Evil Within Us Do you think if a person was evil enough, they could take over an entire nation?

How about an island? In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, the character Jack takes over an island similar to the way Hitler takes over nations. Jack and Hitler both have evil personalities which is demonstrated through their mean actions and violence, thus showing how humans are born with evil. Jack and Hitlers evil personality is demonstrated through their mean actions. Jacks evil personality is shown when he picks on defenseless kids. Jack attacks Piggy, Piggy was surrounded before he could back away. Here let me go his voice rose to a shriek of terror as Jack snatched the glasses off his face. Jack takes Piggys glasses even though he cannot see without them. His disregard for others feelings shows his evil character. Jack also uses fear in order to gain power over others. Hitlers evil personality is demonstrated when he tries to gain power by taking over the world, and killing innocent people. According to the article Adolph Hitler by Gary Grobman, Hitler outlined his plans for world domination. Those who objected to the plan were dismissed (Grobman 5). Whoever didnt agree with Hitlers plan would be killed. This shows his evil personality because he is taking lives to rule the world. Both Jack and Hitler bullied a defenseless group of people in order to gain power. Their mean actions show that they both have evil personalities. Jack and Hitler use violence to show their evil side. Jack demonstrates his evil personality when he takes out his anger on one of the boys for no reason. After Jack takes power, Robert says to Roger, He is going to beat Wilfred hes been tied up for hours, waiting (Golding 159). Robert explains to Roger that Jack is beginning to use

violence to gain power. Jack is beating one of the boys named Wilfred, and Robert doesnt know the reason. These malicious actions show the evil that is within Jack. Similar to Jack Hitler begins to use violence to gain power in an evil way. This violence led to more violence, German cities were being destroyed by bombing (Grobman 5). Because Hitler began to use violence against the Soviet Union using Blitzkrieg of German tanks and infantry, the allies were forced to fight back against Germany and Hitler. Hitler is ignoring the non-aggression pact in order to carry out his plan, without thinking about the people who would be hurt in the process. Both Jack and Hitlers evil personalities are shown when they use violence to establish themselves as leaders. Jack and Hitler both have evil personalities which are demonstrated through their mean actions and violence, thus showing how humans are born with evil. Based on Goldings portrayal of Jack in the novel Lord of the Flies, Goldings message is that human beings are all born with some evil inside of them. Often times, people will break rules and let their emotions take over their actions in order to feel a sense of control. The disregard for rules and laws is an everyday thing in society for many people. Golding is showing how even though human beings are all born with evil instincts, its necessary to suppress the evil within them.
