6 : Pupils complete the given worksheet. WEEK 3 Theme : Computer Hardware Topic : Computer Parts and Components Learning Area : 1.1 Ports 1.2 Power Supply Socket Learning Outcomes : 1.1.1 Identify different ports for different peripherals. 1.2.1 Know and understand the danger involving power supply unit. Skills : 4.1.3 Copy words in clear and legible print for labels. Learning Objectives : By the end of the lesson,pupils should be able to - Identify 10 different types of port. - Know the usage and the safety of using power supply unit. Activities : Step 1 : Teacher introduces different ports using pictures. Step 2 : Teacher shows different ports for different peripherals.( hands-on ) Step 3 : Teacher shows how to use the power supply and explain about the safety. Step 4 : Teacher asks questions randomly to the pupils. Activities: Step 1: Teacher shows 5 pictures of land transport. Step 2: Teacher asks pupils how to insert picture into your folder. Step 3: Teacher explains/demonstrates how to use the scanner by explaining the steps : - Switch on the scanner and make sure the scanner connected to the computer - Open the scanner cover - Place the picture on the scanner and close the scanner cover - Click the scanner icon on the desktop - Click on Start, then click Program, then click on the icon - Start the scanner application - Let the scanner operate. Step 4:Teacher divides pupil into 10 groups. Step 5: Teacher distributes different worksheet to different group. Step 6: Teacher asks pupils to complete the worksheet. Step 7: The group that has finished can scan their worksheet using the scanner. Topic : Computer Software (Word Processing) Learning Area : 1.1 - Table Learning Outcomes : 1.1 Insert table in a document Add columns and rows into the table Delete columns and rows in the table Insert data about ones personality Skills : 1.1.1 & 4.4.3 Learning Objectives : By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to : - Insert table in a document - Add columns and rows into the table - Fill in the data as required pertaining to the topic/ content. Activities : Step 1 : Teacher demonstrates how to insert table by click on table. Step 2 : Choose insert table. Step 3 : Select 5 columns and 3 rows. Step 4 : Decide on how many columns are needed. Step 5 : Teach how to delete columns and rows by highlighting 2 columns or / and 2 rows. Step 6 : Pair Work -In pairs pupils repeat the procedures and practice thoroughly. Teacher drills the pupils to name the types of computer viruses. Teacher guides the pupils to spell and pronounce correctly the word of computer viruses. Step 3 Teacher asks pupils to read a short passage of computer viruses. Step 4 Teacher asks pupils to list out the anti viruses. Step 5 Teacher guides the pupils to present the list of the anti viruses by using the power point. Step 6 Pupils answer the worksheets. Step7 Sing the song The Bad Virus tune London Bridge. Step 3 Teacher distributes the diskettes to the groups and asks them to scan the diskette. Step 4 Teacher asks them to do the worksheet given in the word programme and save it in their own folder.
