Labors Budget has no plan to build a stronger economy, repay debt or create secure jobs for Australias future. While Australians struggle with rising cost of living pressures, Labors Budget has cut support for families, racked up a record debt and ignored the Carbon Tax.

Worlds biggest Carbon Tax starts this year

The worlds biggest Carbon Tax starts on 1 July. It will collect a whopping $36 billion over the next four years, costing jobs and pushing up the price of everything, especially electricity, grocery and healthcare prices. The Carbon Tax will hit all Australians.

More waste means more debt

Labors reckless spending will see Australias debt blow out to a record $144.9 billion. As a result, the Labor-Greens Government is being forced to legislate to increase Australias debt ceiling to a record $300 billion and Australias annual interest debt bill will climb to a record $8 billion a year - money that should be spent on health, education, disabilities and roads.

No plan, just tricky accounting

Labor has delivered the four biggest deficits in Australian history. After recording a $44 billion deficit this year, Julia Gillard and Wayne Swan expect Australians to believe that they will deliver a $1.5 billion surplus next year. The only reason they are claiming a surplus is because they have juggled the books, and kept major projects such as the NBN off Budget. Australias future would have been better served by a Budget that focussed on building the economy, creating jobs and dealing with the Carbon Tax.

No relief from rising living costs

Labors Budget wont ease the rising cost of living and higher prices that Australians face every day. Instead, the Budget hits Australian families with more taxes, including the worlds biggest Carbon Tax, and more cuts to public medical benefits and the private health insurance rebate.

Australians are paying for Labors failures:

Julia Gillard and Wayne Swan have no plan for Australias future
Under Labor Australians are going backwards. Everyday prices are skyrocketing electricity prices are up 66% since Labor was elected and education and health costs have increased by over 25%. The Carbon Tax will force prices even higher. At the same time, Australias debt is forecast to hit a record $144.9 billion with a $44 billion deficit this year alone! At this critical time for households, Labor lacks the leadership and strength to do whats right to plan for Australias future. Instead, Labor is dangerously reliant on the continued success of just one sector of the economy, the mining sector, with no plan to broaden the economy and grow other sectors like manufacturing, agriculture and services.

Small business is doing it tough. But instead of supporting Australian small business operators when they need it most, Labor has dumped its promised company tax cut and instead hit Australian small business with new tax hikes! On top of the Labor-Greens Carbon Tax, small business will be hit hard, destroying industries and costing jobs.

At a time when Australians are facing higher prices every day, Labors budget fails to ease cost of living pressures on families. Electricity, grocery, fuel and education costs are all up. And this is before the worlds biggest Carbon Tax and cuts to medical benefits.

Labor has broken its promise and is cutting a further $5.5 billion from Australias Defence budget. This, at a time when their failure to control our borders has seen over 300 boats arrive illegally under Labor and the cost of managing our detention centres blow out by a further $1.7 billion.
