Military Spouses
Happy Military Spouse Appreciation Month!! This month is about us, the spouses and this months newsletter will focus on resources for us right here. Most everyone on base has heard of Fleet and Family Support Center and will generally relate it to counseling but there is whole lot of resources for spouses, too. FFSC offers monthly class on Resume Writing and Military Spouse Orientation as well as sponsor groups like Mommy and Me and Spouse Summit. These are great tools for spouses to not only learn something but connect with other spouses. For more information on dates and times call FFSC at 504-678-7569. Another great aspect of FFSC is that they are always looking for volunteers. Volunteering is good way to connect with your community, while building a resume, too. New in town is the PWOC at the Chapel. This is a group for women looking to use religion to learn, grow and connect. They now have a FB page, PWOC NAS JRB New Orleans. They meet every Thursday morning at 0930 at the NAS JRB Chapel. If exercise is your thing, try Stroller Warriors. No need to have running experience or even kids! This an amazing group of women just supporting each other. Connect with them on FB as well on their group page Stroller Warriors New Orleans or just show up for a run/ walk on Tuesdays and Saturdays at Plaquedilla Park. From the bottom of my heart, I thank all the military spouses for all your hard work here at home!

Community Garden
Coming soon to the base will be a Community Garden. A place to have all your own to plant vegetable, fruit or herbs. Currently a space has been designated on Printance Circle right off of Russel. There will be raised beds and plots will be available for rent for $20 for a small and $40 for a medium and $60 for a large.. If you are interested in joining or would like more information for the Community Garden you can look them up on Facebook at NAS JRB Community Garden: www.facebook.com/groups/ nasjrbgarden The committee is hoping to start planting this fall!
